The polls are shaken up out there. But the Steelman surge is continuing as Missourians and local members of government learn further about her record of reform.
In the last few days, Steelman has secured an endorsement from an original Brunner supporter as well as a handful of decent endorsements from Missouri’s local elected officials:
From the Steelman campaign:
Sarah Steelman’s U.S. Senate campaign picked up an additional important endorsement today from state Representative Gary L. Cross (R-48). Cross, whose district includes parts of Kansas City and Lee’s Summit. Cross had previously supported candidate John Brunner.
“Few elections have presented Missourians with as great an opportunity to change Washington and this one; we need to send the right person. And while up until just recently I was supporting John Brunner, I’ve been reminded of what a critical role Sarah Steelman played in writing our state marriage amendment and in protecting Second Amendment rights,” said Cross, “Missourians can’t afford to send a novice; we must send a strong leader to represent us, and Sarah Steelman has a record that demonstrates she will be fearless in leading the charge.”
Steelman expressed gratitude for Cross’s endorsement, saying, “I know that it can be difficult to keep and open mind amidst a political campaign. But Representative Cross has shown that he can continue to take in new information. As vice chairman of the tax reform committee, Rep. Cross understands how government often fails to operate efficiently. I and honored that he identifies in me the ability to go to Washington and fight not only to protect our freedom of religion, but our Second Amendment rights as well.”
Further…
Rolla, MO — Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott and Greene County Auditor Cindy Stein have both announced their endorsement of US Senate candidate Sarah Steelman.
Arnott, who has been sheriff since 2008, said that he wants to make sure that Missouri sends to Washington someone who has been tested and come through. “In law enforcement, there is rarely an opportunity for a do-over. You’ve got to get it right the first time. I support Sarah Steelman because I know that whoever we send to Washington will be there for six years, and Steelman has demonstrated that she is a fighter and tough enough to stand up for what we in Greene County and Missouri know to be right.”
Stein said she was impressed by Steelman’s tenure as state Treasurer. “I appreciate the fortitude it takes to stand up to those around you on financial matters. As our Treasurer, Steelman preserved Missouri’s rare AAA bond rating used protected Missouri tax dollars. That is impressive, and it’s why I think Steelman should be our next US senator.”
Steelman, who was in Springfield Saturday for the TARGET BBQ, was pleased to accept both endorsements, stating, “Jim and Cindy are great public servants and they know what it takes to serve the people of Greene County as efficiently and effectively as possible. I appreciate that they see in me the strength and experience to bring some of that Show-Me State common sense to Washington to balance the budget, cap spending and protect people’s life and liberty.”
Steelman is coming off a visit by Gov. Sarah Palin in which Palin highlighted these and other reasons for her support for Steelman. They are contained in Steelman’s “Contract with Missouri,” (available here: http://www.sarahsteelman.com/pages/sarahs-contract-with-missouri) in which she details the legislation she will sponsor or cosponsor in her first 60 days in office.
Ms. Steelman is a former State Treasurer and State Senator, a strong supporter of limited government, individual responsibility, and sound fiscal policy. She is also a staunch advocate of life, the Second Amendment, repealing Obamacare and strengthening our military. Steelman has been endorsed by over 50 conservative Missouri State Representatives, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK), U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), the Susan B. Anthony List, the Tea Party Express, Missouri Right to Life, National Right to Life, View Pac, ShePAC and Maggie’s List.
And….
Springfield, MO – Springfield City Councilwoman Jan Fisk has joined several other area leaders in endorsing the campaign of US Senate candidate Sarah Steelman. In a statement, Fisk said, “Sarah Steelman has a plan. Just last week she issued a written contract to Missouri voters that outlines her commitment to get our country back on track. She sees what is wrong with Washington and she knows what needs to be done to fix it. Sarah’s chief concern is the out of control spending of those in Washington. She wants to balance the budget through an amendment to the Constitution and she wants to restore fiscal discipline.”
Finally…
Springfield, MO – State Rep Rick Brattin (R-55) of Harrisonville, Raymore and Lake Winnebago, MO has endorsed the campaign of US Senate candidate Sarah Steelman. In a statement, Brattin said, “Sarah is a proven leader who isn’t afraid to take on the establishment. Her record of finding innovative solutions to problems and following through until the job is done is exactly what is needed in Washington D.C. I attended Sarah Palin’s Steelman Surge rally on Friday and I see the same tenacity in Sarah Steelman as I do in Palin. I urge all of my friends, family, colleagues, and constituents to join me in voting for the next U.S. Senator from the State of Missouri, Sarah Steelman.”
Rep. Brattin is the latest in Cass County officials who have endorsed Steelman, including Reps. Molendorp and Largent and veteran law enforcement officer Dwight Diehl.
Wow…and yet another….
Springfield, MO - Dawson, a Republican from Greene County, said that Missourians need a representative who they can trust in Washington to do the important work ahead. “Sarah Steelman has a history of doing what she says she’ll do, something that I know is important to Greene County voters. We’ve had enough of candidates who tells us what we want to hear and then get elected and quickly forget their commitments.”
Steelman, who is traveling to southwest Missouri on Monday, was pleased by the support, stating, “Cheryl understands Greene County voters and what they want from their elected officials. I am grateful that she recognizes in me the strength and tenacity necessary to fight the establishment on behalf of Missouri voters.”
Steelman has racked in a great amount of endorsements today from Missouri’s local public servants. This should say an awful lot about the energy a lot of them are feeling on the ground there today.
Being the outsider in this race, Steelman is clearly giving Todd Akin (a 12-year politician in Washington from St. Louis) as well as John Brunner (who has outspent her by a massive margin) a challenge they’re sure to never forget.
These endorsements continue to fly in at the local level as all three campaigns ramp up their final full days of campaigning efforts before tomorrow’s election.
More obvious influence from Governor Palin which is much needed in this very exciting race for U.S. Senate in Missouri.
