WaPo | Obama raises $181 million in September, record for 2012

President Obama’s reelection campaign raised $181 million in September, far eclipsing the amounts raised in any month of 2012 and coming close to the record $193 million that he and Democrats raised four years earlier.

Republican nominee Mitt Romney has not announced a September fundraising total yet, but his campaign said it had a surge in donations this week after his well-reviewed performance at Wednesday’s first presidential debate in Denver.
