As was expected, President Obama used the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut to pay back anti-second-amendment lobbyists and activists today by signing 23 executive orders to curtail the second amendment.
This involves creating new positions which means we have to spend more money. In addition, the president also supports a ban on assault weapons and mandatory background checks on all gun sales.
The Chicago Tribune calls it the "biggest U.S. gun-control push in decades."
Of course, the President showcased children today as reason enough to stomp all over the second amendment with passive aggressive arrogance. Further, the Associated Press has rushed in to aid this shameless display of using a tragedy for political gain by releasing letters written to the president by children.
One letter in particular came from a young girl named Julia. As the article explains:
Julia, who lives in the District of Columbia and dotted the "I" in her name with a heart, wrote that she has four brothers and sisters and "I know I would not be able to bear the thought of losing any of them." She closed her letter by acknowledging that Obama can’t make all the changes people want by on his own.
"I know that laws have to be passed by Congress but I beg you to try very hard to make guns not allowed. Not just for me, but for the whole United States," Julia wrote, signing the letter with "my love and regrets."
From the stage, Obama responded: "Julia, I will try very hard."
Let’s be clear. Everyone in America understands that Julia wants a safe country. That’s what we all want. But the current culture of corruption in Washington D.C. which remains controlled by special-interest groups like the anti-gun folks is responsible for the backdrop which would lead Julia to believe that guns are the problem. What Julia probably doesn’t realize is that assault weapons bans have already been put in place in the city of Chicago. Further, the same ban exists in Connecticut where the shooting occurred.
None of this blatant attempt to reward anti-gun groups while becoming a thorn in the side to decent taxpayers and law-abiding citizens will reduce the violence since the same policies already exist where these tragedies have taken place as well as cities like Chicago where gun violence and deaths continue to rise year after year.
They’re called "children" for a reason.
The same child could just as easily ask their parents for a large allowance every week and expect it without earning it. This is why they’re called "children" and why adults are needed to explain reason. They simply don’t understand that taking extreme measures which blatantly seek to undermine our Constitution only makes matters more complex and only accentuates the problems they they think they are trying to correct.
Today, instead of being the nation’s adult, the President along with his allies exercised the same crass judgment we’d expect out of children. They only care about their agendas and to hell with liberty, fairness, and the U.S. Constitution.
