Governor Palin’s Statement on the RNC

Governor Palin won’t be giving a speech at this year’s Republican National Convention. Via Gretawire:

“…Everything I said at the 2008 convention about then-candidate Obama still stands today, and in fact the predictions made about the very unqualified and inexperienced Community Organizer’s plans to “fundamentally transform” our country are unfortunately coming true. This year is a good opportunity for other voices to speak at the convention and I’m excited to hear them. As I’ve repeatedly said, I support Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan in their efforts to replace President Obama at the ballot box, and I intend to focus on grassroots efforts to rally Independents and the GOP base to elect Senate and House members so a wise Congress is ready to work with our new President to get our country back on the right path. This is imperative.

  • IsraeliCojones

Hats off, John_Frank. You were right.

I’ve underestimated the depth of their idiocy.

Good luck Romney/Ryan: you gonna need it and then some.

    EDIT:

That said I’m glad she ended the speculation herself.

    Thank you, Governor.

    • Al B.

No surprise here except I don’t underestimate their idiocy nor their arrogance, vengefulness, lust for power and hatred for us common folk.

      • IsraeliCojones

Their main problem was allowing her – or not – a national audience that would have raised her profile for 2016. This was the main point, IMO.

If not, why prevent her from clobbering Obama at the Convention?

        • Right_Wingnut

No. They think she will cost the ticket votes. This is how RINOs think. Why is that so hard to understand?

          • IsraeliCojones

Because even the RINOs have seen, like you and I have seen, that almost each time this toxic lady is opening her mouth to endorse someone, that someone wins…

            • Right_Wingnut

You and I believe that you win by motivating your base supporters.

They believe you win by winning over Democrats.

They think Sarah is "toxic" to their cause.

              • IsraeliCojones

                This, I agree.

It’s not the Stupid Party for nothing, right?

Losing your own Base in order to gain a support that won’t even be there.

                • socon

This is just the latest incarnation of the power struggle within the Republican party between the Conservatives and the RINOs.

                  Reagan/George Bush I redux.

              • socon

The only thing Sarah is "toxic" to is their grip on power.

              • socon

Well, if their cause is victory, they’re obviously lying.  Sarah wins and they know it.

              • everythingispolitics

Obama got many people who voted for Bush in 2004 to vote for him in 2008. We will get people to vote Romney in 2012 that voted Obama in 2008.

            • everythingispolitics

In Republican primaries. Their concerns are over a national election that is open to Republicans and Democrats. Sarah’s negatives are still around 60 while her brand id is at 100. I think it’s a sound strategy by the campaign though it will hurt many feelings around here.

              • IsraeliCojones

                In Republican primaries.

Yeah. With their own Base, that’s right.

Their concerns are over a national election that is open to Republicans and Democrats.

So you are confirming that they prefer to court Democrats, than their own Base? Thank you for this.

Sarah’s negatives are still around 60 while her brand id is at 100

                 Sources?

                • everythingispolitics

Isn’t it obvious that is what the plan is? We’re all voting for Romney regardless. There are Democrats and independents who voted for Obama in 2008 who are not voting for him now. These people, while being disappointed with the president, are still very much against Sarah and what they think she stands for. These are the people that we should be aiming for, Both sides have their bases. The key is getting people who switch back and forth each election to vote for you this time.
                  http://www.pollwatchdaily.com/2011/05/10/gingrich-starts-presidential-quest-with-high-name-recognition-but-also-has-negatives/

                  • IsraeliCojones

Who is this "we" you are talking about? Pretty irritating. Please speak for yourself only. There are plenty of Conservatives who’ll stay home, don’t kid yourself.

Now, for your link, not only it’s from 1 year ago, but you may have missed the last paragraph…

                  • everythingispolitics

Well, Sarah Palin is no longer a candidate running for office or even being considered for running for office so this is the last time the data was compiled. If you have updated data, please post. We is everyone who believes in Sarah’s mantra of Anybody But Obama which I’m assuming is the vast majority of us. The key to this election is to get people who didn’t vote in ’08 or voted for Obama in ’08 who are disappointed where we are to vote for Romney. The polling data suggests that Sarah is not the best advocate to appeal to these people.

          • c4pfan

Yes.  That’s what breaks my heart for Sarah.  She always tries to see the best in things, but the cold, hard fact is that the GOP wants nothing to do with her.

            • jerseymark

Let’s see if she sticks around in the Party after the election. I want to see immediately after the election an initial move to establishing a third party. We could do it ourselves of course, but the whole thing would come together much better and easier with her at the head.

            • Dennis Hastings

If she ‘always tries to see the best in things’, why does her recent statement say almost nothing about either Romney or Ryan and, in fact, goes on to talk almost exclusively about what Obama has done wrong? If she always tries to see the best in things one would think that she would be making positive statements about conservative policies and about how wonderful Mitt Romney and Ryan are. Ryan likes to hunt and fish. You would think that she would really connect with him. But she has had almost nothing to say about them that is positive.

          • navak

Not to mention outshining Romney.  Snore

        • Lakerfanalways

Id like to know if Michelle Bachmann has been invited to speak..if this is all about "Fresh Faces" than no way will Bachmann be allowed to speak..now we all know this "Fresh face" story from the GOP-E is a bunch of BS

          • IsraeliCojones

This fresh face thingy doesn’t come from them, but from Sarah (her own way to be gracious…).

I mean, McCain, Huckabee, fresh faces?

            • Right_Wingnut

              And Jeb Bush.

              • anyonebutbarry2012

                no kidding

    • smbren

She may have declined their offer. She had stated she received a letter and was waiting to hear in what capacity they wanted her to speak. I would imagine that the word "tea party" is not allowed at the convention. We shall see, and I could be wrong.  but telling her what she can and cannot say will not work for her….not anymore. I am okay with it, either way. Sarah Palin has a much bigger audience than the RNC. I will go out on a limb and say that no republican that could utter the word tea party will speak.

Every candidate gets to run their campaign, don’t read too much into it and please do not be upset. Sarah Palin is not upset about this. She has never taken her ball and went home.

      • IsraeliCojones

but telling her what she can and cannot say will not work for her…

Precisely, but they knew that already, didn’t they?

When you’re making an offer the other party is obligated to refuse, you still bear the responsibility of the outcome…

She has never taken her ball and went home.

It’s now a clear possibility that she will after November 6th…

        • jerseymark

          We can only hope.

      • kateorjane

Sorry but that is excuse making for the RNC.  I understand that a candidate is entitled to run the campaign he wants but Palin would have to be inhuman not to be upset about this last insult.

And don’t pretend it isn’t an insult.IMO the Romney people wanted nothing to do with Gov Palin and the only reason they were halfway nice was they were trying to figure out how to get around her without offending her and her supporters.  Now with the acceptance Ryan has receiived they have thrown Palin under that bus and are quite happy they don’t have to deal with someone they feel is beneath them

  • Jean_A

I won’t be voting for Romney.

    End of story.

    • http://twitter.com/VWMama Nancy Wilson

So who will you vote for?

      • c4pfan

She already said she would write in Sarah’s name.

      • Jean_A

        Sarah Palin

        End of story.

    • IsraeliCojones

You already stated this before that, right? ;-)

      • socon

More people won’t vote for Romney now.

        • IsraeliCojones

           Sure, this is expected.

        • Ann Virginia

I’m one of them not voting for RnR!

          • socon

They might regret their betrayal of Sarah.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Carolyn-Dixon/100000062171632 Carolyn Dixon

       me either.

    • TeflonWarrior

Jean_A, you know I think I’ve decided something, I’m going to vote for Obama. Not because I like him (in fact I detest him), but because if this is the kind of perverted politics we’re game for, that we’ve allowed to come crawling up to represent Republican Americans, we need something even worse to open up our eyes.

Uhhh, no Mr Romney, I don’t care if you are the parties pick, you’re not mine.

    • Controse

      Please reconsider.

    • xthred

Finally. Someone who understands me. ;)

    • BlueGood

OMG Can the RNC really be THAT STUPID to NOT let Sarah speak???

They’re gonna blow this one as they did in ’08.

Shakin’ my head…how can they NOT let the MOST Genuine and HONEST Conservative speak?

It seems to me, the RNC and RINOS are AFRAID of the LSM…

RNC!!!! Show some heart, a tiny bit of the Ginormous Heart that Sarah and her family have for America!

Wish the heck I could do more from Canada….

    • patriot173

Jean Please! Don’t go there if you want to be a Palinista! Sarah WILL support Romney to get obama out of the WH……You and all who want to stand with Sarah MUST  STAND WITH HER!

    • everythingispolitics

Then Obama will win. Is that what you want?

  • Chorine
  • Right_Wingnut

I hate to say it, but I to–…

    Oh, never mind.

  • celestiallady

    She also said:
For the sake of America’s solvency and sovereignty we must close this nonsensical book in November…”- Sarah Palin

  • Lakerfanalways

This means she’s not invited to speak..fine GOP you wont invite her to speak, I WONT WATCH..The GOP has to be the stupidest people on the planet, they have NO problem having Santorum speak but they have issues with Sarah Palin speaking..absolutely idiotic but not a shock, Romney’s people have been trashing Sarah since day 1 so that their golden boy Romney would be the nominee in 2012..screw you GOP, your lucky that Obama is such a dismal failure otherwise I would stay home in November

    • $26225604

well that is probably true but where did she say that she wasnt invited ?

      • Lakerfanalways

If she had been invited she would have said so, so she’s not coming..she can have her own convention and I would take the first flight to see her. Screw the GOP Establishment RINO party

        • anyonebutbarry2012

she said a couple weeks back romney’s people had talked to her people.
but that does not mean she was not invited. she may have chosen to stay out of it. she is a conservative. they are gop.

          • pupzillamom

it’s fine if SHE decided to decline, not ok if they didn’t invite her. That’s despicable. Not taking the freakin’ deal. She has served and continues to serve her country with honor and distinction. D-O-N-E with GOPe.

            • anyonebutbarry2012

oh ya the gop stinks agree, we need a 3rd party. she may though have declined, leaving them to explain why. we do not have the minute details. she did say she was contacted a couple weeks back, so they did do that. sarah is not going to do something she is not comfortable with, you know she is holding her nose same as us to vote for him.

              • pupzillamom

                delete

                • jerseymark

If they made an offer they knew she could not accept that would be an offer not made in good faith and is not actually an offer at all. However, we are not privy to the terms of any offer made.

                  • pupzillamom

best to let it go..true we don’t know the background. Job 1 is a new president, so much at stake. As I said, I’ll vote, but donations only to SarahPAC. Standing with the Gov.

      • Kathleen

I think it’s implied in this phrase:
"This year is a good opportunity for other voices to speak at the convention and I’m excited to hear them."

      • c4pfan

Do you always have to give some excuse to the GOP?

        • anyonebutbarry2012

well to be honest, she never said she was not invited.,

        • AngelaTX

Yes, she does. Bottom line, she said she wanted to speak. They either didn’t want her, or offered her something really crappy in order to say "Hey, we offered her something".

        • $26225604

what does this have to do with the gop? you are so off base. i read all the posts here about people being upset about sarah not speaking so i read her statement and didnt see that she said that. maybe i dont read into words as much as others

          • socon

             Guess you were wrong.

      • http://www.solitudebooks.com/ Dan C

LOL, well she might have been invited to speak at 3AM with her whole speech written for her by Romney’s flunkies.

        • Lakerfanalways

Romney already stole some of her stuff today..he said today at some campaign stop that he doesnt want America to become like California..gee Romney did you think of that all on your own..Nah he didnt, cause that is EXACTLY what Sarah wrote last night..so he will steal her stuff just wont let her speak..last week someone from the Romney campaign called my house asking my Mom if she will donate 2500 to his campaign..at first she thought he said 25 bucks but when he repeated 2500 she started laughing at him..I mean seriously asking someone over the phone for 2500 bucks she told him "Are you joking is this a joke" and hung up on him

          • socon

I throw away all of the Mitt mailers.  $2500?  Really?

Someone really is out of touch!

            • Lakerfanalways

yeah my Mom was stunned she thought she misunderstood him but then he said it again..2500..so I guess back then they really needed the money LOL

            • philip127

I can’t get the dummies to stop mailing me! I gotten at least 4 pieces of mail a week for 2-3 months. I’ve never send him a dime! I’ve don’t bother opening them.

Within a two week period I recieved 4 of the same glossy envelops with pics inside.

He’s going to have to get at least a $100+ to cover what he has spend on mailings to me.

My money goes to SarahPac & people Sarah asks us to help period!

              • socon

Well, they obviously don’t need our money if they’re mailing you that much crud.

  • juju341

What a lady.  I am proud to support her in her convictions that BO must be defeated and as
a follower of Palin for the past 4 years I too will vote fo the Rep. candidates.  She will rally the
troups in her own way and that the the best way.  We have not heard the last from this lady
and her book will tell all…

  • JApost

    FU mitt romney.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Temitope-Arsenal/100001555359219 Temitope Arsenal

To those of you that call yourself Gov PALIN SUPPORTERS  you have a chance now to prove it. You have seen that the Romney camp has absolutely zero respect for her and did not even invite her to the convention .BY doing this Romney is saying to US all that he does not need our vote,so why should we give it to him?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Carolyn-Dixon/100000062171632 Carolyn Dixon

he and the gope won’t be getting my vote.  i’ll vote the conservatives on the ballot for house and senate.  want to know what the gope threatened her with.

    • c4pfan

We had are chance and there isn’t enough support anymore.

    • juju341

Because Sarah wants us to and because this is Sarah’s position…"Defeaat BO"…but,
if you would rather follow Romney’s position and be a spoiler…have at it.  If you think that
makes any difference to Romney you are wrong….but, it does make a difference to Palin….
Whose side would you rather be on???

      I rather take Sarah’s position.

      • socon

Oh, I disagree.  If enough of us don’t vote for Romney it most certainly will make a difference to him.

    • anyonebutbarry2012

      because sarah asked us to

    • socon

       Gotta’ agree.

  • Al B.

I’d also be shocked if she goes to Tampa at all.  She’d be setting herself up to be blamed for being "divisive".  She’s too smart for that.

    • myfairlady

Well she can go to the convention as a delegate, alternate or guest.  They can’t keep her from the convention.  Her going there is not divisive why in the world would you say something like that.  Poppy Cock!  She’s not a criminal or something.

      • c4pfan

For AK?  I don’t think so.

      • excopconservative

She is not an AK delegate, nor an alternate.  She has not been invited as a guest as of today.  She could go to the door and be turned away but she is too classy for that.  She wasn’t on the Fox list for a press pass.  She could go to the Ron Paul events in Tampa the week prior to the convention and try to sell them on the ticket.  They probably share the same enthusiasm level that we do.

Sarah is the girl who didn’t get invited to the party.  Standing outside shaking her fist is not her style, but forgetting about the snub isn’t likely either.  None of us will forget.

        • amaze830

Gov. Palin can still go to Tampa.  I know she reserve some space at the mall, but I have not heard the specific reasons for her to reserve space at the mall.

    • 4rcane

why is she divisive? For speaking truth?

      • socon

Only liars see Sarah as divisive.

    • amaze830

They always blame her.  It does not matter what it is.  Gov. Palin is not divisive.  Obama and Romney are the ones that are divisive.  Obama is always dividing people and Romney is dividing the conservatives and the establishment Republicans.  This is no way to win an election.  If Romney don’t win, you can bet they will try to blame it on Gov Palin and the Tea Party.  I would not put anything past these people.

    • SaraPFan

She’s given previous interviews saying she’s going to be in Tampa. She’s already reserved a booth in Tampa during the convention week. She didn’t state that her booth was going to be at the stadium where the RNC convention will be held but there will be a lot of activities going on in Tampa during the week. The city is making preparations for the influx of people. She reserved a booth near the convention center.

  • Kathleen

    Oh crud.

    Just…crud.

This is wrong on so many levels.

  • conservativemama

What a lousy position we’re in.  I’m terrified of a 2nd Obama term, but I’m so angry with Romney and the GOPe.

    God………………………this just bites.

    • Kathleen

      I wholeheartedly agree.

    • c4pfan

Until people speak up and say something, this is always going to happen.

      • palintologist

I look for Levin to bring it up.  Soon.

    • navak

I agree, and have lost the passion I had during the 2008 race, due to Palin….BUT I am more afraid of what Obama wants to do to this country, so I will hold my nose and vote R/R.  I do like Ryan, but he arouses no passion or interest really.  Romney, whatever……

    • smbren

She could have declined herself. We don’t like it, but the reality is that the media is liberal. The media is biased. The media (unfortunately) has the power to make or break a campaign. Sarah Palin defies the media, along with Breitbart (rest his blessed soul). Her not speaking at the convention isn’t a big deal.

They expected her to go home, hurt, humiliated, and defeated in 2008. She has risen above it all, she has accomplished more than any one person. She is a role model to me. The republican party has always had to fight the media, they run their campaigns accordingly, and so it goes. For me this election is not about Romney or Ryan or any one of them, including Sarah Palin. I want Obama out and then I will work from there. I for one cannot wait to see the SarahPac ads!!!!

      • conservativemama

Yes, you make many good points here and I’m with you.  Well said.

      • Betsey_Ross

It’s all we can do for now.  Watch what Sarah does and follow her from there.  I hate it, but it is what it is.  Is she going to the rented space at all?  I hope that is still on.

I would love to see Sarah take out the shameless and stupid media.  I would love to see her team up with Newt, Breitbart.com, Sununu, and others by pointing out their biases and the willful ignoring of Obama and his administration’s record.  Set the crony capitalists on their @sses.

  • nkthgreek

So now what happens at the mall?

    • myfairlady

Well someone who lives there had posted, I believe last week that no one has been in contact with the mall to make any final plans.  So, maybe the Governor won’t even go to Tampa.  Who khows.  She said that she would love to hear other speak but for all we know, that could be on TV.

      • nkthgreek

You may be right. In her interview with Shannon Bream, she pointedly stated she wanted to stay out of the limelight. If she showed up at the mall, she’d quickly suck up the oxygen in Tampa.

If Sarah’s not even invited to the convention, that’s a BIG mistake. But with Romney’s current crop of advisors, it wouldn’t be a surprise.

  • kateorjane

Not surprised but not pleased.  They invited the idiot Huckabee!!!

Sounds like she won’t be doing anything for the ticket but will work fdowmticket or Congress.  So that means I’ may vote for R&R but that’s all I’ll do.

    • Lakerfanalways

But Hey, Huckabee is a "Fresh face" dont ya know LOL..oh and Chris Christie, he is such a bold figure, who aligns himself with Muslim extremists, but hey this is what the GOP-E is all about..fine..if Romney loses Sarah can go on TV and say "I TOLD U SO" either way our country is screwed..if Obama wins America is finished, if Romney wins we will have a jackass in the white house..either a Communist or a jackass, I can honestly say this is the worst election EVER

  • FrankinOhio

While looking up the meaning of genuine, I  got a brief description of Sarah Palin.

    1. real: having the qualities or value claimed
    2. sincerely felt: not affected or pretended
    3. candid: honest and open in relationships with others

    • DocBarry1

      Amen

    • JApost

      and romney’s the opposite

  • Quiet_Righty

I fear that Sarah Palin has just been exiled by the Republican Party. Fortunately, voters feel differently about her.

    • Right_Wingnut

Yes she has. They would like nothing more than to be done with her for good.

      • socon

That’s the way I feel about them.

You can count this as the day Mitt lost the election!!!

She might be an announcer for Fox…

No, she won’t.  She will be a talking head.

    • Right_Wingnut

The GOPe might not even want her in the building.

I know some are having trouble coming to grips with this, but this is how Team Romney and most of his supporters think.

If so, she won’t be in the convention hall.  Press passes were issued long ago and she wasn’t on the list.

I am NOT INTERESTED Anymore in This Year’s Republican National Convention ….PERIOD.

i love her talks, speeches, so it will be a huge disappointment if she isn’t heard from tampa.

I accepted what she said in Oct….and I haven’t had much interest in it since.  I am only interested in what Palin says.  Nothing about this is a surprise to me.  This is just politics
in full mode of power grabbing.   Sarah understands this and she will be at the convention
      and be on Fox.

Remember how she went to the Iowa Fair…it was like …."in your face" type thing…that
is what she will do now…and the reporters will be all over her like flies to honey.

The Rep. want her to whine and make a fuss and want her followers to be negative, and mad,
etc…because who else do they have….so you that are in that position you are making their
day.  Stand tall and support Sarah…there is another day.  This is the way many of us
felt about Reagan the first time he had to give in.

Yes I was thinking that Sarah will take a backseat for a time. And we will see what happens in Nov.  It feels alittle like being back at square one again. We had a chance to get Sarah in in 2008. Didnt happen. So we started over again with Tea Party and 2010. Then we had a chance to get Sarah back in again in 2012, didnt happen so we take a backseat for alittle while, AGAIN.  I hope someday the Tea Party wins the big prize. Not for Sarahs sake, but for the country.
