A Mandate is Not a Tax Says … Mitt Romney

I’ve written myriad posts over the past three years arguing that Mitt Romney was the worst possible candidate the Republicans could nominate to exploit the public’s hatred of Obamacare, and that his nomination would take the issue off the table as an effective GOP weapon since, among other things, he’s the grandfather of Obamacare and its individual mandate. Yesterday the Supreme Court’s decision to label the mandate a tax handed the GOP a potent weapon.  Or so I thought.

Now let’s compare what Romney said to what Obama said when asked a similar question:

What’s the difference between the two? How will the Mittster be able to exploit this in the general election?  Does anyone believe the Democrats won’t use this video to discredit Romney as a hypocrite? Just asking.

Remind me again, GOP Establishment: Why is Mandate Mitt the best candidate to take on Obama in the fall?
