A couple days ago I mocked Obama’s hopelessly naive notion that he could jump start the economy by creating a new federal bureaucracy to be administered by a “Secretary of Business”:
…does Obama really believe that the appointment of another government bureaucrat, whether you call him a czar, a secretary, or King of the World, will do anything to stimulate private sector jobs? Does Obama think a Department of Business would be any more successful at creating jobs than, for example, Steven Chu’s Department of Energy is at creating energy? Second, and perhaps funniest of all, is his oxymoronic contention that the creation of another cabinet level department over which his new “Secretary of Business” will preside would in any way “streamline government”.
Mitt Romney’s campaign saw an opportunity and, to their credit, capitalized on it.
