Harry Belafonte: Obama should throw political opponents in jail

This happened yesterday, but it’s post-worthy nevertheless. It seems Marxist Obama supporter Harry Belafonte really has no tolerance for that messy democracy stuff, and wishes Obama could simply jail his political opposition as they do in Cuba or North Korea, presumably model forms of government for the has-been singer. Naturally the MSNBC host interviewing Belafonte, the race-baiting Al "not so" Sharpton, doesn’t disagree, via Joe Newby:

On Wednesday, singer Harry Belafonte offered some friendly advice for Barack Obama while speaking with MSNBC’s Al Sharpton. In his view, the president should rule like a third world dictator and throw the GOP in jail for opposing him.

“That there should be this lingering infestation of really corrupt people who sit trying to dismantle the wishes of the people, the mandate that has been given to Barack Obama, and I don’t know what more they want. The only thing left for Barack Obama to do is to work like a third world dictator and just put all these guys in jail,” he said.

Even worse than Belafonte’s statement is Sharpton’s reaction. At the end of the video, right after Belafonte’s advice, the MSNBC host can be heard laughing. Apparently, Sharpton thinks the suggestion to imprison Republicans is a good one.

Can you imagine the fallout if a George W. Bush supporter had suggested on Fox News that that the president jail Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi when they opposed his troop surge in 2007? One thing to note, though: If we keep traveling down Obama’s road to bankruptcy, we’ll eventually become a third world banana republic and the Harry Belafonte’s of the world may well get their wish.

    Come Harry-Man, Harry-Man, your bananas!!!

  • $7566967

Belafonte is a very racist, bitter, and evil man – with a huge chip on his shoulder.  I’ve never seen such evil rhetoric become so commonplace in this country until Obama surfaced.

  • heshtesh

If i posted what should happen to Ole Harry i’d have unwanted guest at my front door in the morning.

  • nkthgreek

    Should have stuck with singing.

  • MarkRNY

Don’t laugh at this! What seems to be coming from a one hit wonder, fringe kook today becomes mainstream Dem/Leftist doctrine tomorrow. You think O doesn’t believe the same thing as Day-O? Take your pick of Leftists. Think they don’t? Ask a Union thug what he thinks.

O and Day-O! Two hate driven head cases.

    • Laddie_Blah_Blah

Scratch many progressives and you find a tyrant hiding just below the surface.  With that guy, you don’t even have to look that closely.

      • MarkRNY

The surface has already been scratched on these people LBB. Their inner Tyrant is right out there in the open for everyone to see.

    • Leroy Whitby

The hatred is nakedly on display. That people watch the network after an open call to criminalize disagreeing with the President, and the host of the network laughing, shows that we are slipping down that slope pretty fast.

  • arcman46

What often happens in Communist countries is that those, like Harry Belafonte, are the first ones that are executed in the take over.  Marx called them "useful idiots".

  • RedDaveR

Obama wishes he could jail dissenters.  All this talk about how the left wishes we were more like China, like Immelt the other day, is no coincidence.

  • friskyness

All liberals should be thrown in jail and throw the key away…………………………

  • bedr1

Would love for them to try it and bring it on, they would get crushed. The military would turn on a dime

    • lanahi

Maybe that’s why he wants all the military overseas.  Afghanistan and Syria are a long way from the USA…they wouldn’t be able to create trouble here.

  • aafan

My god! Does he understand majority rule and minority rights. If majority can do any thing they want without going through due processes then why talk about rights of so many social, religious, migrant minorities.

Also, with respect to expenses and money, majority had chosen Republican for the House. President has been chosen to be the executor / CEO to spend the money and implement the laws which have been sanctioned / passed by the Congress. They do not understand shared rule but only one person dictator who once elected can do any thing. And they call them liberals.

Come Mister Tally Man, Tally me Bananas …

I wish entertainers (actors, actresses, singers, musicians, athletes, etc etc) would NOT speak out politically!!

They….especially the STARS….hold such a powerful sway over their fans that what they say becomes headline news, when their ART should be what makes the headlines!!

    I LOVE ART!!
Music, movies, books, paintings….all of it!!

So it hurts me when artists say things controversial, and divide people rather than make for a happy harmonious life.

    Not just Harry Belefonte!!
I LOVE his singing (and acting!!), but I totally think he’s WRONG in what he said.

Tell the truth, I’m NOT a huge fan of the NRA!!
(Though, since August 29, 2008, I’ve come to differentiate between guns for hunting and self-defense, and guns to commit murder!!)

So, with "The Ten Commandments" being my all-time favorite movie, I HATED it when "Moses" (Charleton Heston) became the NRA Chairman!!
I tried to ignore the NRA Heston while still LOVING the ACTING Heston!!

I intend to do the same with Harry Belefonte!!
To me, a Jewish-born American, there is no greater version of "Hava Nagila" than that sung many years ago by Mr Belefonte!!
    And his "Calypso" songs…..WOW!!!

So, speak if you must, Harry, Sean, Meryl, Julianne, Oliver, Michael, et al…….
but I will still enjoy and honior your ART!!!

Belafonte is a pile of human crap. Born in Harlem to a Jamaican mother, he has lived the American dream, being embraced by the public like his fellow communist Obama. Instead of being grateful, they want to destroy America.

Belafonte is so dumb he doesn’t know Obama IS about to imprison Republicans. See Thursday’s
Wall Street Journal. It reports Obama has authorized intelligence agencies to investigate any American at random without probable cause or even any suspicious behavior. Just pick anyone, and after getting all his personal info, you can share it with foreign government. This is outright dictatorship, but not a peep from our media.

  • bongobear

Jump down, turn around and go to hell, Harry!

  • bellagrazi16

Apparently, the "C" in MSNBC stands for communism. Sarah Palin was right, as always.

  • isabel matos

Maybe he and Michael Moore should bunk up in either Venezuela or Cuba and practice what they preach!  They are both hypocrites of the slimiest kind. The Liberal factory churns out quite a few of these lying, hollow souls!!

Not surprised, and yes, someone said in a previous post, who knows if this is on anyone’s mind.

Political persecution is part of the dream to transform America.. ask Valerie J.

    • Patriot41

Don’t forget Sean Penn who loves Hugo.

  • immanuelgoldstein

Harry Belafonte is what Psy is going to be like in 60 years.

  • Azarkhan

The only "lingering infestation" is tired, racist Harry Belafonte. Die soon, you old fool.

  • 1776er

If the banana man tried to tally his bananas today it would be a mighty short count.  Hey, Harry, daylight come  and you ought to go home.

  • Patriot41

By rights, if anyone should be in jail, it should be the marxists running our govt., and those who have been supporting them.  However, I would not opt for them to go to jail, as taxpayers would have to pay for their incarceration.  I would prefer to deport them all, to their beloved communist countries and let them enjoy the Utopia they believe exists under such tyranny.  Now wouldn’t that be special.

How ironic that such people, who were raised in this country and enjoyed all of it’s blessings and wealth, have now turned like mad dogs, on the hand that feeds them.
