Tom Brokaw: Failure to support Obama’s gun control program means you’re like Bull Conner or something

Via Newsbusters, this is nuts. Admittedly, Tom Brokaw’s sermon on today’s edition of Morning Joe is a little hard to follow, but there’s no doubt that he’s equating those of us who don’t want to see our Second Amendment rights trampled on by Obama and his cronies with Bull Conner, the Ku Klux Klan, and "redneck elements of the South" :

BROKAW: And all these component parts claim it’s not their responsibility. NRA says it’s not about the guns. It’s about violence. It’s about mental health. Mental health people say we can’t share information because we have privacy issues here. The video game industry says we have a right under the First Amendment. Reverend Al, it reminds me a lot of what happened in the South in the 1960s during the civil rights movement. Good people stayed in their houses and didn’t speak up when there was carnage in the streets and the total violation of a fundamental rights of African-Americans as they marched in Selma, and they let Bull Connor and the redneck elements of the South and the Klan take over their culture in effect and become of face of it. And now a lot of people who I know who grew up during that time have deep regrets about not speaking out. There were a few brave souls who did and they were knocked down pretty hard within their own communities for coming out and speaking out in a moderate way, not even in a liberal way about the right of African-Americans to be able to vote, for example, and to walk into any restaurant they wanted to. But there was a lot of silence at the time. Now it’s time for the people who do have strong feelings, who are feeling that they can’t do anything about it, to kind of band together and have something to say here. And again, it’s got to be the whole approach.

So there you have it. If you don’t jump on the Obama gun control bandwagon and join his crusade against the Second Amendment, you’re the 2013 equivalent of life-long Democrat Bull Conner. Of course race-baiting moron Al "not so" Sharpton, to whom Brokaw is directing this asinine monologue, is in complete agreement. Who’d a thunk it? With ludicrous racial pronouncements like this, Brokaw’s bucking to become MSNBC’s next Chris Matthews. Sans the drooling, of course. Click below to watch.

The media in this country is like one head with many mouths. They all say the same thing. You hear one leftist talk, you’ve heard all leftists talk. Brokaw is Broke with ideas. I used to admire and respect him. Now, it’s just Yawwwwn.

Edit added: It’s eerily quiet under this post .. must be nobody cares about what Tom Brokaw has to say. :)

Isabel, your right.   Doesn’t it seem like John Stewart and Bill Maher work for the White House?

What does it take to get rid of these liberal dinosaurs? Brokaw you’re a fossil just like Bob Schieffer. Why don’t the both of you round up the rest of the Red-Green machine and make like a tree and leave!

I’d rather be a redneck instead of a red like you! This country was built by rednecks not reds, leave!

       Right on!

Brokaw and Schieffer used to at least try to pretend that they were objective.  Now it’s come to the point where they no longer make any attempt to hide their bias.

But don’t you love Brokaw’s turtleneck?  Don’t you just know that he looks in the mirror and thinks he’s so GQ, so European looking?

Okay, the fact that he’s addressing Al Sharpton with respect invalidates anything he has to say.  Sharpton has blood on his hands.  Sharpton is a clown.

And Brokaw is just an elitist twit.  We all know the South had race problems.  We know it.  But I grew up in the South, like Nikki Haley, in a small town, with parents who spoke another language.  And I never, ever experienced any prejudice down there.  Where did I first experience any prejudice?  In the late 1980s in Boston, the great liberal Boston.

And in the last few years I’ve spent time in Massachusetts and South Carolina.  In Massachusetts I spent time in an incredibly liberal town, surrounded by liberal colleges and universities.  And a stunning lack of diversity.  So white and all liberal.  Like the Borg.  One mind that everyone was plugged into.

In South Carolina I’ve seen much more diversity.  Whites, African Americans, Indian Americans, Asians, Muslims, Hispanics, rednecks, professionals……………..and lots of interracial families.  And interestingly enough, many of these interracial couples with their biracial children were people at the middle and lower middle class level.

Brokaw obviously doesn’t know this country.  Get out of your Manhattan, DC, LA bubbles and see how much this country has changed and see that your boilerplate talking points are no longer relevant.  Open your eyes for God’s sake.

Bull Connor was a democrat just like you, Brokaw.  Old coot.

Mark Levin took on Tom Brokaw in this segment:

‘Just shut up Tommy!’ Mark Levin goes nuclear on Tom Brokaw for comparing gun control debate to Selma

Brokaw   "Now it’s time for the people who do have strong feelings, who are feeling that they can’t do anything about it, to kind of band together and have something to say here. And again, it’s got to be the whole approach."

He’s right.   Tom, tell of Obama   "Do not tread on us.".

When in doubt whip out the race card. If you don’t support Obama or his policies, you’re "racist."

Believe it or not, my own wife hit me with that one. I laughed and told her bad policies are bad policies – the skin color doesn’t matter. But, what’s scary is that some people actually believe dislike of Obama and his policies is "racist." It’s not just an Alinsky tactic. They honestly, really believe this stuff.

Tom Brokaw is a racist to want to take guns away from blacks and other minorities.

Tom Brokaw is a racist – he wants to take guns away from black, hispanics and other minorities.
    time for him to retire.

He’s also a sexist.  Brokaw doesn’t want women to be able to protect themselves and their children from sexual predators.

      Democrats’ WAR ON WOMEN!!
