Peter Schweizer Exposes More of Obama’s Green Corruption – Updated

Yesterday, I posted a piece about this weekend’s episode of 60 Minutes on CBS which will highlight insider trading on Capitol Hill and showcases the new book written by Governor Palin’s adviser, Peter Schweizer.

Today, Schweizer released an excerpt from his new book that will also be available in this week’s edition of Newsweek. In this portion, he goes far beyond the the Solyndra scandal and gives Americans a detailed picture of just how the Obama administration operates, and how they manage to hand over BILLIONS of tax dollars to cronies for political kickbacks.

He writes:

Where did green-energy cash go? Straight to campaign donors. Read more about Peter Schwiezer’s Throw Them All Out in the new Newsweek on sale Monday.

When President-elect Obama came to Washington in late 2008, he was outspoken about the need for an economic stimulus to revive a struggling economy. He wanted billions of dollars spent on “shovel-ready projects” to build roads; billions more for developing alternative-energy projects; and additional billions for expanding broadband Internet access and creating a “smart grid” for energy consumption. After he was sworn in as president, he proclaimed that taxpayer money would assuredly not be doled out to political friends. “Decisions about how Recovery Act dollars are spent will be based on the merits,” he said, referring to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. “Let me repeat that: decisions about how recovery money will be spent will be based on the merits. They will not be made as a way of doing favors for lobbyists.”

It would take an entire book to analyze every single grant and government-backed loan doled out since Barack Obama became president. But an examination of grants and guaranteed loans offered by just one stimulus program run by the Department of Energy, for alternative-energy projects, is stunning. The so-called 1705 Loan Guarantee Program and the 1603 Grant Program channeled billions of dollars to all sorts of energy companies. The grants were earmarked for alternative-fuel and green-power projects, so it would not be a surprise to learn that those industries were led by liberals. Furthermore, these were highly competitive grant and loan programs—not usually a hallmark of cronyism. Often fewer than 10 percent of applicants were deemed worthy.

Nevertheless, a large proportion of the winners were companies with Obama-campaign connections. Indeed, at least 10 members of Obama’s finance committee and more than a dozen of his campaign bundlers were big winners in getting your money. At the same time, several politicians who supported Obama managed to strike gold by launching alternative-energy companies and obtaining grants. How much did they get? According to the Department of Energy’s own numbers … a lot. In the 1705 government-backed-loan program, for example, $16.4 billion of the $20.5 billion in loans granted as of Sept. 15 went to companies either run by or primarily owned by Obama financial backers—individuals who were bundlers, members of Obama’s National Finance Committee, or large donors to the Democratic Party. The grant and guaranteed-loan recipients were early backers of Obama before he ran for president, people who continued to give to his campaigns and exclusively to the Democratic Party in the years leading up to 2008. Their political largesse is probably the best investment they ever made in alternative energy. It brought them returns many times over.

These government grants and loan guarantees not only provided access to taxpayer capital. They also served as a seal of approval from the federal government. Taxpayer money creates what investors call a “halo effect,” in which a young, unprofitable company is suddenly seen to have a glowing future. The plan is simple. Invest some money, secure taxpayer grants and loans, go public, and then cash out. In just one small example, a company called Amyris Biotechnologies received a $24 million DOE grant to build a pilot plant to use altered yeast to turn sugar into hydrocarbons. The investors included several Obama bundlers and fundraisers. With federal money in hand, Amyris went public with an IPO the following year, raising $85 million. Kleiner Perkins, a firm that boasts Obama financier John Doerr and former vice president Al Gore as partners, found its $16 million investment was now worth $69 million. It’s not clear how the other investors did. Amyris continues to lose money. Meanwhile, the $24 million grant created 40 jobs, according to the government website

The Government Accountability Office has been highly critical of the way guaranteed loans and grants were doled out by the Department of Energy, complaining that the process appears “arbitrary” and lacks transparency. In March 2011, for example, the GAO examined the first 18 loans that were approved and found that none were properly documented. It also noted that officials “did not always record the results of analysis” of these applications. A loan program for electric cars, for example, “lacks performance measures.” No notes were kept during the review process, so it is difficult to determine how loan decisions were made. The GAO further declared that the Department of Energy “had treated applicants inconsistently in the application review process, favoring some applicants and disadvantaging others.” The Department of Energy’s inspector general, Gregory Friedman, who was not a political appointee, chastised the alternative-energy loan and grant programs for their absence of “sufficient transparency and accountability.” He has testified that contracts have been steered to “friends and family.”

Friends indeed. These programs might be the greatest—and most expensive—example of crony capitalism in American history. Tens of billions of dollars went to firms controlled or owned by fundraisers, bundlers, and political allies, many of whom—surprise!—are now raising money for Obama again

There will be a lot of revelations coming out in Schweizer’s new book, which hits shelves this Tuesday. For now, you can read the entire released excerpt here.

Update: Peter Schwiezer will be co-hosting this week’s Victory Sessions with Stephen K. Bannon on KABC. Also joining the show will be Peter Boyer of Newsweek, Andrew Breitbart, and more. They will be delving into this book, so be sure to tune in!

Update II: Earlier today, Roderic Deane and I recorded the following "Grizzly Coalition Action Report" to help get out the word about Schwiezer’s book and the very important topics he covers:

I require about 3 fingers of fine bourbon over ice after reading this article and and the Fox article 1Exployer1 linked to. My blood is on fire!  Our own government is waging war against us AND our smallest children !  There really are two America’s as John Edwards once alluded to. A constitutional America and a marxist America. Its way past time to chose your side !

    • jeffo1

YEP! And there doing it right in our face! I would like to know where the people sworn to defend us from corruption such as this are? Is everyone is DC DIRTY?

It certainly appears so, Jeffo.  We have one hell of a fight on our hands, and the fight is the salvation of our nation.

The bigger question is why would Obama think the US needs these meds stockpiled to begin with? Makes me wonder if he is planning on causing an outbreak of small pox.

      • generictrainee

Before Holders gunwalker/fast and furius scandal your scenario was just a crazy conpirazy theory.

        • virginiagentleman1

You know what they say my friend, truth IS stranger then fiction!  Frightening isn’t it.

      • lanahi
"The Obama administration secured a $433 million contract for an
experimental, anti-smallpox drug with a company controlled by
deep-pocketed Democratic Party donor Ronald Perelman, although it’s
uncertain if the serum is needed or will work, according to a Los
Angeles Times story. The effectiveness of Siga Technologies’
anti-viral pill ST-246 is unproven because it hasn’t been adequately
        tested, the paper reported."

The vaccine has not been tested at all BECAUSE THERE ARE NO REMAINING SMALLPOX CASES IN THE WORLD!  The disease has been eradicated, 100%. It no longer exists anywhere on the globe.  The last case of smallpox anywhere in the world was in 1979.  It is one of only two diseases in the world that has ever been totally eradicated from the earth.  We still have disease like Black Plague, cholera, typhus, leprosy…but not smallpox.

So…not only has the vaccine not been tested but there is also no REASON to develop it.

EXCEPT…the CDC in Atlanta still has smallpox microbes in it’s laboratory and there is another counterpart to the CDC in Russia that has smallpox microbes.  They are the only repositories of the smallpox virus in the world.  Both Russia and the US were asked to destroy these samples in 1986, but neither nation agreed to do it. The smallpox viral samples are not needed, if the disease reappears, in order to develop a new vaccine.

Wikipedia says:  "A 2010 review by a team of public health experts appointed by the World Health Organization concluded that no essential public health purpose is served by the US and Russia continuing to retain virus stocks."

So what cute little game is Obama playing here other than to give a Democratic party donor more of our money?  One hopes he isn’t considering unleashing smallpox on the nations again so that he can then come and save us because of his vaccines.  This is a frightening possibility from a madman.

BTW, in order for vaccines to work, they must be given within 3-4 days of exposure.  But the disease has an incubation period of about 12 days, so the vaccine would do no good once the disease is diagnosed.

        • lanahi

A book "When Every Moment Counts" by Senator Bill Frist who was the only MD in the Senate,  talks about bioterrorism.  He says smallpox as a bioterrorism weapon would be one of our worst nightmares.

Since October 5 I have refrained from posting on C4P. As someone who was completely and unequivocally convinced that Mrs. Palin was going to run for the Republican nomination for President of the United States, and had been doing so since 2008, to say that I was flabbergasted by her negative announcement is to vastly understate the case.

Hearing her say she "had a fire in the belly," and that she "could beat Obamao," and listening to the many speeches outlining her plans for the "Fundamental Restoration of America," etc., et al, did not jibe in any way, shape, or form with her negative announcement.

That Mrs. Palin was not a "quitter," as her critics have attempted to label her, did not jibe with her quitting before she even really got started.

That Mrs. Palin has been a "fighter" her entire life, including her political career, did not jibe with her cutting and running.

That Mrs. Palin was not "stupid," again, as her critics have attempted to label her, did not jibe with the statement that one "does not need a title." Anyone who actually believes that President of the United States is merely a title, and not the most powerful human being on planet Earth, would, indeed, be as stupid as a 2-ton boulder.

Mrs. Palin, as I pointed out many months ago when it happened, hired Peter Schweizer. He is still on the payroll. One does not need Peter Schweizer advising them if they are not running for President of the United States.

So what does it all mean? As you note above, "that is the 15 trillion dollar question."

Here is what I truly believe it all means. Mrs. Palin is running for the Republican nomination for President of the United States!

Mrs. Palin promised us the most "unconventional" campaign ever. She IS the most "unconventional" candidate ever. In order to attempt to understand what she is doing, one must throw out everything "conventional" they know about the process.

Since October 5, all of the candidates have been completely stuck in the "conventional" mud. Not a single one has gotten traction with the grassroots constitutional conservatives. In slightly over one month, every "conventional" candidate is being vetted beyond their wildest imaginings.

Mitt Romney has been shown to be a complete flip-flopper who will say anything to get elected. While he maintains approximately 25% of support among "establishment Republicans," 75% of the grassroots conservatives have their doubts about him, and, at this point, are unwilling to support him against the other candidates.

Herman Cain has been subjected to his prophesied "high tech lynching" doom scenario. Since this kerfuffle, has anyone even mentioned his 9-9-9 plan? He has been totally thrown off message, and is struggling to get back. Once off message, it is extremely hard to regain the momentum that he had been building.

Rick Perry has shown himself to be an inarticulate amateur. Someone incapable of making split decisions, or thinking on his feet. While many could not elucidate this point, they still have an uneasy feeling about him. Not being able to put a complete thought or sentence together, not only does not inspire confidence, it is downright disquieting.

Newt Gingrich has managed to improve his position, but that represents a mere 15%. Against the half-baked candidates being offered by the "conventional" method, Newt willl always seem like an intellectual giant. As would any normal sized human standing among pygmies.

As to the others, they have already lost their credibility with the voters.

The Ministry of Propaganda is having a field day with these wannabes. All the while, they are trying unsuccessfully to lift Obamao above his dismal approval ratings and performance. They failed to lift the Democ-rat/Socialist Party above their dismal ratings and performance in 2010, and they will fail again in 2012.

Throwing "convention" in the trash dumpster, I believe Mrs. Palin has made a decision to by-pass the first 5 primaries. As these primaries are all to take place in January, with October through December deadlines, the deck is stacked, in many ways, against a populist candidate dependent upon the TEA Party organizations nationwide for "boots on the ground" and GOTV initiatives.

In most cases, the TEA Parties have not even chosen their candidates for local and state offices.

Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina are not "winner take all" elections. The amount of delegates to be divided up amongst all the candidates will equal an extremely minor potion of the amount needed to win the nomination.

Florida has already been penalized half their delegates, making them less important than they wanted to be. In fact, with their delegates halved, they are now relegated to the second tier.

The important "winner take all" primaries are in March, April, and May, where hundreds of delegates are going to be up for grabs. And where TEA Party, and constitutional conservative candidates will also be on the ballots.

Right now, it appears, is not the time to be "running," and wasting time, energy, and resources.

Mrs. Palin is running in her own "unconventional" way. The Ministry of Propaganda has all but forgotten she is alive. Their guns are trained elsewhere. She has completely removed herself as their target, or any type of target. They have bought that she "is not running," hook, line, and sinker.

          Have you?

Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see.

          Illegitimi non carborundum.

My thoughts all along.  She has been running since 2008 and for the moment has slipped ‘under the radar’ so that she can ‘maneuver’ her forces into positions that are the most effective for the battle ahead!  Do not EVER count Sarah Palin out…she is the ‘master tactician’!

          • jeffo1

I hope your right so that I can feel validated…I refuse to believe SARAH could sit on the sidelines and risk B.O. getting re-elected while America is burning.

          • excopconservative

Nothing precludes her from being in the Iowa and Nevada caucuses.  Voters  can vote for anyone they choose.  She would have to declare about a month before Iowa to get into the Feb 28th primaries and after, so it will be known to Iowa and Nevada voters that she is running.  She really misses only three primaries.

            • Christopher H Fromme

Delegate Count:  NH 12  SC 25 FL 50 because of penalty so  they are not a big deal. Iowa is a great start Peter Singleton be ready to help win half the 50 there,  NV 28    AZ & MI penalty 2/28 primary 58 THEN MARCH 1-10 between primaries & caucuses there is 618 delegates in play, The big one is Texas 155.  The rest of March 220 AL,HI,MS.IL,LA     Starting in April it is Winner Take All Primaries, the first 2 weeks are DC 19 WI 42 MD 37  VI 9  CO 36   total  136    Then mini-Tuesday 4/24  PA,NY,RI,CT,DE total 231 delegates.   May primaries in 7 states total 278  June can now be a bigger deal since California moved from Feb to June 5 along with MT,SD,NJ,NM  total 299   Utah 40  &  Ohio 56 end the season.   I missed a few but you can see the path to the nomination can go all the way until June   But you must do well in the March primaries and if possible get 50.1% of the vote then you get all of the delegates. GA 76 delegates is also on March 6 it is included in the above number.
Nice to win big time Texas & GA, Beat Perry & Cain in their home states.

Sarah my hope is to be a delegate to the convention
If there is no possibility of you being nominated then I’ll go play golf in Myrtle Beach

Please be in the fight for the future of this country   Then since I know that you can win the PA primary, my vote will one of many that starts the Restoration of America.

              • goldenprez

Christopher … An absolutely great breakdown of the path to the nomination.

This is exactly the information needed for the Palin Nation.

There are two keys to winning this nomination, and subsequently the Presidency:

1 – Boots On The Ground – The "conventional" candidates, for the most part, have to purchase their support. They have to set up state and local offices and employ personnel. This costs money. That is why they must rely on the "conventional" money raising techniques, which puts them in debt to donors and bundlers. This is the very definition of "crony capitalism."

There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever as to which candidate resonates with, and has the support, of the many TEA Parties and conservative patriot organizations. They are still begging for Mrs. Palin’s endorsement of their candidates. They are an "army" of "boots on the ground" and GOTV volunteers.

This is a major factor involved in key number …

2 – MOMENTUM – This is the most important factor involved in winning the Republican nomination for President.

None of the "conventional" candidates has generated any momentum whatsoever toward the goal of winning the nomination. In fact, with the "campaigns" beginning so far in advance of the actual voting, they have all dissipated whatever momentum they were able to generate over a short period of time.

They have all actually just been "spinning their wheels" in the mud of useless and fruitless "debates." With no elections in sight, these "debates" have just dissipated whatever energy there was in the room. With the proliferation of these "circle jerks," we see the candidates doing nothing more than arguing with each other, and tearing each other down, like children in the schoolyard.

These  "debates" are nothing more than fodder for the # 1 crony-capitalists on the planet: The Ministry of Propaganda. These "debates" are all created by, moderated by, and hosted by The Ministry of Propaganda. This is how they create news to sell their advertising. While they shine their distorted light on the Republican candidates, in order to make them look foolish and petty and catch them with "gotcha," it also serves the purpose of keeping Obamao and his disgraceful record out of the "debate." Which is exactly what they wish to accomplish.

The only momentum generated by these "Chinese fire drills" is NEGATIVE momentum.

Only a fool would participate in them.

Mrs. Palin, by "non-announcing," has taken herself completely out of these ridiculous displays. At the same time, she has silenced the hue and cry for her to participate in them, even by her own supporters who have no real understanding of the consequences of such participation.

Once the primaries are imminent, and the TEA Parties have chosen their candidates, I fully expect Mrs. Palin to swing into action. As I pointed out above, and you detailed with extreme accuracy, the MOMENTUM begins when the primaries are imminent. Once Mrs. Palin gains that momentum, it would be easier for the "establishment GOP" to stop an avalanche.

For all of Mrs. Palin’s supporters here on C4P, throw away everything you "know" about "conventional campaigns." Anything that even has an odor of "conventional" is going to be the antithesis of Mrs. Palin’s march to the Presidency. She is the only candidate with enough "coattails" to bring the needed army of constitutional conservatives required for a Fundamental Restoration of America!

Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see.

                Illegitimi non carborundum.

                Barracudas Maximus.

          • Jack Franklin

GoldenPrez, I do not have to tell you that your analysis is "unconventional."  As many others, I have had similar thoughts all along.  Gov Palin is "unconventional," even for an Arctic Fox.

Your observations and insights are concisely crafted in every regard.  When certain elements just seem so out of character, there usually is a reason.  And there is no reason, no matter how much any would kick and scream, for Sarah Palin to expose her strategies.  In fact, NOT doing so, may indeed have been part of her strategy to throw off the LSM and Repub Establishment.

The evolution of the "crony capitalism" theme (only about 2 months old) has been sublimely orchestrated.  In fact, I liken it to an orchestra warming up.  The warming up seems completely disconnected.  However, the moment that the maestro begins her first movement, there is coherence — even when we are experiencing an "unconventional" composition for the first time!

            • goldenprez

Jack … It took quite a while to analyze all of the events leading up to the October 5 "non-announcement."

Above all, I had to analyze all of the contradictions inherent in that "non-announcement." The contradictions were voluminous, overwhelming, and downright mind-boggling. As the "non-announcement" was the most contradictory conclusion to all that had gone before, I simply discarded it. Instead of looking at it in a negative light, I tried to analyze it from a positive viewpoint, i.e., what is lost, and what is gained.

This is the single most crucial election in American history. This election will decide whether the United States of America returns to it’s constitutional roots, with all attendant freedom, or becomes the United Socialist States of America, with the attendant complete loss of freedom that comes with socialism.

Arrayed against Mrs. Palin was a host of "enemies." The Democ-rat/Socialist Party, the "establishment" fellow-traveler GOP, the crony capitalists dependent upon the federal status quo, the Ministry of Propaganda with their total and complete investment in the status quo in general, and Obamao and the socialists/Marxists in particular.

How does one defeat all of the above in one fell swoop, because they cannot be defeated incrementally?

The answer, I concluded, was to not play "their game" in any way, manner, shape, or form. The deck is stacked against anyone who participates under their rules. All of those rules are the very definition of "conventional."

Therefor, one must play by their own rules. In fact, to continue a fractured analogy, make up one’s own "game." There is nothing more politically "unconventional" than that.

In order to defeat all of the above, timing is a crucial factor. Mrs. Palin cannot play her cards too soon or too late. To jump into the race, even now, would be way too soon. She has to hit the ground running, giving all opponents, especially the Ministry of Propaganda, no time to marshal their (combined) forces against her. She has to take them completely by surprise.

She promised us an "unconventional" campaign. She also said that when she makes her announcement to run everyone will know about it. I take her at her word on both statements.

Also, especially as concerns politics, I completely adhere to my first dictum below.

Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see.

              Illegitimi non carborundum.

              Fundamental Restoration Of America!

              Barracudas Maximus.

I understand when people use money to push their own agendas however criminal it may be.  What I don’t understand is no other agenda than to get yourself re-elected.  None of these green schemes will create jobs-most are financially unstable at best.  There is no end result to financing them unless Obama is planning on causing an outbreak of small pox.  Perhaps this is one of the reasons he never acts worried about anything.  I just don’t trust him.

    • Jack Franklin

It’s more about establishing a foundation (behind the scenes) that will "fundamentally transform" our country according to Chairman O’s puppet-masters. The way things have been, it no longer matters which party is in control so long as the ball is moved down the field (only the quarterbacks change).  If you check on youtube, under "George H Bush and NWO", you will see that he was one of the biggest proponents of the New World Order (hear it from his own mouth).  For example…

When this is understood, most things begin to make more sense.  If you actually watch this short clip, keep in mind that Gingrich is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (as are many of our seasoned governmental officials).

Gov Palin is our last hope, coupled with a renewed vigor for taking back our country by true patriots, like many I have come to know here.

Sarah has said in 3 or 4 speeches that Solyndra was only the tip of the iceberg.  I honestly see this scandal as possibly being part of the Bannon bombshell that would change the political landscape.  THIS could certainly be considered something that would change the landscape.

If Bannon is planning to release his information a month before the Iowa primary, it will affect the GOP nomination too.  Otherwise he would not consider releasing it THEN. A month before the primary means the voters will have a month to think about it and learn more before they vote.

Yes, I think we will hear from Palin after that…she will get in because of public demand to clean it up.

that’s why the swamp needs to be drained – I don’t care if Congress is made up of 535 people picked from the phone book – they would probably have more ethics and  better morals than the trough suckers that are there now…………………………..

      • Kimberly Petrich

KBR and Haliburton, truly enough, made a lot (a big lot) of taxpayer money, but there IS a big difference to be noted. KBR was HIRED to do a JOB by the government, a JOB they were under contract to complete, with MEASURABLE results. This was not a situation of a shaky "start up" company on the cutting edge of some fake technology that took guaranteed LOAN money and then went public and CASHED OUT, making a big fat profit for the cronies and leaving the public on the hook for the losses. The two things are NOT equivalent. Additionally, KBR and Haliburton actually did perform their work, and hired a great many Americans at quite high salaries to do it. Can you name another company with the capacity or capability to provide the services KBR does?

        • Kimberly Petrich

Full disclosure, I know many people who went to Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere to work for KBR.

        • susiepuma

They also made a lot of mistakes – lousy building practices that electrocuted our military trying to take a shower, lousy food, etc. – they are not innocents – they were doing this for the money & they made a lot – also they were no bid contracts

Sorry – a crook is a crook is a crook & DC is full of them…………………

    • Blackwater

Doesn’t matter. Both parties have corrupt individuals. Remember, it was republicans Sarah sent to prison in Alaska.

The problem is that it happens at ALL. The entire political system is ripe with corruption. It stinks.

We gotta run every corrupt politician out of office forever. And we gotta let the new ones know we are watching them like a hawk watches chickens. One screw up and they’re done too.

Time to buy stock in ORANGE JUMP SUITS

  • excopconservative

The lobbying corruption by Congress that Abramoff wrote about is small potatoes compared to what the Executive branch under Obama is doing.  Friends of Obama, Pelosi and Reid are raking in hundreds of millions while a large percentage of our home loans are under water and many of us are looking at a future of negative net worth.

All of the save the planet, save the whales, man-made global warming "green" garbage has been fed to our children in school, repeated over and over in the communist media, and there is little hope of counteracting it with facts.  It gives the statists license to spend unlimited funds and of course the money goes to their friends and supporters and circulates back to the leftist politicians.

This will be looked into carefully by the media who will indict some Republicans who admit to taking a free hamburger or two at Burger King and some tickets to a ball game.  The democrat money machine will only be stopped if Gov. Palin runs and exposes it.

  • HuntingMoose

what if Sarah was not referring to a natural earthquake but a political earthquake?

4.0 – 4.9 Noticeable shaking of indoor items, rattling noises. Significant damage unlikely. = Neighborhood Politics
5.0 – 5.9 Can cause major damage to poorly constructed buildings over small regions. At most slight damage to well-designed buildings = Local City Level
6.0 – 6.9 Can be destructive in areas up to about 160 kilometres (99 mi) across in populated areas. = County Level
7.0 – 7.9 Can cause serious damage over larger areas = County/State Level
8.0 – 8.9 Can cause serious damage in areas several hundred kilometres across = State Level
9.0 – 9.9 Devastating in areas several thousand kilometres across. = Big State Level
10+ widespread devastation across very large areas; = US Level
    12.55 – Yucatán Peninsula impact

so something that would change the political landscape from the east to the far west in Alaska easily classifies as 10.3

Schweizer may be on to something

    • Todd Underwood

I’m clinging to the hope that the terms "earthquake" and "tectonic" are interchangeable with Sarah and Bannon.

    • Ting

Yes, this is the earthquake to change the political landscape.  I don’t know what it means in terms of Sarah Palin – only she knows that.  But it will change the landscape because this is a non-partisan issue, with both parties complicit.  This is not really a political matter, but a matter of ethics and integrity.

  • JLAdevelop

This NY Times article was printed on the front page of the Seattle Times this morning. Crony capitalism gone wild with GE, Google and Goldman Sachs (all big Obama contributors) reaping the rewards.

"The project is also a marvel in another, less obvious way: Taxpayers and ratepayers are providing subsidies worth almost as much as the entire $1.6 billion cost of the project. Similar subsidy packages have been given to 15 other solar- and wind-power electric plants since 2009.

The government support — which includes loan guarantees, cash grants and contracts that require electric customers to pay higher rates — largely eliminated the risk to the private investors and almost guaranteed them large profits for years to come. The beneficiaries include financial firms like Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, conglomerates like General Electric, utilities like Exelon and NRG — even Google."

Seemed like an issue that a candidate could have ridden to the White House. Oh well.

  • BostonBruin

I could see one way in which this scandal vastly changes the political landscape.

Suppose it causes Obama’s approval numbers to fall into the 30’s. If so, the DNC could decide to boot Obama out at their convention and nominate someone else.

What does Karl Rove do then? As we know, he wants Obama to get a second term so that Jeb Bush can run in 2016. But if the DNC nominates someone else, then regardless of who wins the Presidency next year, Jeb would have to run against an incumbent in 2016. Not a good situation for him. He’s 58 now, so he’d be 67 in 2020. That’s a long time for him to be out of politics.

  • AmericanDream12

obama knows since the beginning, actually since he was elected, how stupid we have become as a people. He knows he can do anything he wants and nobody will stop him – proof is after 2010 elections – we were so proud and Sarah did such a great job – nothing has changed and he is still doing anything he wants and nobody up there is still not stopping him.

His first clue was when he won in 2008 with all we knew or did NOT know about him and yet he still won. That day forward he knew he could do anything he wanted to this American "We The People".

And the only one who could beat him on his own turf..well..choose to not bother.

    That makes me SOOOOOOO mad!

    • Betsey_Ross

This is frustrating and my blood pressure increases daily from this POS.  My big concern is that We the People only have elections as remedies for presidents such as Zero.  Where was the Republican Party when the House and Senate voted to spend almost 1 trillion dollars on stimulus.  WTH?   Not one of them said a word.  There should have been a squad sent out to the Capitol steps every day screaming bloody murder at that.  Instead?  Crickets.  Rick Santelli started the yelling and the Tea Party was born.  If the Republicans had any cajones they would have not allowed the Tea Party to happen.  We elected them to protect and defend the Constitution, and they didn’t and they still haven’t.  Most of the Republicans from the local, state, and national level don’t think this is a big deal.  It’s probably time to communicate to them that it is a big deal and we aren’t going to put up with it anymore.

  • Todd Underwood

Not sure if it’s just my mood today or what, but reading this post by Stacy is really, really ticking me off.  Not just in a political way, but in a deep, deep down personal way.  I’ll probably have to re-read/edit this post a few times to make sure I’m not coming off as some wacko bent on violence and thereby incurring the wrath of some government agency straight out of George Orwell’s 1984.  That movie is becoming more of a prediction of the US government under he whose name I WILL NEVER MUTTER more and more everyday.

I’ve been posting on and off about my hope/wish that SP is connected to this issue through Schwiezer, Bannon, and Brietbart and intends to do something about it.  My hope has been that she will use the Crony Capitalism angle and do something to help "We the People".  I’m not in a position to change my hopes to demands, but rest assured if I could I would.

She painted the words "We the People" on her bus, she used this bus to make me think the words meant more to her than any other politician or leader vying for not just my support but the support of millions of others.  I’m still hanging on, hoping that I’m not alone in believing she can fix this crap.  I’m actually clinging to the thought that she knows this and is therefore at the very, very, very least "reconsidering" versus actually planning on a run.  If not I’ve seriously misjudged my perceptions.  Maybe there is a way of doing things "unshackled" but I can’t find them in my universe.

If she doesn’t run something is not right in this world, up is down and down is up.  If this guy and his accomplices in the media can get away with this stuff during a first term imagine what a second and final term would end up doing.  That _____ __ ____ will end up as the biggest thief in the history of the world.  This has to stop.  In addition to hearing "It starts here, it starts now", I want to hear "It ends here, it ends now".

I think it’s time to go chop some wood before I get too carried away.

    • AmericanDream12

      final term

If he gets a second term – and without Sarah he will – why do you think he will not stay for ever? Unless he get bored destroying the country, or actually after he HAS destroyed the country that will not be fun anymore for him to stay, would be so easy for him to stay there for ever, with the very little fight we the conservatives put up to counter him.

Follow the money – this guy, if he ever leave the White House, will have BILLIONS stashed somewhere, coming from all the cronies he helped with OUR money.

And all the people we got elected in 2010 are doing NOTHING to stop that rape of America.

Yes, I am SOOOOOO mad …I repeat – rinse and repeat – I am SOOOOOOO mad.

Sarah, I cannot believe I was so wrong about you and your patriotism. If you don’t reappear soon to save America WITH THE HIGHEST TITLE YOU CAN GET, then I will definitely think I was very very wrong about you. What ashame!

    • Jack Franklin

      Todd, you are not alone!

    • TexS2012

      Amen brother, Amen!

"It starts here, it starts now", I want to hear "It ends here, it ends now".

  • onlycuda12

You can bet your last dime that the left press is digging hard into the GOP skeletons on these crony capitalism issues and they will find them. Almost no one in DC is clean on this. K st and the big donors control the place. Its going to get ugly folks.

  • $8196935

The list is growing of the many Solendra type deals Obama is dumping Billions of Dollars of
tax payers  money to his supporters.

Some of these were presented to Bush and he and his adm. saw Solendra and others were a lost cause
and did not bail them out.

Obama turns around knowing this and  makes it even worse.

Remember Obama is ACORN, this is the way he operates

  • onlycuda12

The thing is this stuff did not just start yesterday. This has been going on for years it was going on when the GOP controlled congress and the presidency too. True Obama has taken it to a whole new level. Isn’t that really why we are all still here. She is the only one to take on the corruption in her own party. Until we do that we can never take on the corruption in the marxist party. How can we be expected to vote for people that have been part of the GOP machine for decades. Who are also taking money from the same donors. Lets clean our own house. We need to start in our own party where we have some power. We cant control the libs but we can support and vote for candidates who are pure of heart and character when we find them. We can no longer settle for less.

  • section9

    This is damned upsetting.

BTW, the Bushies were in this up to their asses with Kellogg, Brown, and Root and Halliburton. They got sweetheart deals to run the civilian contracting deals in Iraq and made billions off the Bushtards. The taxpayer got ripped off.

It’s the same old same old. The Democrats are worse for one reason; they claimed to be both different and better, and they lied.

  • section9

BTW, the question needs to be asked: WHY is the NY Times and Newsweak tossing Obama under the bus like this?

What is going on? Cui bono?

None of this stuff is being reported by accident.

    • CBDenver

That is the million dollar question.  What have they got up their sleeves?

    • BostonBruin

Perhaps they realize Obama is likely to lose next year and they are hoping the DNC will boot him out at the convention and nominate someone else.

    • Todd Underwood

They knew it was going to come out anyway.  This way they get to insert their spin and help lessen the gravity of it all.  They may have it now, but it’s going to spread like wildfire.  I think they know there are some things they can’t ignore totally.
