Governor Palin: Mourdock For Indiana

Governor Palin endorsed Richard Mourdock over establishment favorite, Dick Lugar in the Indiana GOP Senate primary race.

Via Facebook:

I join commonsense conservatives in endorsing Richard Mourdock to be the next Senator from Indiana. Conservatives of all stripes are uniting behind Richard Mourdock. It’s not just Indiana that benefits from sending the right Senator to serve for the right reasons; the nation as a whole benefits, and that is one reason why the eyes of so many around the nation are focused on the Indiana race.

Indiana deserves a conservative in the Senate who will fight for the Hoosier State, uphold our Constitution, and not just go along to get along with the vested interests of the permanent political class in D.C.

Richard Mourdock is the conservative choice for Indiana. Senator Lugar’s 36 years of service as a Senator are appreciated, but it’s time for the torch to pass to conservative leadership in Washington that promises to rein in government spending now.

Yes, we should thank Sen. Lugar for his lifetime of service and give him his well deserved otium.
    The obvious replacement is Mourdock.
Sarah, you are on top of it again!

    • Reynolds88

Otium?  Hmmm, Really I have to look that upium, lol.

      • free4now

‘otium’ means leisure time or something like that.  It’s Latin.  Clever, Lennart.  :)

  • Dan C

Good call Sarah! I really like this endorsement!

  • ConservativeCanadian

And so Sarah’s campaign season begins.

    • TSM_Admin

Yes, I think that is the first endorsement this year!  (She did endorse that judge in WI, was that early this year or late last?)

      • Rightmindedmom

That was last year – David Prosser.  He won after 7,000 votes in Waukesha weren’t counted at first.  Now the Lefties want to throw our Governor out — for getting Wisconsin’s fiscal house in order — exactly what he promised to do.  I think Wisconsin will re-elect Scott Walker, because he has made a big difference in local and county governments all over the state.

  • heshtesh

Ya i’m starting to get a  sence where Gov. Palin is going to be irrelevant in the upcoming  elections./:)

  • Lou Gutnicki

    It’s so inspiring…

Sarah is the warrior’s warrior. When one avenue of the battlefield is closed, she manages to find another and gets right back into the thick of battle to help ultimately win the war.

Sarah Palin is truly an inspiration.

We should link it everywhere possible, especially to those who don’t like Sarah!

    • n4cerinc

      That article says this: "
Remember, both Romney and Mitch Daniels have endorsed Lugar so he’s gotten the Republican establishment’s gold-star seal of approval." – I didn’t realize Romney did this.

  • mainelysteve

    TAKE THAT R.N.C. !!!!!!!

    • mark1955

Yeah, I wonder if Karl Rove will still think Sarah’s endorsement is’t worth "Snot",if Mourdock wins!

  • section9

Well it’s about dadgum time she started endorsing Movement people over the RINO backstabbers who knifed her over the past several years.

She endorsed Hatch, however, so we’re stuck with that.

We need that Mia Love endorsement.

    • polarfan

      Sorry, Sarah never endorsed Hatch….

      • wpmwindsong

While not an official endorsement like sending out an announcement, it is an endorsement.

        • Biamciuil80

I don’t believe that was an endorsement. She was not ready to take a side in a race she had not studied so she just said nice things about Hatch rather than get bogged down in a discussion she was not prepared for. Another example of her excellent instincts

    • hrh40

Mia Love ia a Romney gal, I’d bet on it. Won’t bother me if Palin doesn’t get on the Love bandwagon.

      • blueniner

Tammy Bruce has a new "Love" affair with Mia Love, she was really touting her this morning as she was subing for Laura Ingraham.

    • wisetrog

Are u stupid? If he wins, hatch will chair the finance committee. That is why i am sure, freedomworks is running a phony "conservative" to take him out. the bush gang will get their guy nominated to that position. palin knows if she has hatch on there, she will have an ally on this very important committee.

      • ? Jim ?

I suggest YOU are the ‘stupid’ one. Conservatives don’t care what committee positions a liberal GOPE may get. We are against them even being elected in the first place.  Hatch is a GOPE!

        • wisetrog

He most definitely is not. He was  aReagan ally who turned a little liberal to survive the Bush years. But he will loyally back Palin unlike many so called tea party idiots who used her and then knived her in the back.

          • Myrajean Allado

But you can hatch in the snow,it’s cold though.

          • ? Jim ?

I got my first taste of Hatch during the Judge Thomas hearing and have not liked him since.

    • patnatasha

if hatch loese then snowe will replace him on the committee and the question then becomes who would you rather have hatch or snowe?

      • BostonBruin

Olympia Snowe is retiring and will not be running for re-election this November.

        • ? Jim ?

Thanks – Ya saved me a reply  ;-)

        • Ory Hebert

It chaps my ass when these people say they’re "retiring."  It implies they think their job is just a permanent placement and not an elected position that belongs to the People.

They all think they’re damn princesses.

      • c4pfan

        It doesn’t matter!

  • ? Jim ?

Lots of details on the race between Lugar and Mourdock over at Legal Insurrection.

    Conclusion by LI:

The Mourdock campaign represents a dynamic future, the Lugar campaign represents a distant past. Lugar hasn’t lost yet. But he’s losing it. And he knows it.

  • Pete Petretich

It looks like Dick Lugar and Orrin Hatch are the canaries in the coal mine for November, 2012…

    • ? Jim ?

If we can oust Lugar and Hatch we anti-GOPE conservatives will have won a big battle.  It’s the ‘establishment’ who have driven us to be willing to accept an unknown over them.

  • Jean_A

Gov. Palin has to do more than endorse.  She needs to get in there and campaign for the guy.

    • BostonBruin

The Tea Party Express is having rallies tomorrow and Sunday in Indiana. Maybe she can be there on Sunday. That might seal the deal.

      • Christopher H Fromme

The TPX started today in Pittsburgh, they have the same mission as SarahPac.  There bus tour travels the midwest and ends up in Texas for Ted Cruz.  They are taking on the GOPe also..

    • friskyness

She only goes where she is invited

  • BostonBruin

    Tweeted by Richard Mourdock:

Thank @sarahpalinusa for her support by posting on Facebook …

  • Pete Petretich

LOL, Mitch Daniels endorsed Dick Lugar today, who is running against Richard Mourdock.
    Is that any surprise?

    The GOPe protects their own…

    • janesixpack

yep, just this week i heard a long-winded campaign ad on the radio, of daniels talking up lugar.  i had to laugh.  so predictable.

  • TEXs

Sarah Palin thanks RINO Lugar for 36 years of "service".

    Hahaha….LOL…….Very funny line….

I bet she’s writing this and telling Tod "Old RINO should be in jail with many others for all damage
    they’ve done to this country."

  • Abby4

via Joel Pollack…’It’s On:  Palin Backs Mourdock Over Lugar In Indiana Senate Race’…

"One of the biggest issues in the campaign–aside from a controversy about Lugar’s residency–has been Lugar’s support for both of President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominees, despite concerns about their left-wing records and philosophical beliefs. Palin’s emphasis on conservative beliefs reflects the debate that is taking place within the Republican Party in Indiana and nationwide, as well as a general weariness–shared by all voters–with long-term incumbents. The endorsement carries great weight with the Republican grassroots, and could play a decisive role in the May 8 contest."

With her endorsement today and fundraising letter sent out yesterday talking about supporting Tea Party candidates in the House and Senate, this is an intresting development.  We’ll have to see what she does over the next few months.  I suspect there will be more endorsements coming.  And, I think she is going to stay very far away from the Presidential race.  In fact, if Mitt does emerge as the nominee out of Tampa, my guess is that she makes at most one appearance for him, if that, and does nothing else for him.

Remember, she said back in 2010 that if no one stepped forward who she could support with all her heart, she would run herself.  However, she is not in the race and she is not endorsing anyone.  Obviously, she wants Obama defeated, but she also said a few months ago that she believes the Obama camp wants to face Romney because they think he will be the easiest to defeat.  Governor Palin herself said in 2010 the strongest opponent for Obama would be someone who can draw a sharp contrast.  That is obviously not Mitt.  So, does Governor Palin believe that Obama will beat Mitt?  I suspect so.  Wanting Obama to be defeated and believing it will happen are two completely different things.  And, could this be the reason she is sitting out this POTUS race?  She saw the fix was in, so instead of allowing her own political destruction to take place, she will focus on Congressional races this time around to neutralize BO as much as possible, and then fight the real battle in 2016?  I don’t know.  But, I will predict that over the next 6 months she will focus heavily on Congressional races and do virtually nothing for Mitt, assuming he is the nominee, other than saying she supports him and Obama must be defeated.

One more thing- she endorsed Mourdock on the same day that Mitt said he was going to stay neutral in the IN Senate race.  Not a coincidence.

  • Paul

Will send a check. Money is the life blood of politics.

  • Timothy Jacques

I had a sense she was gonna endorse Mourdock.  I’ve been following the race on the website "Legal Insurrection" for quite some time.  Lugar is downright DESPERATE!!!!

Come May, the Cuda will have a new trophy for her mantle.

  • Timothy Jacques

Could Mia Love (UT-4) or Michael Williams (TX-25) be next?

    • ? Jim ?

I would love – LOVE to have The Governor endorse Mia Love.
