    Good morning all

Excellent article about Gov.Palin’s record of accomplishments.
    —————-

‘Who Is the Real Sarah Palin?’

    From the article:

    Executive Authority and Success

Palin was the first female and youngest governor to be elected in Alaska, which is tied for the second most powerful governorship in the United States, according to Thad Beyle, a political scientist at the University of North Carolina.
    ——

    Budgeting and Spending

Palin cut state spending between 2007 and 2010 by 9.5% while also reducing federal earmark requests by more than 80% during her tenure. She used her line-item veto to cut more than a quarter billion in superfluous spending in both 2007 and 2008. In 2009, she instituted a temporary hiring freeze, while at the same time reducing spending by more than 33% between FY2009 and FY2010.

In stark contrast to President Obama and other governors whose fiscal records are dogged by credit downgrades, Palin left Alaska with an improved credit rating during and following her tenure as governor. Standard & Poor’s raised Alaska’s credit rating from AA to AA+ in April 2008. Then in 2010, both Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s upgraded Alaska to AAA for the first time in the state’s history due to policies enacted by Palin that made the state’s finances more than solvent.
    ——–

    Jobs

Under Palin’s leadership, Alaska was 2nd in job growth, and 3rd in the change in its unemployment rate, compared to the other states. Alaska also saw a record number of oil jobs in both 2008 and 2009, while natural resource and logging jobs increased 13.7% during Palin’s tenure.

In fact, Palin’s record on jobs compared to the country as a whole was stronger than the President’s and other prominent governors’ during their respective tenures
    ——-

    Business Growth

Alaska was an opportunity society under Palin. Alaska moved up from the 4th most business tax-friendly state to the 3rd most business tax-friendly state during her tenure.

Palin was a firm believer in tax cuts. In addition to lowering unemployment insurance tax rates, she cut business license fees in half, suspended the state motor fuel tax, and signed legislation, allowing Alaska-based businesses the same opportunities as out-of-state businesses. All of this was consistent with her record as Mayor of Wasilla, where she eliminated small business inventory taxes and cut property tax mill levies every year she was in office.
    ——-

    Energy

Energy issubeteutiful photoses are Palin’s forte, and her record proves it. In 2007, Governor Palin signed ACES—Alaska’s Clear and Equitable Share—a net tax on oil profits that was passed in a bipartisan and transparent manner. ACES replaced the corruption-tainted oil tax plan of the previous administration, which was passed in secret and ultimately lead to the federal indictment of several Alaskan state officials and oil company personnel. Furthermore, ACES provided oil companies with incentives to develop. The progressivity of the tax meant producers were protected when oil prices were low, but the interest of the resource owners—the people of Alaska—were appropriately protected as well to achieve a fair return for their resource.

Most importantly, ACES led to jobs, increased development, and a huge surplus for Alaska.

Perhaps Palin’s biggest energy achievement was spearheading the creation of the Alaska natural gas pipeline. After five decades of unsuccessful attempts by Alaskan administrations to bring a gas pipeline project into existence, Palin and her team introduced the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA) in March 2007. AGIA passed the Legislature by a vote of 57-1 in May of that year.

Unlike the behind-closed-doors cronyism of past administrations, Palin’s AGIA legislation was conducted out in the open and made use of a genuine free-market competitive bidding process. Palin’s AGIA placed not only Alaska, but also the nation, further on the path toward energy independence.

Palin played hardball with the big oil companies in her state. According to the Alaska state constitution, Alaskans are the resource owners in their state; and it was Palin’s duty as their CEO to get the best deal for Alaskans while at the same time partnering with these oil companies for the mutual benefit of all.
    ———-

    Ethics Reform and Transparency

Ethics reform was the hallmark of Palin’s governorship. She was swept into office on a reform message in a state with a serious corruption problem. Alaska at the time was undergoing a federal investigation that culminated in the indictment of various corrupt lawmakers. Palin had made a name for herself as an ethics crusader when she chaired the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservative Commission and blew the whistle on fellow commissioner and state GOP head Randy Ruedrich for doing party business on state time. This resulted in Ruedrich receiving a $12,000 fine—the largest civil fine for ethics in the state’s history. Alaskans respected the fact that Palin was not afraid of taking on the establishment of her own party.

As governor, Palin fought for and signed sweeping bipartisan ethics legislation, which restricted lobbyists, improved disclosure laws, and improved executive and legislative branch ethics laws. In the face of corruption, she continued to take on her own party when it was necessary. She also increased transparency by releasing her oil tax bill to her constituents 17 days prior to the special legislative session, opening up natural gas pipeline deals to all potential parties, putting the state checkbook online, and not allowing lobbyists in her office.
    ——–

    Education

Palin forward funded education to allow districts greater flexibility, supported increased vocational training and early education funding, opened up opportunity to Alaskan students to participate in regional medical schools, and increased overall funding for special needs education by 175% (before she herself became the mother of son with special needs). Believing that the best reform was close to home, Palin wisely also chose to monitor rather than participate in national standards for education.
    ——-

    Health Care

Palin introduced health care transparency legislation that established an Alaska health care information office to give consumers factual information on quality and cost to help them make better-informed health care decisions. Recognizing that health care must be market-and business driven, rather than restricted by government, Palin proposed repeal of Certificate of Need—a layer of bureaucracy that prevents medical facility development. She established the Alaska Health Strategies Planning Council, reduced Medicaid assessments by 83%, and expanded Alaska’s SeniorCare benefits program for low-income seniors.

Governor Palin is a strong supporter of the U.S. military.  She honors the troops – present and past – on special occasions, but she can’t get ‘em all.   I’ll help her with one which has recently passed.

Forty-five (45) years ago on January 30, 1968, the Tet Offensive began in Viet Nam.  I was there and fortunate to be in a safe location south of the city of Nha Trang where the first shots rang out.

To my dismay, I found no remembrance of that event in the electronic or print media.  Among the numbers of those of us who served in Viet Nam, it is my understanding only one-third are still alive.

I close with the traditional greeting, "Welcome home, Brothers!"

God Bless You and thank you for your service.

I was a child then but I will always remember that that was the day my Mom renamed him Walter Commie-Kite. And that was the day I became a conservative.

Several years ago my Mom called to tell me that Mr. Commie-Kite met his Maker. She further stated that God forgive her but she will never forgive him for what he did to those gallant young men who were called to serve. She said that she was taught to say good things about the dead. All she was capable of saying was "He’s dead, good!’

      • hrandym

I could never stand "Cryin’ Kite", as my grandfather called him.  From what you have said about your mother, I like her already.  Look at the power of the news media in making that phony some kind of (choke) ‘universal source of knowledge and honesty’.  I like the way Rush describes death as ‘assuming room temperature’.  It seems so gentle, doesn’t it?

Thank you, Frank.  I had almost forgotten myself.  Welcome home to you, as well.  Put me on the ‘still alive’ list.  Thanks again.

As you said, Sarge. Welcome Home, Brothers.

Personally, I never made it to VN, I went all around it. Phillippines, Korea, Japan etc. So, I missed all the really bad stuff. (keeping my language clean). I did see how awful our brothers were treated when they came home though, and I cried for them since they were too honorable to cry themselves while in uniform and in public. I still cry for them when I remember back to those times.

I am proud of each and every one of my brothers, Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and those that served at home in civilian capacity. Thank you one and all!

Just the opinion of a dumb ole country boy.

‘Facebook Refuses to Shut Down Vile Anti-Palin Page’

    From the article:

"In what seems like a double standard against conservatives, Facebook has not taken down a vile page depicting former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin holding a gun to her head while allowing users and "fans" to post messages on the page that wish for Palin’s death.

The social networking site has banned conservatives and conservative pages for lesser "offenses."

    • wodiej

Conservatives must continue to loudly voice opposition to this until they take it down.  I wonder if there was a similar page about obama, Gabby Giffords, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson or even the Black Panthers if they would allow it to stay up.  I doubt it.

What are we to expect?  We have some very ugly social trends and those trends are diametrically opposed to Sarah Palin and here message.  Unfortunately, that crap is very appealing to a sizable part of the social network.

On second thought, perhaps that is a good place to spread our word.  We may reach someone with a living brain.

I bet that the word has gone out all across Washington DC that all good RINO’s must be contacted at once, and told in no uncertain terms the danger of being seen anywhere near Senator Ted Cruz.

Yesterday was a frightening experience, completely unexpected to those who hadn’t been paying attention to his rise from complete electoral obscurity a year ago.

It would be a terrible thing for "Business-as-usual" if some of these reliable RINO’s were to become inspired by Senator Cruz, and actually start to discover some spine.

Ted Cruz cannot be allowed to show these RINO’s what it means to have convictions, speak clearly and decisively, and to proudly stand for the ideas that are enunciated in the US Constitution.  (If he’s so smart, how come he can’t twist the meaning of the Constitution to mean whatever we want it to mean?  Our average DC law office is loaded with interns who have been sophists since they BSed their ways through Grad School.  Isn’t Cruz smart enough to know that all that Liberty and Freedom crap is only there to be used to push a Statist agenda?)

Yessir, I believe that the attacks on Senator Cruz will intensify soon.  Stand Tall, Senator.  You were great yesterday!

Senate passed debt ceiling increase HR325 and voted NO on the Paul Adm  No M-1 Tanks only 19 R’s supports that.  Pat Toomey had a bit better luck, but still got no Dem support for—To protect Social Security benefits and military pay and require that the United States Government prioritize all obligations on the debt held by the public in the event that the debt limit is reached.  S Admt 8   ALL 45 R’s voted for it.   This puts the Dems on record that they don’t care who gets paid in the event of a shutdown.  So our job is to have the right message.

Here are the most important ideas our side must promulgate over the next 2-3 3/4 years to achieve success in the arena of ideas besides abandoning COLONIAL MENTALITY and declaring full autonomy:

    1) Only a superstar GOP conservative presidential candidate will suffice. Anybody else is already too far behind the 8 ball due to the Left controlling the media. Only a superstar will be able to overcome the propaganda and the demonization.

    2) Agreeing in some sort of public forum or convention to back one conservative and not "split" our votes again among several so-called conservatives, thereby handing the nomination to a moderate three straight political cycles.

    3) Educate conservatives how naive, dumb or stupid too many of them are when it comes to being manipulated by the Left, media and the GOP establishment.

Especially too many senior citizens who tend to vote flike sheep in the GOP primaries.

    4) "Never again" must be the theme of conservatives in reference to banning Sarah Palin and the TPM from the GOP convention or being a presence in the GOP presidential campaign.

    5) Conservatives must consistently promote the three-legged stool. A phrase so common 20 years ago you hardly hear anymore.

    6) Spotlight Calvin Coolidge. If you check it out the man on his watch ran a perfect Presidency between mid 1923–to March 4, 1929.

    7) Challenge the Left on its assertions that the Republican Party is a racist party and challenge the history of civil rights legislation and the Democrats have plenty of blame to shoulder for what happened after 1865 especially in the area of Reconstruction.

    8) The idea that a man or woman in their late 40′s or early 50′s is qualified to be the GOP presidential nominee. Lincoln was in his 52nd year when he was inaugurated in 1861.

    9) The eleventh commandment: "Thou shalt not take our guns away from us."

    10) If we are not a Judeo-Christian nation, what are we? If the Left wants America to become a secular nation, I welcome that debate. But let’s have it. It’s time we stop burying our heads in the sand on the issue and avoiding it because we are afraid of offending some group’s sensibilities and afraid of the maxim of "separation of church and state."

By the way when Jefferson wrote that phrase in a letter he was alluding to the state of religion in Europe where governement used a state religion to manipulate the people and also barred its citizens from being hired by government because they did not practice the state religion. What Jefferson was saying he did not want the American govt to go down this road and create "a most favored status" based on religion and that separation between church and state in his mind referred to government ensuring every American had the right to practice his or her religion absent of state penalty and the practice of that religion must not have any effect on how the government treats them and that government employees must be hired on MERIT and not based on which church they attended.

    • atl1rds

"3) Educate conservatives how naive, dumb or stupid too many of them are when it comes to being manipulated by the Left, media and the GOP establishment."
Not naive, dumb, or stupid———try uninformed.  WE, Conservatives, did a poor job getting our message out to everyone.

      • technopeasant

        Uninformed is simply an euphemism.

Iconoclasts like me don’t countenance "euphemisms". We have gone too far down the road to futility to not call a spade a spade.

"Stupid is as stupid does," in the words of Forrest Gump.

  • Pete Petretich

NPR recently claimed that Hilary Clinton is "bulletproof" since nothing in her recent congressional testimony has diminished her stature. This apparently gives her a unique status in the Democratic party.

Others have claimed a similar thing about Sarah Palin, i.e., that she has been so thoroughly vetted and attacked and gossiped about that she is effectively bulletproof. This apparently gives her a unique status in the Republican party.

Today it is February, 2013. What do these parallel observations tell us about the 2016 race for the Presidency?

    • suehimel

Not what one might assume from your words, Pete.  The Republicans are in the process of anointing Rubio as the 2016 nominee.  They will pull everything in their bag of tricks to keep Sarah Palin from getting the nomination.  I certainly hopes she runs and of she does I will be on the ground, probably in IA, working for her.  But 2012 made me a skeptic in terms of the Republican Party.  I would love for Sarah to be the nominee and run against Hillary.  That would be a slaughter in Sarah’s favor.  But she has to get the nomination first – and we have all seen what the Republicans are capable of in our most recent primary.

Run or not, I’m still in Sarah’s camp and I won’t vote for a RINO next time around, including establishment approved Rubio.

      • Pete Petretich

Whenever Sarah goes to the people the people lift her up. The GOPe can play games and violate their own rules and bylaws but they can’t do much without the people.

I see Sarah leading the ultimate anti-WDC army, from every direction…

    http://cnsnews.com/news/article/state-dept-publicized-names-photos-stevens-benghazi-security-detail-91112-suppressed

This is a COVERUP of massive proportions in regard to the needless
deaths of four Americans in harm’s way because of the gross negligence
of their government to protect them, and then to send them the help
needed that might have saved their lives, moreover to tell a Navy SEAL
who wanted to immediately help to STAND DOWN, who, himself, along with
another, expected help as they tried to hold off the attackers in the
face of overwhelming odds against them, and were later killed by radical
jihadists that the Imam Obama’s Arab Spring supports – help that was
but a few hours away! We’re talking TREASON here with the guilty
deserving of the maximum punishment under the law for the sake of
justice for the fallen and their families!

    http://cnsnews.com/news/article/169000-americans-drop-out-labor-force-january-unemployment-ticks

No surprise here as this was Obama’s intent in destroying the private sector to populate his all encompassing government dole of serfs dependent upon him for mercy from the get-go, e.g., see the effects of Obamacare as reported in the news today which is a microcosm of what’s happening all over an America under Obama’s tyranny.

Such are the ways of ruling politburos who live high on the hog as they enslave a populace of sheople who need to wake up to that fact before it’s too late and start resisting every draconian unconstitutional act of the Obamunists to destroy a free America fit to live in for their children, grandchildren, and future generations of Americans, NOT Communists!

    http://cnsnews.com/news/article/gallup-61-small-business-worried-over-healthcare-costs-30-not-hiring-fear-going-out

You destroy "small business", which is the engine of America’s economy, you destroy America’s economy, which is why Comrade Obama went for the jugular from the get-go in order to carry out his plan to destroy a free America from within, being weaned on a hatred of anything and everything American by his communist mentors which is well documented. Obamacare NEVER had ANYTHING to do with health care. How could it with its draconian unconstitutional regulations that MANDATE death care, upon close examination? Rather, Obamacare was THE TOOL for the Marxist Socialist envelopment of every aspect of what was formerly American life but what has morphed into a totalitarian nightmare that will destroy a free America from within if it’s NOT RESISTED TO ITS FACE by those who love America fighting those who hate it! We owe that resistance to the fallen in all of America’s wars who died to secure our unalienable God-given rights that no punk tyrant like Obama can ever take away!
