    Good morning all.

Excellent article about Gov.Palin’s record of accomplishments.

‘Who Is the Real Sarah Palin?’

    From the article:

    Executive Authority and Success

Palin was the first female and youngest governor to be elected in Alaska, which is tied for the second most powerful governorship in the United States, according to Thad Beyle, a political scientist at the University of North Carolina.

    Budgeting and Spending

Palin cut state spending between 2007 and 2010 by 9.5% while also reducing federal earmark requests by more than 80% during her tenure. She used her line-item veto to cut more than a quarter billion in superfluous spending in both 2007 and 2008. In 2009, she instituted a temporary hiring freeze, while at the same time reducing spending by more than 33% between FY2009 and FY2010.

In stark contrast to President Obama and other governors whose fiscal records are dogged by credit downgrades, Palin left Alaska with an improved credit rating during and following her tenure as governor.  Standard & Poor’s raised Alaska’s credit rating from AA to AA+ in April 2008. Then in 2010, both Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s upgraded Alaska to AAA for the first time in the state’s history due to policies enacted by Palin that made the state’s finances more than solvent.

Under Palin’s leadership, Alaska was 2nd in job growth, and 3rd in the change in its unemployment rate, compared to the other states. Alaska also saw a record number of oil jobs in both 2008 and 2009, while natural resource and logging jobs increased 13.7% during Palin’s tenure.

In fact, Palin’s record on jobs compared to the country as a whole was stronger than the President’s and other prominent governors’ during their respective tenures

    Business Growth

Alaska was an opportunity society under Palin. Alaska moved up from the 4th most business tax-friendly state to the 3rd most business tax-friendly state during her tenure.

Palin was a firm believer in tax cuts. In addition to lowering unemployment insurance tax rates, she cut business license fees in half, suspended the state motor fuel tax, and signed legislation, allowing Alaska-based businesses the same opportunities as out-of-state businesses. All of this was consistent with her record as Mayor of Wasilla, where she eliminated small business inventory taxes and cut property tax mill levies every year she was in office.

Energy issues are Palin’s forte, and her record proves it. In 2007, Governor Palin signed ACES—Alaska’s Clear and Equitable Share—a net tax on oil profits that was passed in a bipartisan and transparent manner. ACES replaced the corruption-tainted oil tax plan of the previous administration, which was passed in secret and ultimately lead to the federal indictment of several Alaskan state officials and oil company personnel. Furthermore, ACES provided oil companies with incentives to develop. The progressivity of the tax meant producers were protected when oil prices were low, but the interest of the resource owners—the people of Alaska—were appropriately protected as well to achieve a fair return for their resource.

Most importantly, ACES led to jobs, increased development, and a huge surplus for Alaska.

Perhaps Palin’s biggest energy achievement was spearheading the creation of the Alaska natural gas pipeline. After five decades of unsuccessful attempts by Alaskan administrations to bring a gas pipeline project into existence, Palin and her team introduced the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA) in March 2007. AGIA passed the Legislature by a vote of 57-1 in May of that year.

Unlike the behind-closed-doors cronyism of past administrations, Palin’s AGIA legislation was conducted out in the open and made use of a genuine free-market competitive bidding process. Palin’s AGIA placed not only Alaska, but also the nation, further on the path toward energy independence.

Palin played hardball with the big oil companies in her state. According to the Alaska state constitution, Alaskans are the resource owners in their state; and it was Palin’s duty as their CEO to get the best deal for Alaskans while at the same time partnering with these oil companies for the mutual benefit of all.

    Ethics Reform and Transparency

Ethics reform was the hallmark of Palin’s governorship. She was swept into office on a reform message in a state with a serious corruption problem. Alaska at the time was undergoing a federal investigation that culminated in the indictment of various corrupt lawmakers. Palin had made a name for herself as an ethics crusader when she chaired the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservative Commission and blew the whistle on fellow commissioner and state GOP head Randy Ruedrich for doing party business on state time. This resulted in Ruedrich receiving a $12,000 fine—the largest civil fine for ethics in the state’s history. Alaskans respected the fact that Palin was not afraid of taking on the establishment of her own party.

As governor, Palin fought for and signed sweeping bipartisan ethics legislation, which restricted lobbyists, improved disclosure laws, and improved executive and legislative branch ethics laws. In the face of corruption, she continued to take on her own party when it was necessary. She also increased transparency by releasing her oil tax bill to her constituents 17 days prior to the special legislative session, opening up natural gas pipeline deals to all potential parties, putting the state checkbook online, and not allowing lobbyists in her office.

Palin forward funded education to allow districts greater flexibility, supported increased vocational training and early education funding, opened up opportunity to Alaskan students to participate in regional medical schools, and increased overall funding for special needs education by 175% (before she herself became the mother of son with special needs). Believing that the best reform was close to home, Palin wisely also chose to monitor rather than participate in national standards for education.

    Health Care

Palin introduced health care transparency legislation that established an Alaska health care information office to give consumers factual information on quality and cost to help them make better-informed health care decisions. Recognizing that health care must be market-and business-driven, rather than restricted by government, Palin proposed repeal of Certificate of Need—a layer of bureaucracy that prevents medical facility development. She established the Alaska Health Strategies Planning Council, reduced Medicaid assessments by 83%, and expanded Alaska’s SeniorCare benefits program for low-income seniors.

‘Setting the Record Straight – Sarah Palin and Sex Education’

    From the article:

"NPR got it wrong back in 2008. As did the The Washington Post, MSNBC, ABC News and The Wallstreet Journal .  Unfortunately, many feminists have followed the misinformation of the mainstream media."

  • John_Frank

    Good morning.

    I stand with Sarah Palin.

      Good morning, JF!!

      I stand with Sarah Palin.

  • BrianusBerkleianus

    My Dear Friends in Sarah,

    Happy Wednesday to you all!!

Below is letter C in the "Latin Sarah" series, which I am presenting again from last spring and summer.

    God bless you all always!!

    Run, Sarah, Run!!

    DEO VOLENTE, SARAH 2016!!!

Beautiful and true and veritable mother, O Sarah of Alaska …she is a mom of moms in so many ways, so many senses … Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper, and Trig, her five wonderful kids–and she is now a grandmother too …but beyond her own family, think and reflect for a moment on where we stood on 28 August, 2008, the night of barack hussein obama’s DNC acceptance speech: There seemed to be no hope for a counterforce to the juggernaut of the Left and its "anointed" "messiah" … then, then, on the brilliant dawning of the morrow, in the town of Dayton, Ohio, a young mom stepped out of the shadows and into the Heart of America forever … ever since Sarah Palin Day, 29 August, ’08, think of the hopes, the dreams, the resolves, the courage, the joy, the light, the determination, the unquenchable martial and fighting spirit, the LOVE that she has brought forth, has engendered, has "procreated" in so many millions upon millions upon millions of hearts–young hearts, old hearts, Democrat hearts, Republican hearts, Independent hearts, Northern hearts, Southern hearts, Eastern hearts, Western hearts … AMERICAN HEARTS …then there are the delightful and pointed and neat neologisms and turns of phrase she has brought forth into the mind and vocabulary and lexicon of America, such as "refudiate" and "death panels" … then there are the new and courageous paths of political courage she has blazed and brought to birth: The fearless lady who never, ever retreats nor surrenders, but does strategically RELOAD, to fight again on another day … we are witnesses right now, perhaps, to a new way of running for the Presidency, initiated and brought forth by Sarah … but whether she becomes POTUS in 2012/2013 or later, just as George Washington of Virginia is the Father of His Country, so Sarah Palin, Mom From Alaska, will forever be the Mother of Her Country!!!!

As Governor Palin has said many times, she advocates for an “all of the above”approach to energy independence which includes solar, wind, nuclear, and clean coal in addition to the more traditional oil, gas, and coal.

She supported development of renewable energy sources, developing a plan to have 50% of Alaska’s energy to be produced from renewable sources by the year 2025.

‘Palin unveils state energy goals; 2025 GOAL: At least 50 percent of state’s power to be from alternative sources.’    (January , 2009)

"Gov. Sarah Palin has crossed swords with conservation groups over petroleum drilling, but she earned nothing but praise Friday after announcing the most ambitious renewable energy goals in the nation. At a news conference announcing her statewide energy plan, Palin called for 50 percent of Alaska’s power to be generated by renewable resources by 2025."

‘Sarah Palin’s Goal Of 50% Renewable Energy Use In Alaska Signed Into Law’ (June , 2010)

    From the article:

"One of the first things Barack Obama did, once he took office, was to announce a pretty ambitious goal of having the United States get 25 percent of it’s energy from renewable sources by the year 2025. To date, little if anything, has been done by the Obama regime to reach this goal.

On January 21, 2009 (Obama’s first full day at work) Sarah Palin, writing in the Wall Street Journal, praised this initiative strongly, while reminding Obama that conventional sources of energy will always be needed. She also announced that she was working on the goal of having Alaska get a full 50 percent of it’s energy from renewables in that same 2025 time frame."

About taxes negotiation before ‘Fiscal Cliff':

The ONLY people advocate for tax INCREASING

Easy to say but Boehner is clearly enabling them. He just wants to get drunk.

About the  frivolous anti-Palin ethics complaints

There were many "ethics" complaints filed against Gov Palin. All complaints ,but two ,dismissed as lacking any merit. The other two were settlements where Governor Palin was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Under Alaskan law these are dealt with by the Alaskan Personnel Board, which body gives a final determination.

The members of the Personnel Board were appointed by Palin’s predecessor, Frank Murkowski–no friend of Palin.

To cut a long story short Gov.Palin was exonerated from blame in all cases without exception.

The two settlements where Gov.Palin was also cleared of any wrongdoing:

    1)  Governor Palin Reimburses the State for Kids’ Travel

There was no state law against the governor’s family traveling with her, and the personnel board found no wrongdoing on the part of the Sarah Palin
Because no guidance was provided in the law, the Palin administration followed historical precedent in travel decisions for the first family.
All of her travel expenses were originally approved by the Department of Administration!

The administration had decided to have the Attorney General establish a clearer set of guidelines that established a new “state interest” test for protocol travel and based on this set of new (!) guidelines Sarah Palin agreed to reimburse the state.
Sarah Palin has been exonerated of all wrongdoing (also) in this ethics act complaint. There was no finding of wrongdoing and there was no ethics violation.
The Alaska Personnel Board found no wrongdoing, but Sarah Palin agreed to reimburse the state.

    2)  The Legal Defense Fund Case.

Associated Press: "No Wrongdoing on Palin’s Part was Found" in Legal Defense Fund Case

No wrongdoing on Palin’s part was found. Investigator Timothy Petumenos said Palin acted in good faith and relied on a team of attorneys.

The only thing the team of attorneys did wrong was use the word “official” while trying to help pay for all the legal costs involved with a merciless, politically motivated, litigious campaign from Democrat operatives against Sarah Palin.

In essence, the investigator found that because of things such as the use of the word "Official" on the fund’s website, there is probable cause to believe that the fund itself could be in violation of Alaska ethics laws. However,  Sarah palin  did not do anything wrong since she acted on good faith on the advice of a team of lawyers who told her the fund was "unassailable" and in compliance with the law when it was formed.!

Under Alaskan law Gov.Palin had to cover her own legal fees.

Answering those lawsuits took up almost 100% of her time and the time of her staff, meaning she couldn’t govern. Those lawsuits were filed  to make it impossible for her to govern and to bankrupt her .

Since then (2010) Alaskan law has been changed which now covers the governor’s legal fees for such legal proceedings. That didn’t help Gov. Palin as she still had to pay the fees she accrued during that time.
    About troopergate.

The  the Bi-partisan Alaska Personnel Board , which is the final authority(!), ruled that Gov.Palin did not commit any ethics violation

Hey Z, check out this troll, go to the comments and go down three comments and you will see that several of us here and this site has been stalked, you might be familier with him, he got banned here once upon a time…I didnt know Sarah Pac paid you…LOL

      • ZH100

The posters who are defending Gov.Palin at mediaite are doing a great job; presenting the facts in order to counter the lies , smears and misinformation about Gov.Palin.

        • blueniner

Did you read this delusional commenter comments? He is obcessed with Sarah, and this site…. Yes they are doing a good job but are outnumbered, and ganged up on over there.

          • ZH100

Most comments at mediaite , Huff, etc are the usual childish smears and lies about Gov.Palin.

But because more and more people know the truth about Gov.Palin , have knowledge of her record and have knowledge of the facts, those smears don’t work anymore because they are easily countered with the facts about Gov.Palin.

We know that many people are monitoring this blog without commenting; posting the facts about Gov.Palin on this blog will help promote Gov.Palin’s record of accomplishment and the truth about her.

            "but are outnumbered"

At sites as mediaite , Huff, we will always be in the minority.  Again the posters who are countering the lies about Gov.Palin at mediaite are doing a great job.  kudos to them and all the other defenders of Gov.Palin on other blogs who are defending Gov.Palin against the lies ,smears and distortion of the record.

        • Banda31

ZH100, I must let you know that I like what you do too. You religiously give all the pertinent info about Sarah to all who are interested, thereby setting her record straight.

            Thank you , Banda31

  • BrianusBerkleianus

BTW, guys, I was not able to be here during the day and evening yesterday, but I did take a glance at yesterday’s open thread, and I, of course, observed the activity of that troll.

Thanks for the comments that so many of you posted in REFUDIATION–though I only had time to look at a fraction of them.

My quick take on the matter:

Whenever the trolls come out, something very good and special is going on.

Was it a coincidence that the Governor gave that marvelous interview the other night on Hannity, with its IMPLIED BUT INDICTING and powerful censure, and then trolls come out?!?–

    barack obama IS A SOCIALIST;

ERGO … she left the conclusion powerfully implicit: obama’s "mission" is to "fundamentally transform" America into a Soviet "Amerika."

Something WONDERFUL is AFOOT, IMHO–hence the troll activity, the troll action, the troll reaction … the "trollaction" we might call it!!

    God bless, guys!!!

Edit: And how about "trollicking" to describe their activity … the opposite of the FROLICKING of free spirits!!

    • blueniner

Hi Brian, thats a good take regarding the troll activity. Over on Breitbart as of tonight, the post from Hannity show there that was posted this morning is over 950 comments, aside from the usual tired boring trolls there were many thoughtful pro Palin comments, and not just C4Per regulars. The sites that posted her two recent interviews were piling up the comments.

      • BrianusBerkleianus

Wonderful; thanks, Niner, for this information!

      • ZH100

The comments in support of Gov.Palin are comments that show knowledge about her record and the facts about Gov.Palin. So, it becomes less easy for the trolls at Breitbart to spout their lies and smears about Gov.Palin.

And of course mediaite is a anti-Palin meeting place. Something like the Huff.

    • ZH100

"ERGO … she left the conclusion powerfully implicit: obama’s "mission"
is to "fundamentally transform" America into a Soviet "Amerika."

Well, I don’t know if that is true.  Its your interpretation of her words.

I think it’s always wise to be cautious in interpreting other people’s words.

Anyway , I don’t think its  "obama’s "mission" is to "fundamentally transform" America into a Soviet "Amerika."‘

I think that Obama want to turn Amerika into something like a European-style entitlement society or something.

      • BrianusBerkleianus

        Thanks, ZH!!

Yes, this is just my opinion.

Still, at the very least, I suspect that there are people who plan to come in AFTER obama is finished with his job, and "complete the job."

Sarah and we have other plans!!

        God bless!!

Edit: Still, again, just my view and opinion, but I think that obama is a dedicated Marxist/Commie revolutionary–even if his "mission" is PERHAPS only the FIRST stage of the process of transformation.

Edit II: I think the line of my reasoning was this: Sarah said that obama is a socialist. Then she said that socialism leads to communism. The logical conclusion is that obama leads to communism. It is, I grant, a matter of debate whether or not that final transformation will happen, in their plans, under obama’s "watch," or later on … but the DIRECTION IS CLEAR, the ULTIMATE GOAL, to which goal and purpose obama and his thugs contribute, and contribute mightily.

        • ZH100

"I suspect that there are people who plan to come in AFTER obama is finished with his job, and "complete the job.""

Well, there will be no chance to "complete the job", because after Obama there will President Palin!

    About the "Bridge to Nowhere".

Sarah  Palin used to support the bridge. When she saw that the project was becoming astronomically expensive  she killed the bridge. In fact, the Alaska Democratic Party gave her credit for doing so.
She wisely declared  that the money be spent on more "fiscally responsible" projects.

Gov.Palin was ultimately responsible for making sure that the money acquired from Congress was not squandered on a bridge whose cost grew far higher than originally proposed and was not the only way to connect the people of Ketchikan to their airport.

By the way, notice that Gov.Palin has never denied that she changed her opinion on the bridge from her 2006 campaign.

#PalinEmails Prove that Governor Palin Opposed the Bridge to Nowhere

    From the article:

"The argument that radicals in the Democrat Party have pushed about Palin and the Bridge to Nowhere is that she only killed the project out of the political expediancy.

Well, these e-mails show that she killed the bridge for reasons other than political expediency."

What about a third party, with JC Watts as the national chairman, and Sarah Palin as the presidential candidate and Ted Cruz as her V-P running mate?

    SARAH 2016

    • freeperjim

Sorry…..but when Watts announced on Hannity’s radio program he was voting for Ozero (2008) because it was "historic", it exposed him as NOT a conservative but someone who makes decisions based on skin color.

I think there is a word for people like that…starts with the letter "R"….

      • golfmom3

I don’t think you can find a quote where Watts announces he will vote for Obama.  I think he was playing the game we saw here — why should we vote for Romney?  What has he done for conservatives lately, except stab them in the back?  And the trusty "We’ll hold his feet to the fire".  See quote from the article below:

"Is Watts serious about Obama? “Well, no, I didn’t say that,” he told Sean Hannity on his national radio show today. “What I said in the article was that I was a free agent. No one should assume that J.C. Watts should vote one way.” Watts, a former Southern Baptist associate pastor, blasted the Republican Party for taking both blacks for granted and evangelical Christians. “Pastors need to be careful in this endorsement game,” he said. He also said he was disappointed at the way the Republican Party leadership and John McCain’s campaign include not a single black American."

This was 2008 — when the meme on Obama reflected his "no red American, no blue America" shtick.  And that’s what it is — just shtick.  He has not "governed", I mean agitated, in a way that unites anyone other than in how many get food stamps.

Rove and the gang marginalized everyone who was not one of the white males in succession for the nomination.  You saw what happened to Gov. Palin when McCain stepped out and chose her over Romney.  Watts has moral standing to complain about marginalization of blacks, evangelicals, etc.  That’s how they work. It’s not pretty.

      • Right_Wingnut

I would definitely have a problem with that, if proven to be true.

However, you have no evidence to back up your claim.

In short, you either posted that without verifying it, or you flat out lied.

      • PalinIsGodsGift2USA

JC Watts is a really good man and dedicated conservative. I’m certain as a black conservative he’s taken repeated abuse and attempts at intimidation from other African-Americans.

When I was teaching, some fellow conservative co-teachers who are black likewise took untold abuse for being conservative from other African-Americans. Their spine has been strengthened by the fire. It’s not productive to try to find the speck in everyone’s eyes.

We need all hands on deck.

        • PalinIsGodsGift2USA

Delighted you did this. That’s what we need more of! We need to be eternally vigilant, dedicated and determined.

And no one said it would be easy. We need to be tough as nails and more dedicated than the socialists and communists; because I guarantee you they are dedicated, and they play the long game. There is no time for discouragement.

It bears repeating! It’s the truth – and it’s so important!

And perhaps Boehner’s hearing will improve! Lol. Actually the only thing he or Obama understand is superior force. Well, if she’s not embraced by the GOP, a third party led by Sarah should do the trick.

Hope springs eternal. Yes it does – in the person of Sarah Palin. She is an accomplished executive, who loves America, and knows how to get things done when she’s the leader in office.

Sorry for the interruption as I had some pressing matters to attend to, but Mr. Lewis and I are back with today’s reading from “The Abolition of Man”:

“ I have described as a ‘magician’s bargain’ that process whereby man surrenders object after object, and finally himself, to Nature in return for power. And I meant what I said. The fact that the scientist has succeeded where the magician failed has put such a wide contrast between them in popular thought that the real story of the birth of Science is misunderstood. You will even find people who write about the sixteenth century as if Magic were a medieval survival and Science the new thing that came in to sweep it away. Those who have studied the period know better. There was very little magic in the Middle Ages: the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries are the high noon of magic. The serious magical endeavor and the serious scientific endeavor are twins: one was sickly and died, the other strong and throve. But they were twins. They were born of the same impulse. I allow that some (certainly not all) of the early scientists were actuated by a pure love of
knowledge. But if we consider the temper of that age as a whole we can discern the impulse of which I speak.

“There is something which unites magic and allied science while separating both from the ‘wisdom’ of earlier ages. For the wise men of old the cardinal problem had been how to conform the soul to reality, and the solution had been knowledge, self-discipline, and virtue. For magic and applied science alike the problem is how to subdue reality to the wishes of men: the solution is a technique; and both, in the practice of this technique, are ready to do thing hitherto regarded as disgusting and impious – such as digging up and mutilating the dead.”

I think it would be easy to miss the point of this reading as I had to read it a few times to connect the dots. The first sentence talks about the “magician’s bargain” as a search for power but surrendering all to Nature. The last sentence of the first paragraph touches base with this again suggesting that while some scientists in the 16th and 17th centuries were motivated by a “pure love of knowledge”, most were motivated by a search for power. The use of this power is described
in the second paragraph as the scientists desire and attempts to “subdue reality to the wishes of men” and is held in contrast to the “wise men” who understood the solution to be to “conform
the soul to reality”. This is very significant as it has direct application to today’s circumstances.

This attitude that through Science, we can change and mold Nature to what we think best lies at the foundation of our times and the power of those who want to eliminate all consideration of God in each and every aspect of our existence. In this sense, Science has taken the place of God as it is being applied even as the theoretical scientists on the cutting edge but up against God on a regular basis. This attitude is the basis for the whole Global Warming “Crisis” holding form to the belief that Man can bend Nature’s will to our own, all the time failing to recognize any limitations or the past history of this planet in its temperature fluctuations. This is the source of the power Science has always sought – “recognizing” the existence of a “crisis” that urgently needs to be addressed through the application of our scarce resources AND the Governmental regulation of our activities and behavior. In the 70’s, it was the threat of Global Cooling and the coming ice age only to be replaced by it opposite, all the while being trumpeted by Governments all over the world as a basis and justification for their greater control of their populations. This desire for power and control has grown so that Science as applied in its use of “crises” has now become, in essence, a religion in its own right as it assumes “by faith” that it has the answers while disregarding contrary facts and attacking all those who challenge their “wisdom” as “flat earth” types not worthy of any
consideration or credibility. As we have seen, the viciousness of those attacks betrays the truth that something other than a “search for knowledge” is at its heart. All the while, God sees all this
and just shakes His head at the rank foolishness and laughs at the hubris of Man’s designs that ignore Him.

Thank you so much, Jerseymark, for these profound thoughts.

    Sliming Palin

    From the article:

"We’ve been flooded for the past few days with queries about dubious Internet postings and mass e-mail messages making claims about McCain’s running mate, Gov. Palin. We find that many are completely false, or misleading.

Palin did not cut funding for special needs education in Alaska by 62 percent. She didn’t cut it at all. In fact, she increased funding and signed a bill that will triple per-pupil funding over three years for special needs students with high-cost requirements.

She did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla library. Some of the books on a widely circulated list were not even in print at the time. The librarian has said Palin asked a "What if?" question, but the librarian continued in her job through most of Palin’s first term.

She was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a group that wants Alaskans to vote on whether they wish to secede from the United States. She’s been registered as a Republican since May 1982.
Palin never endorsed or supported Pat Buchanan for president. She once wore a Buchanan button as a "courtesy" when he visited Wasilla, but shortly afterward she was appointed to co-chair of the campaign of Steve Forbes in the state.
Palin has not pushed for teaching creationism in Alaska’s schools. She has said that students should be allowed to "debate both sides" of the evolution question, but she also said creationism "doesn’t have to be part of the curriculum."

Guys, I am reading right now William Manchester’s massive biography of General Douglas MacArthur, "American Caesar."

Here is a fascinating observation made about the future general by one of his classmates at West Point:

"To know MacArthur is to love him or to hate him–you can’t just like him." (op. cit., p. 64).

I think we could well say the same about our Sarah.

She has been vehemently loved or hated from the very beginning, in August/September of 2008!!

True, but the Bushies turned this attribute into a hammer to beat her into submission. the word they use is "polarizing"…

P.S. In other words, the content of what she says is irrelevant.

Most officers who served under him hated him. He referred to Eisenhower as his file clerk when Eisenhower served as his aide in the Philippines. Any preparations done in the Philippines to prepare for the coming Japanese invasion was carried out by Eisenhower.

MacArthur left all of the brand new bombers and other aircraft lined up on the runways six hours after Pearl Harbor. Instead of immediately launching them to attack the Japanese airbases that were in range, they were destroyed by Japanese bombers.

While the soldiers and airmen trapped on the Bataan Peninsula fought bravely for 4 mos. holding off the battle hardened Japanese, MacArthur stayed in relative comfort and safety on the island of Corrigidor in Manila Bay surrounded by 4000 Marines using the terms I, me and my in cables to Washington describing how heroic he and his men were resisting the Japanese.

Read "Tears in the Darkness" and you will have an idea how deeply MacArthur let the people in his charge down.

And for this he was given a Medal of Honor. It was about as earned as Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize.

On a lighter note, there are only two father and son Medal of Honor awardees in the history of the Medal.

      TR and TR Jr.
TR was awarded it in 1998, 100 years after the fact after several contemporary Congresses denied it.
TR Jr. was awarded it after dying of a heart attack 1 mo. after the D-Day invasion.

The other father/son awardees were Arthur and Douglass MacArthur. The father earned his in the Civil War and you know my feelings about Douglass.

Armstrong Custer’s brother Thomas was awarded two for his actions in the Civil War and died with Armstrong and his other brother Boston at Little Big Horn.

Brianus, please excuse the rant below. Whenever I see the name Teddy Roosevelt or Douglass MacArthur my blood pressure rises and I see red.

      Good luck with your reading.

The GOP is punishing success and rewarding failure, that’s what’s going on this morning.

Just another day in the Beltway…

    • HuntingMoose

In a nutshell, it explains why those 70+ freshman of the 2010 class should leave the GOP and start a 3rd.

Everyone makes the mistake that that would split the vote but it does not. During elections two parties can put forward the same candidate as well. The socialist party and democrat party have done that in 2008 and 2012 , so can we.

And remember the bonus, boehner works well with other parties to accomodate them. Also the speaker is voted for by the majority of votes, not by the largest minority party.

  • Pete Petretich

If the Tea Party is being punished by party leadership does that mean that Chrispy Creme will be punished for his bi-partisan photo opportunity with Obama the week before the election?

    • BrianusBerkleianus

      Great rhetorical question, Pete!!

    • jester2939

Hells no!!! The GOPe like that kind of stuff. Remember Jebbie and his daddy had a private meeting with Obama at the White House – this seems to be a resume enhancer for the GOP since they are pushing so hard for him in 2016. And, of course, Boehner went golfing with Obama, so HE didn’t have a problem hanging out with tObama. Heck, Boehner treats Obama better than he treats members of his own party!

Big Brother is spying on everyone.

A whistleblower from the NSA is claiming that the Gov’t is keeping EVERYONE’S E-MAILS stored in computers (they are building a new 2 billion $ facility to store the info in.)

If you are targeted, for any reason by the Government, they will pull out your "file" and read all of your e-mails.

    • Pete Petretich

Why would anyone doubt this? And don’t forget, political hack Tom Donilon has been in charge os NSA for several years.

I believe that Donilon engineered the Benghazi and Petraeous cover-ups and pushed the revelations past Election Day. This was critical timing…
