What’s going on this morning?

The Governor called for "convictions over consultants, results over rhetoric, and Missouri over Washington" in her speech at a campaign rally/bbq for Sarah Steelman.

    My Dear Friends in Sarah,

    Happy Saturday to you all!

Below is the commentary on the next page of her wonderful book, Going Rogue.

Reflections on previous pages, along with photographs, may be found at:

    God bless you all always!!

    DEO VOLENTE, SARAH 2012!!!

On p. 105 of GR, Sarah commences the third chapter of the book, "Drill, Baby, Drill." She opens with a quotation from Coach John Wooden:

"Our land is everything to us.… I will tell you one of the things we remember on our land. We remember that our grandfathers paid for it—with their lives."

What a concise and powerful statement!!

I think that we shall find that it is even more powerful if we extend the sense of "land" from the physical basis and foundation of our lives and homes, and apply it to the philosophical underpinnings upon which the security of those same lives and homes depends.

This is most right and just. Man/woman has a dual nature, physical and mental/spiritual. Correspondingly, our lives, if they are to be stable and secure, must rest on a dual basis, one aspect of which is tangible, the other, intangible.

Let us first consider two concrete examples of this truth, both drawn from American classics.

Most or all of you are familiar, I would imagine, with the long-running television series "Bonanza." What was the legacy of Ben Cartwright to his three sons, Adam, Hoss, and Little Joe? Certainly, it was the splendid and magnificent ranch, the "Ponderosa"!!! However, along with this wonderful land, Ben transmitted to his sons the foundation, the "land" if you will, of traditions and principles by which to live. Courage, self-reliance, justice, generosity, magnanimity, cojones, standing up to bullies, protecting the weak and helpless …how often we witness these eternal virtues exercised by the Cartwrights in the great TV series!!

Ben’s legacy to his boys was LAND, a FOUNDATION, in the deepest and most human sense: Physical land and those principles without which no land can be safe and secure.

Let us next consider Margaret Mitchell’s classic of the old South, "Gone with the Wind."

As you probably know, the name of the O’Hara estate in Mitchell’s novel is "Tara." I do not think that it is a coincidence that "Tara" sounds just like the Latin word for land, "terra" (cf. our English word "terrestrial").

Can anyone who has read the book or seen the movie forget Gerald O’Hara’s magnificent encomium to his daughter, Scarlett, on the precious value of LAND?!?

However, it was more than just the physical property that Mr. O’Hara left to his family. Remember, for example, how Scarlett, after the Civil War/War between the States, shoots and kills a Yankee deserter who invades their home and is threatening vile actions!!

Scarlett is acting on eternal and American principles of the Second Amendment and the right of self-defense when she guns down the intruder–justifiable homicide!!

The examples could be multiplied, but it is clear that, along with the physical land, along with "Tara," an intangible legacy too descended to Gerald’s family.

(Of course, it goes without saying that slavery was a grave evil, and had to be ended. No society is perfect. This is why the Founders built the AMENDMENT process into our Constitution!)

Now let us proceed from fiction to history.

Behold the magnificent legacy of our Founders!!

Not only did they pledge "their lives, their fortunes, their sacred honor" to transform thirteen British Colonies into the original thirteen United States of America, but they handed on timeless traditions and principles too, intellectual and intangible foundation stones without which the States, once thirteen now fifty, cannot sit secure!!

They transmitted to us LAND, in the deepest and finest sense of the term!!

Next, let us observe and reflect upon the aims and actions of the COMMUNISTS who would destroy the Res Publica Americana.

They seek the annihilation of our "LAND" in all senses of the term.

First, they want to confiscate and redistribute wealth, unjustly taking it from those who hold it in JUSTICE because they have earned it, and give it to others, in order to create a helpless class of government dependents. Note well how ALL WEALTH may be understood under the term "LAND"!!

However, beyond unjustly seizing our land and wealth and possessions, these Marxists, of whom barack hussein obama and his vicious Chicago thugs are a prime and pestiferous example, want to overturn the TRADITIONS AND PRINCIPLES upon which our society is founded.

    Out with our Constitution, especially the First, Second, and Tenth Amendments;

    Out with religion;

Out with the traditional definition of marriage.

It has been a characteristic of Communist tyrants everywhere to attempt to separate a people from their national heroes, from their history, from their traditions–and we witness this vile effort operating at full speed right now in America–just look at the hideous attacks on Chick-Fil-A.

These fiends would fain wreck and destroy our institutions and traditions, that is, the "LAND," in the broader sense of the term, the SOLID "TERRA" upon which our society resides and sits and rests!!!

They want to take our "land" in every way!!

Therefore, we must DEFEND our "TARA," our "TERRA," in THREE senses:

    Our private property, as comprehended under the term "land";

    Our Republic, as comprehended under the term "Land";

Our Constitutional and foundational principles, as comprehended under "LAND," in the broadest sense.

And who better to lead America in this war to preserve our land, our Land, and our LAND than …

The great patriot from the Country of the Northern Lights …who

    Loves her home;

    Loves her country;

Loves her and our Constitution and founding principles!!!

Another one hit right out of the park!  Thank you BB!!

      • BrianusBerkleianus

        You are most welcome, daisy_mae!!

    • virginiagentleman1

WOW!  You continue to out do yourself with each new reading!    Some lyrics from a cowboy song come to mind;  Give me land, lots of land under starry skies above, don’t fence me in!  Morning to you brother Brian!

      • BrianusBerkleianus

Thank you so much, brother VG!!

        I love those cowboy lyrics.

What great TV classics we once had, with shows like "Bonanza" and "Rawhide," featuring the young Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates.

        Good morning and God bless!!

  • JamesColumbiaMo

It’s going to be a tough fight for Steelman.  The other two GOP candidates are heavily funded and running false attack ads saying that Steelman supported Jimmy Hoffa and that she is the same as McCaskill and Obama.  All lies.  I don’t care what the weather is going to be in Missouri on Tuesday, we need to get to the polls and vote for Sarah Steelman.  We can’t afford the status quo any longer!

    • BrianusBerkleianus

      Sarah and Sarah!!

    • blueniner

I have never heard of Steelmans opposition, but just seeing that video above, those two guys running against her look like more of the same old ,same old, John Boehner, Eric Cantor types, boring, power hungry, limp, cronies…..

    • virginiagentleman1

Take heart friend James, Sarah Palin has repeatedly shown us that even the best funded campaigns and candidates are now vunerable to the ‘WILL of the people’, and that massive money isn’t the dividing line anymore. Your Sarah Steelman will triumph !

      • BrianusBerkleianus

        Go, Sarah …

        … and Go, Sarah!!!

    Good morning all.

Paul Gigot: Governor Palin “Leading the Pack” on Monetary Policy  (November ,2010)

    From the article:

"In a Wall Street Journal editorial  the editors noted the degree of sophistication Governor Palin is bringing to the table as she attempts to focus the nation’s attention on the disastrous repercussions which must result from a further inflating of the currency. Specifically, she referred to QE2, the Fed’s plan to pump another $600 billion to as much as $1 trillion into the economy via the purchase of U.S. government securities. Paul Gigot, editor of the Wall Street Journal editorial page, discusses the editorial and Governor Palin in the video.

      Palin v. Bernanke
‘Her Warning To the Fed Chairman Puts Her Out in Front on the Debate on the Dollar’

      From the article:

"One of the questions in respect of 2012 is how it has happened that the only major Republican figure, aside from Congressman Ron Paul, to stand up and be counted on the dollar is Sarah Palin."

    • 2C714

ZH100, I appreciate your posts each day.

It is very important that everyone visiting this site should have access to
Gov. Palin’s accomplishments.  I am sure that many lurkers, and some on the
left, have had their eyes opened, via your links.

      • ZH100

         You are welcome, 2C714

      • Lynda

        So do I…

  • hoosfoos1

Who is the leader of the GOP?  Gov. Palin

Who stood up for Chick Fil A and Christian Values?  Gov Palin

Who is leading the fight to retake the Senate?  Gov. Palin

The Cruz victory was awesome.  The upcoming Steelman win will build momentum.

This is what Romney should be doing if he were running an effective campaign for President.  Instead he’s taking hits from Obama attack ads, flubbing a foreign tour, and disenfrachising the base by a tepid response on Chick Fil A.

Romney needs to watch and learn from a master at work.

The longer he waits to decide Palin’s role at the convention the weaker his position gets.

Convention delegates have a tough choice to make.  A vote for Romney at the convention is looking more and more like a vote for 4 more years of Obama.

    • BrianusBerkleianus

      Thanks, hoosfoos!!

    • juju341

Why do you keep believing all the bad stuff the MSM write and report about Romney…when
you and I both know how they have lied repeatedly about Sarah…they are doing the same
      with their reporting of Romney.

Delegates do not have a tuff choice to make at the convention….the vast majority will
cast their vote for the person that they pledged to vote for according to the results of the primaries….and Sarah wouldn’t want it any other way.  That is the way our country is
run…people vote and their votes should be honored.

  • MJosephSheppard

And still the television reports come. here is one from Fox11 with a Dem consultant agreeing that Palin is having a major effect on the Steelman campaign. The snark now is that the candidates she endorses who win will lose in November because her endorsement will put off moderates-never ending MSM Palin hate

    • OldGuyAZ

I’m sure Cruz is now in trouble in the general election in Texas after his huge victory.  Same for the other six "upsets" so far.  Sarah sure weakened them by campaigning for them in the primaries and getting them into the general election.  Liberal double talk…..Palin’s Tea Party people have no business winning the primaries.

This one will be interesting, if Steelman wins, the liberal heads will spin like a top .If she comes short it will be Sarah Palin’s fault.

Missouri, please get this  win for the rest of the country.  What a tremor this will cause.

    • virginiagentleman1

But WE know the truth of the matter MJ.
Palin is changing the dynamics of the House and Senate one candidate at a time. In 2010 simular words were spoken against her, yet the majority of her picks won their seats. They HAVE to attack her since she is destroying the comfortable lie they have fed us for so long!  Attack is the only weapon the dems and some GOPe’s have left. She out thinks and out manovers them at every turn.

Dem consultants (oxymoron/moron?) continue to express their faulty wisdom from a part of their bodies best suited for the elimination of wastes and has even less value.

Well, aren’t you a romantic little devil !God Bless all of you.Happy Birthday K.

        • virginiagentleman1

I do my best, Airborne! After all these years together, not only do I love her, I’m still ‘in love’ with her. Know what I mean?
Yes, I am blessed more richly then I deserve and I know it. Why she feel in love with me is one of lifes great mysteries, but I’m not going to question God or K!  God is all knowing, and the Mrs. is much smarter then me!
We are happy that you are healing so well!  If I know you, your medic friend won’t be able to collect his skydiving gift until YOU are able to step through the door with him! With your grit and determined focus, it won’t be long before you are back to full power. Hang in there with the PT my dearest friend, and soon enough you’ll be hanging in harness as you scream your defiant war cry AIRBORNE!

I got a huge laugh from your Ases is, well Ases! If anyone that I have ever known is a stone cold warrior, it is our Ases! May God have mercy on that lad’s enemies if he is hunting them! They have no idea that they are taking their last few breaths before he sends them to hell! I love that guy. He’s my kind of man!
Does Gracie have any problems with what he does in the service of our Republic? Not every woman is strong enough to be the wife of a warrior such as Ases. In fact, I’d say that damned few are.
Anyway, when he finally retires from wearing the camo, I hope he decides to channel his energy towards politics. Congress will never be the same once Ases walks its halls! We need many more men and women who have actually served in uniform in the Halls of Congress! People who understand what their Constitutional oath truely means!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great news about the wedding! And a beautiful place for it as well.

I read one of your comments on another site about Col. West. You know the one I’m referring to. I too, would take a bullet for him, and YOU, and Ases.

There is no need to send any of your ‘friends’, lol! ( Although I’d love to see the shocked face of the locals as your ‘friends’ chuted in!)
The Mrs. does a great job of keeping me in line! She’s tamed and gentled this old warrior with a love and kindness greater then any I have ever known, OC. WHODATHUNKIT!
Besides, your ‘friends’ are the most dangerous men on planet earth! This tiny little burg would never be the same if airborne troopers, green beanies, and delta’s dropped in for a visit!!

I just got off the cell with the Mrs. I read her your comment and she loved it!
She also said that her favorite ‘Lady Warrior’ sounds to be a little bit in love with a medic friend. Is that true OC?  How do you gals know this stuff about each other? I didn’t get that impression at all from your comment, but K did. I told you that she is smarter then me!

All our Love and prayers to you milady! From Green Acres !
P.S.  Give our best wishes and love to Grace, and the lad if you hear from him.  VG

          • Guest

Glad you got the message.I don’t want to stir up any crap over here or get you in trouble. This did say it’s an open thread?

            • virginiagentleman1

Milady, many, many commenters here read what you and Ases post on these pages.

From the moderators to the very newest commenter, all treat your words with respect and a few of the braver ones will "like" the comments from time to time.

Regardless of ones politics, when it comes to America’s defenders, past and present, most will get a look into a world of honor and sacrifice they themselves may never know.
For most, these posts are the closest they will ever come to rubbing elbows with Airborne, Green Berets, Delta’s and Seals, the best of the best.
They read what you have to say, get a tiny glimpse into your lives, and honor your privacy. Many want to respond to you but do not. They GET IT too, milady.
I know this because I e-mail with quite a few of the commenters here, just as you and I and Ases do.

Because you say that Grace is gold, I accept that as fact! As you know, not everyone can live the life, or deal with the realities of marring a man like our Ases. We understand his absolute warriors life, and well as his tender side! Ases is very blessed indeed to have Grace in his life. AND YOU AIRBORNE MOMMA!
May his blessing continue and he comes home safely! That is my daily prayer for him, everyday, without fail.

But I gotta tell ya, I just can’t get my mind wrapped around the concept of a "tamed" ASES!!!!!  Does not compute!  LOLOL!  I’m really gonna have to work on that one!
Ases/tamed? That HAS to be the ultimate oxymoron! Two words that could not possibly be further apart!

Your medic will go out the door with you!  He had to have the same training as Ases in order to be a medic on the teams. I want a picture of a big kiss between you two at 12,000 feet! At that altitude, y’all can linger over it for a moment or two!  Love you, Airborne.

Centrist Abheek Bhattacharya Writes that Palin “Did a Fine Job Bolstering Her Foreign-Policy Credentials in a Speech in New Delhi. (March , 2011)

    ‘Sarah Stateswoman
Sarah Palin hits the right notes in New Delhi while discussing the common values that tie the U.S. with India.’

    From the article:

"Sarah Palin did a fine job bolstering her foreign-policy credentials in a speech in New Delhi this month. She hit the right notes discussing the common democratic values and the similar geopolitical outlook that tie the U.S. with India. And she hailed New Delhi economic reforms that were launched 20 years ago and have deepened the bond.

“The relationship between our countries could shape the course of the next century, tilting it in the direction of free people and free markets,” she said.

The former Alaska governor also addressed how free-market reforms could inform energy policy. “My vision for a free and prosperous America has much to do with energy,” she said. That vision, on one side, involves getting out of the alternative-energy fad. Ms. Palin echoed recent reports from Scotland that show how this fad makes energy, and hence business, more expensive. For every green job created, nearly four other jobs are lost.

The other side of her vision involves developing the natural resources in America that regulations, like bans on offshore drilling, have “stymied.” In a time of high unemployment and high inflation, unlocking the country’s mineral wealth can both create jobs and provide larger supplies of oil and gas to ease high energy prices….

Rising demand from emerging economies in India and China makes energy security all the more crucial, said Ms. Palin."

Wow, I was just watching Bristols press conference, on the above thread video, she did great, she is so media saavy, she is quick witted, thoughtful, polite and she has that beautiful smile. I think the Liberal press would even say, she is damn likeable! I see a big future for Bristol.

    Excellent read!

‘Setting the Palin Record Straight’  (by Jedediah Bila; 3/17/2011)

"It’s truly astonishing the lengths that some will go to in order to try to discredit Sarah Palin.  Sure, the left-wing media loons are a given, but what about the folks on the Right who relentlessly brand her as unelectable, unintelligent, unpresidential, and/or unqualified?  What is their basis for those assessments?  And if she is so darn unelectable—why the need to consistently, near-obsessively attempt to tear her down?

What’s most interesting about the repeated attacks on Palin – from the Left and the Right – is that they are routinely empty. They are often featured in online hit pieces that are void of any reference to her record and/or her contributions over the past two years to discussions of national and international significance. They focus on absurd criticism of her TLC series, which so many elitists deemed anti-intellectual and so many regular Americans deemed relatable. They call her a “quitter” because she resigned from the governorship, but don’t reveal the reality that she was faced with numerous frivolous ethics charges made by political operatives that were costing her state hundreds of thousands of dollars and her staff countless hours to refute. The fact that she made the right decision for Alaska, and that the charges were all ultimately dismissed, get buried under the frenzied need some have to try to sabotage her at all costs.

And let’s not forget the manner in which the authors of these hit pieces so often compile every possible negative quotation on Palin they can find, particularly from the mouths of whom they consider to be the conservative intellectual elite.  The quotes are typically nonsensical and/or erroneous, and mark embarrassing moments for those who uttered them, as they tend to reflect a complete lack of awareness of Palin’s accomplishments, writings, and outspoken stand on policy initiatives.

Since September 2010 alone, Sarah Palin has penned commentary on such topics as the unrest in Libya, the protests in Wisconsin, Obama’s 2012 budget proposal and State of the Union address, getting tough with Iran and standing with Iranians who seek democracy, challenging the specifics of President Obama’s energy policy, the omnibus spending bill, defeating the New START, opposition to state bailouts, tax policy, a message to Republican freshmen in Congress, opposition to quantitative easing, and more.  She has repeatedly been a leading voice—via television appearances and speaking engagements—against the dangers of ObamaCare and the risks of President Obama’s approach to energy.  During the 2010 election season, SarahPAC endorsed 81 candidates across the country.  Let’s take a look at a few samples of Palin’s written commentary:

On Obama’s 2012 budget proposal:  “The fine print reveals a White House proposal to increase taxes by at least $1.5 trillion over the next decade.  If you want to know how minuscule their proposed $775 million-a-year budget ‘cuts’ really are, please look at this chart.  The proposed cuts are so insignificant—less than 1/10 of 1% of this year’s $1.65 trillion budget deficit—that they are essentially invisible on the pie chart.  That speaks volumes about today’s budget.”

On Iran:  “Much more can be done, such as banning insurance for shipments to Iran, banning all military sales to Iran, ending all trade credits, banning all financial dealings with Iranian banks, limiting Iran’s access to international capital markets and banking services, closing airspace and waters to Iran’s national air and shipping lines, and, especially, ending Iran’s ability to import refined petroleum.  These would be truly ‘crippling’ sanctions.”

On energy:  “Right now Beltway politicos are quibbling over cutting $61 billion from our dangerously bloated $3.7 trillion budget.  Allowing drilling in the Chukchi and Beaufort seas will enrich federal coffers by $167 billion without raising our taxes.  If we let Harry Reid keep his ‘cowboy poetry,’ would the White House consider letting us drill?”

On quantitative easing:  “If the President was serious about getting the economy moving again, he’d stop supporting the Fed’s dangerous experiments with our currency and focus instead on what actually works: reducing government spending and boosting business investment through good old-fashioned supply-side reforms (cutting taxes and reducing overly burdensome regulations).  Simply running the printing presses in order to avoid paying off your debts is no way for a great nation to behave.”

My question to the critics:  How is that commentary lacking in intellect?  How do you find her active leadership role in these important debates to be unpresidential?"

Last night I posted an exchange between anotherJoe at HA and dukecitygirl with regards to Mitt Romney. Here are the various aspects it covered:

    1) Like an earnest suitor whose persistence was beginning to win the girl over, conservatives were before Chick-Fil-A beginning to "warm up" to Mitt Romney.

    2) The realization that we may be back to square one, the earnest suitor disappointing us with how he has recently acted. And that could include dumping the suitor.

    3) Conservatives must now ask themselves if they want to marry Mitt Romney, even if it is only a marriage of convenience, realizing they might not have the requisite "minimal enthusiasm" necessary to make it work. In the words of AnotherJoe: "If conservatives can’t muster minimal enthusiasm, the election is almost certainly lost regardless of other factors."

    4) Chick-Fil-a could become a watershed issue in the minds of conservatives that Romney and his team are too blind to realize. In other words they may have missed a golden opportunity here to win the election if "Mitt does not walk it back."

    5) For a majority of conservatives in the words of dukecitygirl, "I…will vote for him because he’s all we’ve got."

    6) Would you you even consider going to bed with someone who you believe displayed cowardice, superficiality and did not understand the "real issue at stake" and besides that have NO enthusiasm for him? Those are the words of dukecitygirl who describes herself as very conservative. Is that how our side’s presidential campaign wants to enter general election campaign?

    7) dukecitygirl claims she was going to send money to Romney and volunteer for his campaign. Now her plans are at least on hold temporarily if not for good.

    8) From dukecitygirl: "My estimation of the man has dropped considerably."

Translation: I don’t like him as much. And doesn’t Romney have a likability problem already? And folks the last time I checked very few (public) pricks are ever elected President unless both are perceived to be pricks?

Now Palinistas, objectively can you really see Mitt Romney winning the election in this environment?

    • BrianusBerkleianus

      Thanks, techno.

The Parallels of Sarah Palin and Sarah Steelman

Let’s stay focused and help Sarah Steelman win her primary.

There are many things I fear about Mitt Romney but what I most fear is the Michael Dukakis scenario in 1988 where his candidacy basically imploded over his answer to a loaded debate question.

In case you have forgotten or not aware here was the tenor of the question posed to Dukakis, the Democratic nominee for president: if your wife was raped and murdered would you then favor the death penalty? Instead of focusing on the point about his wife being raped and murdered, Dukakis focused like a laser in defending his position on capital punishment in a very clinical manner, devoid of emotion entirely oblivious to how cold and shallow he appeared on stage.

According to reports, when backstage with his campaign manager Susan Estrich, he admitted that he did not realize what was the INTENT of that question.

In this spirit, this is the same bonehead move I fully expect Mitt Romney to make during one of the debates.A question will be asked and he will be entirely clued out that he is imploding big time.

By the way Dukakis’ poll numbers went from 49% to 42% nationally that night and helped Bush 41 to win the presidency.

I remember that Dukakis moment very well.

      Thanks, techno!

This reminds me that the press has tried hard and successfully bury the fact that Sarah Palin’s answer to a question by Gwen Ifill about the TARP bailout got the most passionate response ever recorded by Frank Luntz.

The question was a simple policy "Gotcha" question, as I recall.  And her answer resonated with everyone.

Of course, the geniuses running the campaign threw in the towel in Michigan the next morning.

As for Romney, I firmly believe that he has Dukakis / Kerry / Gore written all over him.  An arrogant, basically unlikable figure who is operating on the assumption that you will vote for him because you are awed by his alleged mastery and command of economic issues.

But history shows me that the most likable candidate almost always wins.  Although I don’t like Obama in the least, apparently there are enough that do like him.

Great; thanks so much for reminding us about this moment from Sarah’s debate!!

I think I shall watch it again soon … it has been a few months :-) since I have seen it, and you have inspired me to view it again.

How I love those two evenings from ’08: 3 September, RNC speech, and 2 October, debate vs. biden.

          God bless!!

Mason – Dixon conducted a poll before Steelman went up with the Palin TV ad and the BBQ Rally

+/- 5%  margin of error. Bruner had a 6% lead. The undecided was at 19%.

Folks, just to reiterate, let’s do what we can to help put Steelman over the top.

wow….that’s pretty high for undecideds.  Good or bad for Steelman? Gov. Palin’s support will undoubtedly sway many over to Steelman.

The huge +/- 5% MOE is indicative of a less than accurate poll – i.e. meaningless.
Even Pew has devolved into fantasy polling with a D+19 – use caution with polls these daze.

thank you for the BBQ video.

      My pleasure.
