When Nicole released the results of the C4P reader survey, the results showed that many of the survey’s respondents indicated that they planned on donating the max to the Governor’s presidential campaign the moment she announced her run for the presidency. We asked those of you who indicated a desire to donate a substantial amount of money to the Governor’s campaign to e-mail us at victory2012@conservatives4palin.com so that we could share with you an idea to demonstrate the fundraising that awaits the Governor when she makes her presidential campaign official.
The idea, which may never have been a realistic one to begin with, is probably no longer needed considering that the Governor’s announcement appears imminent whether you believe it will occur before, at, or after her September 3rd speech in Waukee, Iowa. The idea was to set up a trust account to which wealthier Palin supporters could donate the amount they planned to contribute to the Governor’s presidential campaign the moment it becomes official. We would have needed to find someone closely affiliated with the Governor’s inevitable presidential campaign to manage the trust. The idea was to show the press that Palin’s grassroots supporters are so excited about her candidacy that we were already putting money to back up our words. The press would have been forced to take the trust account seriously considering that the project represented something far more serious than just pledges, as Mitt “peacetime” Romney hilariously found out when he pulled a fast one on the press in Las Vegas. This grassroots trust account would have served as a contrast to the fundraising efforts of Romney and non-candidate Rick Perry, both of whom rely on professional bundlers to raise money for them and neither man has been very successful in raising a substantial amount of money.
As you can imagine, the trust account would take time to set up and we would have needed to find someone affiliated with the Governor’s campaign. It also needed to be structured in a way that would provide all contributors with the opportunity to easily withdraw the money they contributed to it right away without charge when the Governor announces so that they can contribute what they donated to the trust to the Governor’s real presidential campaign. We probably would have generated some good press for the Governor but the idea may have been too difficult to pull off in such a short period of time. The idea was conceived prior to the news about her September 3rd speech in Waukee, Iowa.
We want to thank everyone for taking the time to e-mail us regarding your financial commitment to the Governor’s presidential campaign. We apologize for not getting back to you sooner but it became clearer and clearer to us after the news broke about her September 3rd speech in Iowa that we probably wouldn’t have the time to pursue such a fundraising project. Her announcement is coming soon anyway and the press and her Republican opponents will know about the strength of her fundraising network within hours after she announces.
In the meantime, if you are able to, we recommend contributing some money towards Organize4Palin’s efforts in Iowa. Organize4Palin is continuing to lay the foundation in Iowa so that the Governor can hit the ground running when she announces. Everyone who is working in Iowa for Organize4Palin is working on a volunteer basis and any dollar you can provide them is greatly appreciated. You can make a donation to Iowa’s Organize4Palin here.
