UK Media:Hey, Maybe Sarah Palin Isn’t As Dim As We Were Told….

An odd thing is happening in the UK media and I doubt it’s anything to do with Killer Cucumbers. After nearly three years of dismissing Sarah Palin as airhead homophobic racist religious bigot with a brain the size of a pea and the political savvy of a semi literate ant she is suddenly being treated as a human being with a claim to be considered as a serious operator in the lead up to the 2012 election.

Websites like The UK Spectator Coffee House and ConservativeHomeUSA (run by former Bush staffer Ryan Streeter and thought to be financed by UK multi millionaire Lord Ashcroft) are no longer equating her with Britney Spears.

But the proverbial biscuit must be taken by the flagship of the liberal left, The Guardian, where Richard Adams manages to write a full length article on her sans snark or snigger – indeed it could well have come from the pen of Dan Riehl or Robert Stacy McCain who, though not Palinistas, have always treated her with respect and defended her against weasels and mountebanks.

With the bus tour and hagiographical documentary, I think at this point we can assume Palin is going to run for the Republican nomination, unless tourists at Gettysburg start pelting her with tomatoes (unlikely) or her bus runs over a cute kitten named Mr Mittens live on Fox News (improbable).
I’ve said it before: Palin would be crazy not to run for the Republican nomination. Just look at the rest of the field. Since evangelicals’ sweetheart Mike Huckabee declined to run, the path is clear for Palin on the Tea Party/Christian wing. The three identikit Republican ex-governors running – Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty and Jon Huntsman – squabble among themselves and split the centre-moderate-establishment vote. Palin crushes them all in South Carolina, the traditional Republican bellwether. Game over?
That scenario was sketched out for me by a Virginia Republican who is tepidly backing Romney – "Because there’s no one else." He, like a lot of Republicans, is still waiting for a knight on a white horse to sweep into the race, Rick Perry of Texas being the most common name given to the knight, although Jeb Bush is also wistfully mentioned. The trouble is, time is running out and knights are in short supply.

Who the hell cares what a bunch of pansy Brits think (as one C4P reader once wrote about a post I did centuries ago on Palin and the UK media)

My thoughts exactly when reading US comments on our own election last year.

But our UK hacks never waste shoe-leather on researching the American political scene themselves. They take their cue from their US counterparts in New York and Washington and the gossip at Tina Brown’s media elite bunfights – and the message coming out from the salons is it’s time to treat Sarah Palin seriously.

Welcome to the club, guys, better late than never, as Wyatt Earp said to the Clanton brothers at the OK Corral….

Biggest Online Poll of the Year.  O’Reilly’s ratings are #1 on cable.

This is huge boys and girls.  We need to rock this one like never before.  It’ll run for 4 days at least.  Maybe even until next Monday.

    • fb274

Thanks, I was looking for that poll.  Amazing what cleaning cookies will do!

    • angeleno

I just voted. Please note it is head to head between just two people, Palin and Bachmann. O’Reilly, and apparently the rest of the FOX Rinos are aggressively pushing Bachmann these
days because as Obama says, anyone but Palin!   When you go to to vote, please be careful, As I write at 540 PDT (840p on the east coast) O’Reilly still has last week’s poll posted on his home page among four GOP contenders including Bachmann but NOT Palin).
There is a link on the page to other O’Reilly polls, and Palin vs. Bachmann is there, dated today and should be on the front page, not the old poll without Palin. But O’Reilly is playing games, always downplaying Palin, saying still that she won’t run, and now glorifying Bachmann.
Although when Bachmann was running for re-election last year and under the same filth attacks from Obama’s Dems as Palin, O’Reilly didn’t know she existed.
Vote for Palin. She is the one who can lead and who can stanbd up to Obama.

    • excopconservative

When I bring up the site, I see Bachmann, Romney, Gingrich, and Pawlenty, but no Palin!

    • blackbird

      thanks Greg.

  • cookboy

Ahh, Mr. P, so nice of you to drop by…

    • cudaforever

  • MaMcGriz

    Ya think??

Thanks, Aged P! This is welcome news!

  • wisetrog wt

unless tourists at Gettysburg start pelting her with tomatoes (unlikely)

so looks like guardian n the left is trying to make this happen. also that accident bit. looks like they are going to contrive an accidnet and blame it all on palin.  imagine that.

  • fb274

Disqus has it in for me. Deleted double post. Thanks.

  • Pete Petretich

So how do you think she and Todd would get along with David Cameron and that young Prince and his new Princess? I tend to think they would all respect one another, and maybe become friends.

Sometimes that happens with the PM/ UK and POTUS, but not always.

    • John Norton

I suspect Kate and the prince and the Queen are well aware of the Govs.activities didnt you know its the new british soaps…

  • cudaforever

Thanks Daniel. Always enjoy hearing the news from across the Pond !!

  • michael has Bachmann beating Palin head to head. go vote so we send a clear message to the windbag

    • Lakerfanalways

The ONLY reason why OReilly sorta likes Bachmann is because she kissed his fanny on his show. Notice Bill only likes those who kiss his butt, if they don’t obey his orders,  he trashes them the next the guy on Inside Edition to find out everything u need to know about Bill O’Reilly

      • michael

O Reilly is an arrogant ass. Palin put him in his place and just like the
whinny libs and even Chris Christie, they go out of their way to put her in
        a bad light.

  • John B. Hefmier

In the previous thread, I posted a link to a couple of photos of Donald, Sarah and company enjoying pizza.  Here are some more pics.  Sorry, but it’s MSLSD.

    • John Norton

You could see in one of the photos Donald sarahs dad were engaged in conversation…

  • RefudiateGOPe

Tweet from @Sheya:twitter : Inside source: Foxnews deliberately out to sabotage Palin. It’s going to get ugly. I’ll have more on this tomorrow.

Go to @Sheya’s tweet feed and retweet.

    • ellebb

We’ve known that for about 4 months now.

    • BostonBruin

I wonder why. Do they not like the fact that she hasn’t announced yet and is holding up the GOP primary from really getting started? Or is Karl Rove calling the shots over there? What do they think they are going to accomplish by saying she’s not running?

    • shellymic

Wow, this is sounding almost as conspiratorial as a Ron Paul forum.  Maybe time to re-think this strategy…

  • John B. Hefmier
    • John Norton

Id say the Donald and Sarah are in heated discussion…

  • John B. Hefmier
    • larrygeary

"Yet again, Trump and Palin threatened to suck up all the oxygen in the GOP primary, which so far features two frontrunners – Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty – who couldn’t create a media frenzy if they were on fire."

    • John Norton

Thats a good one ,Sarahs saying I just wanna eat my Pizza Donald  Donald says theey are not gonna let you Sarah says you just watch me  !…

  • Jasmine Clark

hopefully the media acceptance of her will spread to the US too. but it’s great to see people in other countries liking her.

"Many Republicans have the fighting instinct of sheep.
(Except when it comes to fighting against Sarah Palin running for President)

When Republican snobs like George Will and Charles Krauthammer feel compelled
to join the liberal chorus and insult Governor Palin, they also insult
middle America. They don’t think like us or for us.

To them, Sarah is "The One Who Shall Not Be Named" in their suave Foo-Foo cocktail parties
and a more dangerous threat than Obama and the Democrats.

How revealing that GOP elites echo the Left’s same talking points in
attacking Governor Palin. I’m still waiting to see any substantive
criticism of Palin from any of them. What policies has she advanced that
doesn’t stand up to their critical analysis? How come these so-called
"conservatives" tear down the one person that stands up for the same
principles that they have professed to stand for as well?

I don’t need a George Will, Karl Rove or Politico to tell me what to believe, or to
instruct me about their version of ‘conservatism’. I used to think these
talking heads researched and came to their conclusions based on facts
    and principles. Not any more.

When a housewife-turned-politician runs circles around you, steal
your base out from under your noses and make you all appear like idiots
on issue-after-issue it’s time to hang up your hat. Sarah is an
existential threat to Washington because they will never own her.

….Everybody Is Against Sarah Palin (Except The People). I stand with Sarah Palin!
    I like the odds!"

    • Raceaford

The GOP is afraid of her cleaning house when she is elected, just as she did in Alaska.  Governor Palin is one of "We The People" and they know it.  The "good ‘ole boys" are scared for good reason.  Governor Palin is an All American first. It will be nice to call her President in 2013.

  • John B. Hefmier
  • heshtesh

Just watched DR.Kraut interview on O’Rielly as usual dismissive of Sarah, said she is very intelligent but lacks knowledge on world affairs, what a crock, give it a while and then have Sarah debate him. Someone please explain to me what makes Pawlenty,Romney or any other potential candidate any better versed in world affairs cause i sure as hell have’nt seen it!!!

    • RefudiateGOPe

@Sheya:twitter :  Krauthammer lied about Bachmann / Palin poll results. The results were 71/28 for Palin see snapshot

      • RefudiateGOPe

Everyone needs to email The Factor and see if he’ll correct it tomorrow.

        • John Norton

Im not sure it would work Have Greta dress him down…

      • John Norton

Im getting sick of Krauthammer he just another Cafferty over at CNN.another looser…

    • wodiej

ain’t got nothin’ to do with it.  Gov. Palin just don’t have the right equipment for them boys.

    • bedr1

      Like Mittens is worldly

    • Vicki

Yes. I wrote into Bill Oreilly and said CK had support Christie, Ryan, Pawlenty, Daniels and Romney, none of whom have demonstrated any particular knowledge on world affairs. And yet Gov Palin has written and spoken extensively on Israeli Palestinian issues as well as trade imbalances with China and Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan.

    • susiepuma

I was gonna watch the baxter show after Greta – watched about a minute and turned to the Food network – I just cannot watch that blowhard anymore……………………….

Little disappointed with Greta’s show too – why didn’t she show the whole interview with Sarah instead of putting (yawn) Santorum and (I’m glad I don’t have to vote for her anymore) Bachmann who, BTW, just about repeated verbatim exactly what Sarah has said – & also bragged about the many (?) who are telling her to Run, Michele Run – back to MN for sure and do her damm job…………………………………..

  • Vicki

Sean talking about Palin with Tantos and Obersean.

    • ellebb

      Good, fair panel on Sean.

    • celestiallady

Very refreshing to hear them talk positive about Sarah. They are women – I still say the Washington elite do not want a female – it would hurt their egos.

  • gahanson

BOR had his all-star Palin bashing line-up tonight, starting with himself, then moving on to Brit Hume, then Colms, even Monic Crowley took some shots at her, then topped it off with Krautyammer.  I’m surprised he didn’t have Goldberg bash her too for good measure.

    • blueniner

That was a total Palin bashfest tonight on the Factor. Something seems to be up.

    • freeperjim

Disappointing to hear Monica Crowley bashing Sarah….but then her BIL is Alan Colmes.

  • bedr1

Hannity says he wants Palin to run.

    • SaraPFan

      Really? That’s great.

  • BostonBruin

Another Sheya tweet: "Fox memo to all contributors: Push that Palin isn’t running as hard as you can."

I’m not sure what they think this will accomplish. She’ll announce when she’s good and ready to announce.

    • bedr1

Just remember, if Fox believes she is going to run, they would have to ask her to announce or not like Huckabee. If they make all pundits say no she isn’t going to run, they can act like she is not and keep her on until she does announce.

      • BostonBruin

Sheya’s tweets make it sound like they’re angry with her and want to damage her reputation. The word "sabatoge" has very serious implications.

        • Pete Petretich

She’s making money off of FNC, FNC is making money off of her. There’s no need to rush about terminating her contract.

Also, FNC can buy some good will with their critics and say "See, we are not only criticizing liberals! See, we are unbiased!" Cynical but true.

      • SaraPFan

I was just about to type the same thing. Fox would have to end her contract. She’s bringing in too many ratings.
