Romney: Obama ‘exudes an air of likability and friendliness, which is endearing’

Posted without comment, via the Washington Post (emphasis added):

NEW YORK — Likability. It’s been Mitt Romney’s Achilles’ heel for years. U.S. voters, polling shows again and again, just don’t like him all that much. And, the same polls show, they like President Obama a good deal better.

Now, with Obama apparently opening a lead over Romney as the presidential campaign enters its final phase, Romney is trying to diminish one of the president’s greatest attributes.

“The president exudes an air of likability and friendliness, which is endearing,” Romney told ABC News. “But at the same time, I think people recognize that he has not done the job they expected him to do and that he promised he would do.”

In an interview that aired Friday on “Good Morning America,” anchor George Stephanopoulos presented Romney with a specific finding from this week’s Washington Post-ABC News poll. When voters were asked “Who would you rather have dinner with,” Obama led Romney by 19 percentage points.

I can think of MANY adjectives for Obama….and "endearing" certainly isn’t one of them.

       Most aren’t printable.

We hate it when you say this crap,Mr Romney.  We’ll like you so much after you’re in office  for.  6 months and we can all see that things on all levels are clearly improving .We crave a strong, wise leader not a fun dinner companion. When have you ever heard anyone say "Obama is so much fun to be around he’s got so much personal charm in a one on one situation"  He’s an odd duck introvert.

  • travelingon

    Say what ?

  • alanwillingham

And Mitt Romney is exuding an air of Man-Pleasing Flip Floppery and Repugnant Cluelessness with such inane remarks. Who in the whole United States doesn’t know George Stephanopoulos is a shameless sell-out shill for the Democrats? He is still gnawing ankles and gnashing about to excuse the original "War-on-Women" president, Bill Clinton. When Obama speaks, almost without exception, he is threatening America and American values of Integrity, Ethics, Freedom, Life, Independence, and Self-Reliance. How in any sense of the word is that "endearing" even in an Alternate Universe?

GOPe – I hope that u r happy with your RINO

    • PANTTERA

Thank Sarah not GOP. We got mitt because she wasn’t willing to "game on".

      • socon

We got Mitt because the GOP is thoroughly corrupt.   It’s cowardly to ask her to do what you’re not willing to do.

      • DocBarry1

The GOPe would have done everything, which I believe thatch they did behind the scenes to prevent her from being the nominee
She will not run as a Republican – she can’t trust them – the only way that she ever runs, in my opinion, is if she believes a 3rd Party is possible

Life is a song – sing it.
Life is a game – play it.
Life is a challenge – meet it.
Life is a dream – realize it.
Life is a sacrifice – offer it.
Life is love – enjoy it.

Sounds suspiciously like you are blaming Sarah for Mitt getting the nomination.  Are you?

  • GetWhatYouPayFor

I give up. Just can’t take it anymore. Obama needs to cancel the elections. Would be the best thing he ever did. Let us start over!

  • Nancy6

He’s as clueless as McCain, maybe even more so, after observing Obama’s dictatorial personality for 4 years.
    WTH?

  • Quiet_Righty

Deep down, Romney wants to lose. That is my diagnosis.

He takes his advice from people who see themselves as liberal and who view conservatives with disdain.  Nearly all political advisers of both parties are of the same cloth.  With a weak Captain at the helm and advisers like these, the ship is going to steer to the left.

Meanwhile, Gov. Palin, who steers her own course, is demonstrating the right path.  Informed leadership.  Whoever wins in November, neither person will have it.  Gov. Palin will be in excellent position as we go forward.  You can’t go wrong by being honest with the people and by proposing solutions that would actually achieve the desired results.

  • RedDaveR

WTF??  This reminds me of when McCain told that voter that she had nothing to fear from Obama.

Earth to Romney: That game plan doesn’t work.

  • CBDenver

To be fair, I believe people answered that they would rather have dinner with Obama because Mormons are known to be teetotalers and so folks wouldn’t get any wine or beer at a Romney dinner party.

  • Shane Ladd

They say Ted Bundy was a disarming fellow, and we all remember Hermann Goering as a jovial guy who had a funny store of one-liners. Bet Romney would have felt their charm, too.

    • HuntingMoose

      =======================================

i think you absolutely hit the nail on the head:

Goering was a nice guy to have dinner with too –as long you were not Jewish.

We all should ask the media why any value to this nice guy to have dinner with is given. And don’t forget to ask about the coincidence of Obama not wanting to have dinner with the prime minister of Israel either.

Your heading to the thread is exactly what the left did to Sarah.
Half the story to get kneejerk comments from those who did not bother to get the whole story

    The full quote is"

"The president exudes an air of likability and friendliness, which is endearing,” Romney told ABC News. “But at the same time, I think people recognize that he has not done the job they expected him to do and that he promised he would do"

    • DougBrady

I posted all of that. You did read the post, right? You point is … what, exactly? You think Romney’s statement is somehow more helpful in full context? Why? Explain how telling voters that “the president exudes an air of likability and friendliness, which is endearing” will help the Mittster beat Obama. I’m all ears.

      • $8196935

Yes, in the middle of the post which I saw, the base of  this is larger and in Bold letters,
the heading which some only see .

        • Right_Wingnut

          Stop whining.

    • Nancy6

Yankee, I’m sorry, I don’t see where there is any problem with the headline?
Romney, in the first part of the statement, is totally off base in his observation and the second part is true. Hopefully, the majority of the people who voted for him will at least realize their mistake, and vote Obama out.
The way he has gone about his job, is just as deplorable as how he is doing in his job.
After watching Obama the past 4 years, for people who support Governor Palin and how she gets Obama, it is frustrating that Romney doesn’t get who Obama is.

      • Right_Wingnut

        Don’t apologize.

    • Right_Wingnut

      Aw, shut up.

    • bucky321

mittens is really taking it to obama   /s

There’s NOTHING ENDEARING about Obama!  The guy’s a snake.

Only an imbecile would say so.

      • Guest

        You got that right!!…Romney sucks.

        Bottoms up!..lol

        • socon

I could empty a bottle of Moet tonight!  What a mess!!

  • sodakhic

Who the heck is advising this guy?

    • TeflonWarrior

I heard Steve Schmidt may have a new gig!

      • mark1955

That’s not to far of the mark. While it might not be Bushie Steve Schmidt’s advising,it is still the Bush crime family that is running MITTEN’S show. Matt Rhoades,John Sununu,Ginsburg, Dan Senor. All Rabid Bushbot’s and they are deliberately running MITTEN’s campaign into the ground,so no one get’s in  Jebbies way. They are working off of the exact same playbook as Schmidt’s and Nicolle Wallace used in 2008,to sink the McCain/Palin campaign from the inside.

      bob dole and mccain

  • colint

Romney could have said that like a con man Obama exudes of likeabilty and friendliness but has shown that he cannot be trusted. There are obvious flaws in Obama’s character.

      You and me both. Several.

    • socon

Me too and I don’t drink!

  • Journeymen

Romney also said “So I can’t tell people who would have more fun at whose table,” Romney continued. “But I can tell you the president’s a person that a lot of people like. I don’t dislike him myself and wish him the very best"

    • GetWhatYouPayFor

Yup, He’s Karl Rove’s boy. The safe bet. The only guy who can beat Obama. The next tough leader that the free world craves for. Karl is in favor of a World that is no longer free. It couldn’t be more obvious. He is on the George Soros payroll too. Just like FOX News.

      • mark1955

Yep. MITTEN’S was the "Safe bet" to lose to Obama so no one could get in Jebbies way. That’s why the Bush crime family stole the nomination for him. Also agree on the "He ( Rove ) is on George Soros payroll too" and "Karl is in favor of a world that is no longer free". I believe Rove/Bush,are fully onboard and behind a open borders, ‘New World Order,One World Government’, based on Fabian socialism. Which is just a fancy way of saying a marxist slave state. Anyone who saw the Great link that Firelight’s site, "Palin-for America" had not to long ago, to a site called, "Gulag Bound", Saw an eye opening view of that connection. "Gulag Bound" had a video that showed VP Dick Cheney, giving a speech to the ‘New World Order’ group, "The Council on Foreign Relations". Cheney revealed in that speech that he ran the CFR and had kept that secret from his Wyoming constituents. Then Cheney fielded a chummy and scripted question from the head Oligarch himself,David Rockefeller. It was beyond obvious that these two were more than close friends. That one little video, spoke volumes about what are really behind the seemingly inexplicable Bush policies of: Open borders, medicaid part D, Bush’s secret food stamps for mexico program, not fighting the Iraq war to win it ( Winning hearts and minds strategy ), Appointing SCOTUS Justice John Roberts, starting outreach to muslims inside of our intelligence agaencies,"Religion of Peace", banning the term "Radical islam" ,sending Condi Rice over to stop Israel from pursuing a victory in 2006 and then bringing back with her, thousands of palestinian refugee’s. The Bushies along with the dem left, are all about diluting our sovereignty, and bankrupting us,so they can turn us into a third world country, making it easier for these criminal oligarch’s to enslave the entire world, while enriching themselves.

  • lonestar

    Air of likability? Endearing?  WTF
He deserves to lose. In fact, I think he is trying to lose.  This is just making sure we help him lose.

  • Lemuel Vargas

That is why we got Bush the Jr. Many people said that he is the one they most likely would have beer with..Are the people this dumb? No wonder that the rest of the world has been losing respect for us.

And Mitt is not helping his cause. He is sounding like John McCain "Obama is a likeable person" or to that effect. Think the conspiracy theory that Mitt Romney is in this election to lose it so that the other Bush, Jeb, will have a shot at the presidency in 2016 is becoming more plausible as the election wears on.

What do the commenters here think of this?

And, Yankee4Palin, he could have just said "I think people recognize that he has not done the job they expected him to do and that he promised he would do."

That wouild have a lot more oomph that what he said, isnt it?
