In a Blow to Mitt Romney, Gentry Collins Drops His RNC Bid

Gentry Collins has dropped his bid to replace Michael Steele as RNC Chairman. He apparently didn’t find much support.

This news is a blow to Mitt Romney. Collins ran his failed 2008 presidential campaign in Iowa. Many people thought it would be advantageous for Romney to have one of his people in charge of the RNC. Luckily, Romney will be denied such an opportunity. It is important that whoever emerges as the winner of this contest be able to maintain complete neutrality in the upcoming GOP presidential primaries. Having Collins as RNC Chairman would have made this goal impossible.
