There are Palin naysayers who try to convince us that she can’t run because it’s too late or that she doesn’t have the organization in place. They would be right if history and events were linear and continuous. But that’s not how the world works.

From the Revolutionary War to the discovery of penicillin to the precipitous end of World War II and on and on and on. Great need requires extraordinary means to rise to the challenges of the world. World history changed abruptly on all those and many other occasions. No one gave that rag tag band of colonial soldiers a chance to best the might of the British Empire but they fought for and created the greatest Nation on the face of the earth. History changed in a most dramatic and abrupt way in 1776.

No one had a clue how to stop the certain death from small scrapes, strep, and myriad other causes. Sometimes good things happen by accident but you have to be in the right place. History changed abruptly in 1928 with the discovery of penicillin in a way that none of the experts of the time could have predicted.

World War II would have dragged on several more years and cost millions of more lives had not President Truman made that fateful decision. 1945 proved that era’s experts wrong.

Right now we are living in a time that future generations will undoubtedly look at as extraordinary history, a time when the nation was headed straight on a course to its demise were it not for a noble and courageous leader who had the temerity to stand up to her naysayers and pulled our nation together.

In 2012 world history will change abruptly once again. It will be unlike anything that came before and that’s why the “experts” don’t understand it yet. They will and then you’ll hear something like “But, of course …”.

That’s exactly what happened with Ronald Reagan.
