    Good morning all

Excellent article about Gov.Palin’s record of accomplishments.

‘Who Is the Real Sarah Palin?’

    From the article:

    Executive Authority and Success

Palin was the first female and youngest governor to be elected in Alaska, which is tied for the second most powerful governorship in the United States, according to Thad Beyle, a political scientist at the University of North Carolina.

    Budgeting and Spending

Palin cut state spending between 2007 and 2010 by 9.5% while also reducing federal earmark requests by more than 80% during her tenure. She used her line-item veto to cut more than a quarter billion in superfluous spending in both 2007 and 2008. In 2009, she instituted a temporary hiring freeze, while at the same time reducing spending by more than 33% between FY2009 and FY2010.

In stark contrast to President Obama and other governors whose fiscal records are dogged by credit downgrades, Palin left Alaska with an improved credit rating during and following her tenure as governor. Standard & Poor’s raised Alaska’s credit rating from AA to AA+ in April 2008. Then in 2010, both Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s upgraded Alaska to AAA for the first time in the state’s history due to policies enacted by Palin that made the state’s finances more than solvent.

Under Palin’s leadership, Alaska was 2nd in job growth, and 3rd in the change in its unemployment rate, compared to the other states. Alaska also saw a record number of oil jobs in both 2008 and 2009, while natural resource and logging jobs increased 13.7% during Palin’s tenure.

In fact, Palin’s record on jobs compared to the country as a whole was stronger than the President’s and other prominent governors’ during their respective tenures

    Business Growth

Alaska was an opportunity society under Palin. Alaska moved up from the 4th most business tax-friendly state to the 3rd most business tax-friendly state during her tenure.

Palin was a firm believer in tax cuts. In addition to lowering unemployment insurance tax rates, she cut business license fees in half, suspended the state motor fuel tax, and signed legislation, allowing Alaska-based businesses the same opportunities as out-of-state businesses. All of this was consistent with her record as Mayor of Wasilla, where she eliminated small business inventory taxes and cut property tax mill levies every year she was in office.

Energy issubeteutiful photoses are Palin’s forte, and her record proves it. In 2007, Governor Palin signed ACES—Alaska’s Clear and Equitable Share—a net tax on oil profits that was passed in a bipartisan and transparent manner. ACES replaced the corruption-tainted oil tax plan of the previous administration, which was passed in secret and ultimately lead to the federal indictment of several Alaskan state officials and oil company personnel. Furthermore, ACES provided oil companies with incentives to develop. The progressivity of the tax meant producers were protected when oil prices were low, but the interest of the resource owners—the people of Alaska—were appropriately protected as well to achieve a fair return for their resource.

Most importantly, ACES led to jobs, increased development, and a huge surplus for Alaska.

Perhaps Palin’s biggest energy achievement was spearheading the creation of the Alaska natural gas pipeline. After five decades of unsuccessful attempts by Alaskan administrations to bring a gas pipeline project into existence, Palin and her team introduced the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA) in March 2007. AGIA passed the Legislature by a vote of 57-1 in May of that year.

Unlike the behind-closed-doors cronyism of past administrations, Palin’s AGIA legislation was conducted out in the open and made use of a genuine free-market competitive bidding process. Palin’s AGIA placed not only Alaska, but also the nation, further on the path toward energy independence.

Palin played hardball with the big oil companies in her state. According to the Alaska state constitution, Alaskans are the resource owners in their state; and it was Palin’s duty as their CEO to get the best deal for Alaskans while at the same time partnering with these oil companies for the mutual benefit of all.

    Ethics Reform and Transparency

Ethics reform was the hallmark of Palin’s governorship. She was swept into office on a reform message in a state with a serious corruption problem. Alaska at the time was undergoing a federal investigation that culminated in the indictment of various corrupt lawmakers. Palin had made a name for herself as an ethics crusader when she chaired the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservative Commission and blew the whistle on fellow commissioner and state GOP head Randy Ruedrich for doing party business on state time. This resulted in Ruedrich receiving a $12,000 fine—the largest civil fine for ethics in the state’s history. Alaskans respected the fact that Palin was not afraid of taking on the establishment of her own party.

As governor, Palin fought for and signed sweeping bipartisan ethics legislation, which restricted lobbyists, improved disclosure laws, and improved executive and legislative branch ethics laws. In the face of corruption, she continued to take on her own party when it was necessary. She also increased transparency by releasing her oil tax bill to her constituents 17 days prior to the special legislative session, opening up natural gas pipeline deals to all potential parties, putting the state checkbook online, and not allowing lobbyists in her office.

Palin forward funded education to allow districts greater flexibility, supported increased vocational training and early education funding, opened up opportunity to Alaskan students to participate in regional medical schools, and increased overall funding for special needs education by 175% (before she herself became the mother of son with special needs). Believing that the best reform was close to home, Palin wisely also chose to monitor rather than participate in national standards for education.

    Health Care

Palin introduced health care transparency legislation that established an Alaska health care information office to give consumers factual information on quality and cost to help them make better-informed health care decisions. Recognizing that health care must be market-and business driven, rather than restricted by government, Palin proposed repeal of Certificate of Need—a layer of bureaucracy that prevents medical facility development. She established the Alaska Health Strategies Planning Council, reduced Medicaid assessments by 83%, and expanded Alaska’s SeniorCare benefits program for low-income seniors.

As Governor Palin has said many times, she advocates for an “all of the above”approach to energy independence which includes solar, wind, nuclear, and clean coal in addition to the more traditional oil, gas, and coal.

She supported development of renewable energy sources, developing a plan to have 50% of Alaska’s energy to be produced from renewable sources by the year 2025.

‘Palin unveils state energy goals; 2025 GOAL: At least 50 percent of state’s power to be from alternative sources.’ (January , 2009)

"Gov. Sarah Palin has crossed swords with conservation groups over petroleum drilling, but she earned nothing but praise Friday after announcing the most ambitious renewable energy goals in the nation. At a news conference announcing her statewide energy plan, Palin called for 50 percent of Alaska’s power to be generated by renewable resources by 2025."

‘Sarah Palin’s Goal Of 50% Renewable Energy Use In Alaska Signed Into Law’ (June , 2010)

    From the article:

"One of the first things Barack Obama did, once he took office, was to announce a pretty ambitious goal of having the United States get 25 percent of it’s energy from renewable sources by the year 2025. To date, little if anything, has been done by the Obama regime to reach this goal.

On January 21, 2009 (Obama’s first full day at work) Sarah Palin, writing in the Wall Street Journal, praised this initiative strongly, while reminding Obama that conventional sources of energy will always be needed. She also announced that she was working on the goal of having Alaska get a full 50 percent of it’s energy from renewables in that same 2025 time frame."

How the Palin emails backfired on the media.

‘Sarah Palin email witch hunt backfires – squeaky clean good governor!’

    From the article:

"The release of Sarah Palin’s emails backfires, as not only does she come off as squeaky clean, she looks like a very hard working governor by the looks of these communications. According to NPR, nothing of any concern was found among the thousands of Palin emails released."

‘American Way: Sarah Palin email frenzy backfires on her media antagonists’

    Form the article:

"The trove of more than 13,000 emails detailing almost every aspect of Sarah Palin’s governorship of Alaska, released late on Friday, paints a picture of her as an idealistic, conscientious, humorous and humane woman slightly bemused by the world of politics.

One can only assume that the Left-leaning editors who dispatched teams of reporters to remote Juneau, the Alaskan capital, to pore over the emails in the hope of digging up a scandal are now viewing the result as a rather poor return on their considerable investment.

If anything, Mrs Palin seems likely to emerge from the scrutiny of the 24,000 pages, contained in six boxes and weighing 275 pounds, with her reputation considerably enhanced. As a blogger at Powerline noted, the whole saga might come to be viewed as “an embarrassment for legacy media”.

‘Operation Backfire: E-Mails Prove Sarah Palin Was A Great Governor’

    From the article:

"Governor Palin conducted the business of her state in a transparent, bi-partisan, and responsible manner. She worked long, hard hours and treated everyone with respect. America is finding out that Palin is a smart, effective, fiscally responsible leader whose goal has always been to serve the people she represents.

She knows how to prioritize, delegate, and choose the most qualified and competent people to serve with her. America is learning that even in the face of death threats from crazed liberals, Gov. Palin just kept working and putting Alaska and Alaskans first."

‘The Sarah Palin email mania backfires on the media’

    From the article:

"As 13,000 emails of the former Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, were released on Friday, the Liberal main-stream media scurried down to Juneau, Alaska to collect 24,000 pages of what they thought could be a damning story.

Dozens of major news publications released the 24,000 pages online to find something to smear the possible 2012 Republican contender, but their search came out dry.

Instead, what they found was a hard-at-work governor leading the great state of Alaska.

In detail, the emails display her down-to-earth tenure as governor and the policies she put in place while serving the 49th state."

CNN finding that Palin was hard-working governor

    The real Sarah Palin  (March,2012)

Emails reveal her to be an effective hands-on leader

    From the article:

"The Sarah Palin who emerges from the email dump isn’t the partisan snowbilly of media caricature. She’s a tough-minded reformer who took on Big Oil and corrupt members of her own party and beat them."

Film shows Palin’s someone to admire

    From the article:

"And it’s exactly what most Americans expected 24,000 pages of personal and business emails to reveal about former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Obsessive news hounds scrounged through pages and pages, looking for damning information that could wipe the outspoken conservative from America’s political scene.

What they found, though not so widely publicized, was the inner workings of an efficient, informed and very involved governor that mounted an unprecedented 80 plus approval rating while in office. The people of Alaska loved her and appreciated her backbone and focus on making their state a better place."

Palin: the emails, the Paul Revere flap, and the foolish media

    From the article:

"Similarly, the mainstream media stands with egg dripping all over its face, yet again. Nothing in the emails contains the slightest hint that Palin was anything other than a hard-working Governor, a caring mother and wife, and an all-around good-natured human being…not exactly what the death squads of WaPo, the NYT, and other mainstream outlets had in mind.

This shockingly laughable scenario is in sharp contrast to the manner in which the media handled Barack Obama, whom it woefully failed to properly investigate in 2007-08. Where were all of the reporters who should have been camped outside the door of domestic terrorist William Ayers, who launched Obama’s political career from his living room?"

Rush on Palin’s emails: What a spectacular backfire!

    From the article:

"Rush started his show today noting what a spectacular backfire on the media it was that Sarah Palin withstood the media looking for dirt in every syllable of her 24,000 emails. He wonders who else could have withstood such an analysis.

Gov. Palin has been microscopically analyzed on an unprecedented level and she still comes up clean. I doubt anyone else could have withstood the intense scrutiny that she has undergone.

Politico: Emails Bolster the Message in ‘The Undefeated’  (June 11 2011)

      Form the article:

"It says something when even the Politico, not exactly known for their unbiased Palin coverage, is conceding that this surreal “colonoscopy” by the cartoonish mainstream media is backfiring.  And that’s exactly what it’s doing.  Much to the media’s chagrin, the emails show a serious and highly effective executive who was in full control of her administration. As Tim Crawford indicated yesterday, everyone should read the emails."

#School District Praised Palin for “Her Vision [and] Leadership”  (June 17 2011)

        From the article:

"If you don’t believe what we say about Governor Palin’s leadership, here’s what the center-left superintendent of the Anchorage School District said about Palin:

"Thank you so much for your vision, leadership, and support for our public schools this week. I cannot tell you how much all of us want to celebrate with you. The idea that we could actually plan ahead, really focus on student achievement, connecting with parents and families, and really digging into the serious issues of low graduation rates and high drop out rates excites me very much. We spend too much time trying to justify our collective needs, when we should be focused on teaching and learning."

Rove may have gone over the edge. The thing that made me think that is the bizarre attack from one of his main underlings, the head of Crossroads, on Brent Bozell.

Bozell has been a stalwart of the GOP, FOX, and the conservative movement . Without Bozell’s work on liberal media bias many fewer people would understand it today. His father assisted in the writing "The Conscience of a Conservative" for Barry Goldwater.I don’t know Bozell’s relationship with Palin and the Tea Party but I know he’s a conservative, old school, and deserves respect.Yet this punk that runs Crossroads for Rove called Bozell a "hater," "weird" and "sordid."

I think it’s really possible Rove and company have lost it. That is not ordinary language applied to a fellow and respected member of the same party. That’s something else and it’s not normal.

[corrected per Al B.’s comment below]

    • Terrenceor

Bozell is also related to Barry Goldwater.

      • fb274

         Also a nephew of Buckley.

    • fb274

What I see in the Rove position now is a contest with T.E.A. in conjunction with Gov. Palin.  The only new Senators to arrive in Washington DC are the ones T.E.A. and Gov. Palin endorsed and campaigned for in 2012.  NONE of those pushed by Rove’s PAC made it.  He was the one who prior to election had boasted that "Palin’s endorsement wasn’t worth SNOT".  He was visibly upset Cruz kept Dewherst out of the running.  He and the Bush family all supported Dewherst.

      • Leroy Whitby

Rove and any remaining donors to him are doubling down on a failed strategy and outdated tactics. Einstein’s definition of insanity applies. They’ve lost, big, for 6 straight years and the connection of the current losses to their prior "winning" years is clear. The big government spending and policies of the Bush/Rove GOP (in conjunction with the hard left policies of the Dems) ushered in the 2008 fiscal collapse and Obama.

Failed policy effects politics . . . of course.

In my view, Rove and the GOP establishment squandered the remaining diffused fumes of the Reagan Revolution and bought themselves a whole 6 years of governing influence with the energy that should have fueled a political realignment. They used that too brief 6 years to accomplish nothing but self-enrichment and basking their egos. Resume Republicans.

In my business, you take a hard look at your performance if you have a bad quarter. Really, a bad month is a warning signal you ignore at your own peril. 6 years of failure is unacceptable.

        • Guest

The gopE does not believe that they have a failed strategy. Their mission is to destroy the conservative movement. They don’t give a chit about being the minority party because eventually people will get sick of the democrats and vote them in. They have patience. They can wait. What they can’t afford is to allow the conservative movement to gain any strength.

In 1980 when Ronaldus Maximus got the nomination they made a vow with the left and the media to partner with them to cut the legs out from under any conservative before they can gain any traction. They thought they had finally extinguished the conservative light permanently and then suddenly conservatism reared it’s ugly stepchild head, as far as they are concerned, with the announcement of Governor Palin as McLame’s VP.

The gopE couldn’t freakin’ believe how the tiniest spark of conservatism ignited a wildfire under their base. There was no way they were going to be in the wilderness for another 8 years, maybe longer. She MUST be destroyed and all the little people that she gave incentive to must be intimidated and feel overwhelmed that resistance is futile.

They believe they are winning. They just need a little while longer for the citizens of the Reagan Revolution to kick the bucket and they are golden. Nobody will be alive any longer to remember that shining city on the hill.

    • Al B.

It was Brent Bozell’s father that ghost-wrote "Conscience Of a Conservative" for Goldwater.

      • Leroy Whitby

Oh is that right, not Brent Bozell? Thanks for the correction. I edited my post to make it correct.

        • Al B.

Confusion is easy on this one.  Bozell is named after his father, L. Brent Bozell, Jr., William F. Buckley’s brother-in-law.  Bozell, Jr. was one of the giants of the modern conservative movement.

Firelight had this posted this morning. It’s an excellent read. Yes, I know it’s pollutico but it is good!

How to Beat Karl Rove at His Own Game.

    • Laddie_Blah_Blah

      Great link.

"But that’s what Rove and his ilk want. They’re always willing to do things to those of us in the grassroots they’d never do to Democrats, because in the end these people want to pillage and plunder the public trough every bit as much as the Democrats do. They just want the check from the U.S. Treasury made out to their cronies instead. The leadership of the Democratic Party wants to run a country. The leadership of the Republican Party wants to run a party. They would rather lose elections than lose control of the party to us.

Realizing this has unified the grassroots in opposition to Rove, and likely any Republican in any primary with his support will immediately be given the conservative equivalent of a scarlet letter. Yet we still lack a proven plan to defeat him at his own game. Thankfully, that plan already exists, and it’s already proven to be successful.

Conservatives in Virginia took over the state convention last year and changed the way the party would nominate its gubernatorial candidate. Instead of a primary that provides a target-rich environment for Rove and his political hacks to buy a nomination, Virginia Republicans decided to determine their nominee at convention — where the people who care the most about the future of the party and the country reign supreme. That decision drove the establishment candidate out of the race altogether, and allowed emerging conservative superstar Ken Cuccinelli a clear path to the nomination."

Virginia’s GOPe ciphers, like sitting Lt. Governor Bolling, are planning on joining forces with the likely Dem nominee, none other than Clinton-era hack Terry McCauliffe, to derail Cuccinelli by running an "independent" campaign to draw votes away from Cuccinelli, thereby giving the election to McCauliffe.

You want to know how low they have sunk? How much lower can it get than that? Bolling can probably count on Rove to help fund their knife-in-the-back GOPe campaign. Hester Prynne was a saint compared to creeps like Bolling and Rove.

The fact that Obama can decide on a dime whether Americans can be killed if they’re determined to be a threat should send chills up the spines of what remains of a free America as it’s up to a tyrant masquerading as president to decide just what is that "threat", i.e., who’s to say that a narcissistic megalomaniac wouldn’t decide that anyone who dare opposes his tyrannical transformation of America into a Marxist Socialist State under his dictatorial control is a threat deserving of elimination, as in Obama’s Amerika, you have no right to due process or protection under the law because Obama IS the law in his warped mind!

Obama’s unconstitutional dictates must be resisted by free Americans who
want to remain free whenever and wherever they raise their ugly heads on
any level, local, state, and federal! We owe NO OBEDIENCE to a lawless
tyrant who believes that HE is the law. Those who refuse to see that seminal
fact are condemned to the same fate that history records always happens when
    tyrants are unopposed!

    Videos that would go viral:

    (1) A feisty interview or multiple interviews of Sarah Palin speaking about her experience as a Republican Vice President nominee and observations she has about that race.

    (2) A feisty interview or interviews in which she responds to the attempts by the Democrats – including the Democrats in all of the media – to destroy her politically, including what happened in Alaska after the 2008 election.

I would very much like to hear her lay out what happened to her when she returned to Alaska after the 2008 election. Even though the media knows about it since they read all her emails, the American people (including many conservatives) have NO idea why she had to resign.

I know the Governor is very modest and likes to downplay the hardships she’s faced, but people need to know the truth. The truly open-minded citizens would (should) be disgusted and outraged.

I agree. We all know why she resigned. We are all ardent supporters, but the general public doesn’t. It would be great of she could just clearly lay it out for all.

I have my own thoughts the Gov. did wht She did back more thn a yr ago… It’s not tht She wasn’t ready to be President,it’s tht this Country wasn’t ready for Her… and now…?  to be determined, the ball is still in Her court…& ours.

I frequently have to straighten conservatives out on the resignation issue. For example, I ran into friends (a husband and wife) shortly after meeting Sarah last August. Showing pictures of my experience was a great way to bring up Sarah and see what others would say about her. Anyway, they both said they really liked Sarah and voted for HER in 2008. They also thought she’s presidential material, but they were dismayed and convinced there must have been a scandal of some sort that caused Sarah to step down. I told them about the emails, both private and political, and said if there WAS a scandal would it not show up there? Their response? "What emails?" So I had to explain all that, and then I had to tell them about all the harrassment lawsuits. When the conversation ended they were both angry at what had been done to her , and were firmly back in the Governor’s corner. It takes time to explain all this, but it must be done.
