Michelle McCormick, an Organize4Palin volunteer based in Texas yesterday discussed her experience in Iowa, the “Reload Retreat” in Phoenix, AZ, and shared her thoughts on the GOP race on Sarah Palin Radio.
During 2011, McCormick had been driving and flying to Iowa each weekend and ultimately took a leave of absence from her job to join Peter Singleton, Organize4Palin’s Iowa State Coordinator in laying the ground work for a potential Sarah Palin 2012 POTUS candidacy. She met Gov. Palin in Pella, IA at a screening of the Undefeated and described how the former Alaska governor barely moved from place to place as she tended to the crowds that swarmed her to have their special moments with her. She lauded Gov. Palin’s advance team as being equally gracious and professional.
The women who organized the San Diego and Chicago C4P meetups organized a “Reload Retreat,” which was held two weeks ago in Phoenix, AZ for friends and colleagues to decompress and spend time in each others’ company in a more informal setting. They spent the weekend in the desert and attended a baseball game. Rebecca Mansour, SarahPAC called into the retreat.
Though McCormick does not like Romney as a candidate, she said if he becomes the nominee, she will follow Gov. Palin’s lead and “do my job” and vote for him. Gov. Palin has said multiple times that if Romney became the nominee she would support him 100%. McCormick said that defeating Obama is essential, referencing Supreme Court justice appointments and suspects that Romney is now poised to merely sprint to nomination.
McCormick thanked Gov. Palin in a shout-out for motivating her to get involved in politics and said she hopes to help out in local campaigns moving forward. McCormick said if Gov. Palin chose to run for office later on, she would be there to support her; if Gov. Palin chooses to stay on her current path of helping other candidates and shaping the debate as a private citizen, McCormick would support that effort likewise.
