If you plan on attending the Governor’s speech on September 3rd in Waukee, Iowa and would like to meet some of your fellow C4P readers, we have tentatively scheduled an informal gathering at 8 PM on September 2nd in Des Moines, which is the city closest to Waukee. I’m thinking we’ll just find a restaraunt to meet up at at 8 PM.
These plans are all tentative and they are subject to change. If you are interested, e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org. That way, we’ll just e-mail everyone who e-mailed us with more details of the informal gathering as we get closer to the date. Also e-mail us with any ideas that you may have.
Most of the questions that have been sent our way pertain to recommendations as to where to stay and if there are any ways to get to Iowa if you would prefer not to fly. The good news is that Tea Party of America, the organization that is sponsoring the Governor’s speech on the 3rd, posted the following on its Facebook page in response to both questions:
We are currently putting together a list of hotels with discounted rates, directions and all the info you will need if flying in. Keep checking back with the website (teapartyofamerica.org ) and it should be up within the week. Many thanks and God Bless you all.
If you reside within a thousand miles or so of Des Moines, we are putting together Charter buses also. Again, keep checking the website for that info as well.
There’s already an option available for our readers from Texas:
The Texas chapter of Organize4Palin has chartered a bus to travel to Waukee Iowa for the September 3 “Restoring America” rally being organized by Tea Party of America. Sarah Palin has agreed to deliver the keynote address at the event, one which many of the governor’s supporters hope will be the venue at which she will announce that she will be a candidate for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.
The charter is scheduled to depart Dallas Thursday night, September 1st, and to return Sunday night, September 4th. The O4P Texans are having the bus wrapped in “Texas is Palin Country” livery.
Seats are still available at $175 per round trip ticket, which includes transfers to and from the event site. Lodging is not included but O4P has arranged for special able group rate.
If you would like to make the trip and live in or can get to the Dallas – Fort Worth area to catch the bus, Thursday evening, click here to contact the Texas O4P coordinator for DFW.
In terms of non-camping lodging, it sounds like many of our readers are staying at the Country Inn in Clive, Iowa.
If you have any additional ideas about lodging and travel, please let us know as well.
