We were first introduced to Anderson Cooper‘s uncontrollable laughing during his RidicuList segment about Gerard Depardieugetting thrown off a flight for allegedly urinating on the aisle carpet. It caught so much attention that Cooper then put himself on the RidicuList for losing it. Well, the infectious laughter is back. On Tuesday night’s segment, Cooper attempted to get through a segment about Dyngus Day (which is a thing) — but, halfway through, totally lost it.
“Anyone who missed out on Dyngus Day” was the subject of the RidicuList. Dyngus Day, Cooper dutifully informed us, ” isn’t a totally fake holiday,” but rather, “a Polish-American tradition celebrating the end of lent.” Festivities consist of parades, parties and lots of drinking. Who can argue with that? The word “dyngus,” he said, “can be traced back to the medieval word meaning worthy, proper or suitable.”
Cooper then described one of the particular festivities: “The quirky rituals have boys sprinkling girls they fancy with water, and the girls striking back with a tap from a pussy willow branch.” And then he lost it. Bursting into an uncontrollable fit of laughter, Cooper at one point, got up and walked away. “Just gotta let it out,” he chuckled. And that he did.
