John Hawkins: The 40 Most Obnoxious Quotes Of 2012

John Hawkins at Right Wing News has done a great job compiling some of dumbest, most obnoxious quotes from 2012. Most of the quotes are from liberals, of course, although there are a few exceptions. Todd Akin, for example, who’s in a category all his own. Here are a few examples from Hawkins’ list:

38) Seniors love getting junk mail. It’s sometimes their only way of communicating or feeling like they’re part of the real world. — Harry Reid

32) It’s very rare that I come to an event where I’m like the fifth- or sixth-most interesting person. — Barack Obama

22) It is a major crusade of mine and that is to get rid of the Star-Spangled Banner. Now I know you’re going to say I am not a true American I’m not patriotic. I don’t think patriotism has anything to do with it. The National Anthem is just absolutely monumentally un-singable. I mean there’s so much wrong with it. I don’t know where to start. It’s an abomination. First it ranges two octaves most people can only do kind of one octave. I mean when you think about it, it’s bombs bursting in air rocket’s red glare it all kinds of, you know a lot of national anthems are that way, all kinds of military jargon and the land there’s only one phrase ‘the land of the free’ which is kind of nice and ‘the home of the brave?’ I don’t know,” he said. “Are we [Americans] the only ones who are brave on the planet? I mean all the brave people live here. I mean it’s just stupid I think. I’m embarrassed, I’m embarrassed every time I hear it. — Bill Press

14) And this is where it becomes difficult to honor the Roman injunction to speak no ill of the dead. It’s difficult for me to assess Breitbart’s impact upon American media and American politics as anything other than poisonous. When one of the leading media figures of the day achieves his success by his giddy disdain for truth and fairness—when one of our leading political figures offers to his admirers a politics inflamed by rage and devoid of ideas—how to withhold a profoundly negative judgment on his life and career? — David Frum

Yes, I consider David Frum a liberal.  He’s certainly no conservative. There was plenty of material for Hawkins to choose from, and there’s no way I could have narrowed it down to a mere forty.  Pelosi, Chris Matthews, and "Joe Bidenopoulos” alone are good for a couple hundred apiece. And there has to be several dozen noteworthy stupid quotes on MSNBC every day. In any event, check out John’s top 40 quotes here.

Do you have a favorite "dumb quote" from 2012 that’s not on the list?  If so, leave it in the comments.

I don’t suppose it would be fair to post the entirety of Obama’s 2012 victory speech, so I am only posting this jewel from it:

"I want to thank my friend and partner of the last four years, America’s happy warrior, the best vice president anybody could ever hope for, Joe Biden."

My grand prize goes to the most obnoxious quote of all, the GOPe mantra uttered many a time but one final last time (one can only hope) by Mittens Q Romney in his concession speech:

"Our leaders have to reach across the aisle to do the people’s work."

Willard says it best. The liberal choice for GOP nominee.

    Hee Haw…

Re the Connecticut shooting and BHObama’s response.

    Jake Tapper to BHObama,"
This is not the first issue, the first incident of horrific gun violence of your four years … where have you been?"

BHObama, with a straight face, to Jake,
    "Here’s where I’ve been, Jake … I don’t think I’ve been on vacation."

      That one flabbergasted me……….

Don’t tell Bill Press about "To Anacreon In Heaven".

"I can see Washington from my home"

  • 01_Explorer_01

Any quote with the words "Fiscal Cliff" is obnoxious.

I agree with the selection of the #1 quote. What that idiot doesn’t seem to know is that any such Angel of the Lord would surely lop off his head. It is most ridiculous for the godless liberals to use Biblical references in their comments as if they have any clue what they are talking about. "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord".
