Houston Chronicle: Ted Cruz says Sarah Palin’s endorsement was ‘game-changing’ in his Senate win

A great article:

Sarah Palin might have been sitting out this year’s Republican National Convention, but that does not mean that she has been forgotten by the party faithful in Tampa.

Especially not by Ted Cruz, who credits her endorsement with helping him beat Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the race for the Texas GOP Senate nomination.

While speaking with POLITICO’s Mike Allen this morning, the Texas Republican Senate nominee called Palin’s endorsement “game-changing.”

“If you look at the senate races across the country this cycle and last cycle, Governor Palin has had a game changing impact one after the other,” explained Cruz.

Palin endorsed Cruz, a Tea Party favorite who shares her philosophy of liberty and limited government, just days before a wide-open May 29 primary, helping to propel Cruz into a strong second place showing. The Cruz surge provided momentum for his runoff battle with Dewhurst.

“In a Republican primary, everyone claims to be conservative and voters are pretty cynical. They are tired of these candidates that sounds great on the stump. They say they are going to cut spending, they get into the office and they become spineless jellyfish,” Cruz said. “I think conservatives trust Sarah Palin that if she says this guy is a conservative, that he is a real deal.”

You can read the whole thing here.

A wonderful piece.  The only unmentioned benefit of a Palin endorsement is that once she backs someone and they get elected, they tend to be held to a higher standard and tend to be held accountable.

Thank you, thank you, TED CRUZ!!

Just as INGRATITUDE and INJUSTICE come straight from the pit of Hell …

So GRATITUDE and JUSTICE, such as you, Sir, have shown to the Governor, are, IMHO, smiled on by Heaven!!

Let’s "Cruz" to victory in November!!

He’s a pk, preacher’s kid. When his Dad prayed, he made me and many more cry.

It seems to me that there are some politicians who owe a lot to Sarah Palin and they don’t seem to remember now that they’re in office.

    • mder4thegov

Nikki Haley and Kelly Ayotte come to mind.

      • bongobear

        Yes, they certainly do.

    • Carolyn Dixon

exactly.  none of them are grateful for her endorsements and the time she spent campaigning for them or giving them money from her pac.  not one word from them at the convention.  well we will remember.  and nikki haley is in trouble in sc.  wonder who she will call to come bail her out? will be the mobster mitt or the one who endorsed her our own sarah palin?

      • bongobear

        Well said.  Couldn’t agree more.

Great illustration why getting one’s butt in a tiff and sitting this election out should be a non-starter.

Elections have consequences, and this article is yet another reason why everyone needs to vote so we can win the down ticket elections.  And, with enough luck and conservative votes, build the clout to get rid of appointments like this:

Of course, what would you expect from Washington?

  • ZH100

    Great read!

  • kateorjane

They really tried to ignore his words about Palin’s impact.

  • BHliberty

    A great article!  Thanks!

Wow…Ted is true to his convictions…he is not ashamed to be on the same page as Sarah is..

He knows what crooks and cronies are in the GOP, some even masquerading as "tea party" ..

I love your discernment Ted, and your steel spine…

    Victory !!!!

  • Dan C

We need 60 more Ted Cruz’s in the senate!

    • Rightmindedmom

      You’ve got that right, Dan!

    • BlueGood

Funny how Ted forgot to mention this during his speech at the convention hunh??

      • fb274

Speeches had to be approved by team Romney!

    • Exgunman

That MIGHT even turn mitt into a republican, at least he could meet and know some…………………………..

Then Marylandians (the ones living in Maryland) should vote for Dan Bongino for the US Senate. That would make 4 senators (Deb Fischer and 3 others? Pls. correct if the info is wrong) and they are having a money bomb for him too.

      Here is his website:

I saw Ted honoring Sarah on cspan this morning. It was beautiful, especially having seen them together that day in The Woodlands. ?

Good for Ted Cruz. He seems to be the honest, principled American I believe him to be. The final test will come after he is elected., assuming he is, and I believe and hope he will be. But that’s when some conservatives who were assisted into office largely because of Palin, suddenly forget her.

  • RedDaveR

Thank you Ted Cruz. One of the few of her endorsees that truly understands the power of Palin.

  • myfairlady

Thank you Ted Cruz for letting the media know that Gov. Palin is a serious and ethical person who has a pulse on what the voters are thinking.  You are right, we do trust her judgment, and she is the real deal.
