Martin Bashir on vacation?

Martin Bashir, the MSNBC host who has come under fire for the controversial remarks he made about Sarah Palin, is "on vacation" and will not host his namesake afternoon program on Monday, POLITICO has learned.

Sources at the network said Bashir had been temporarily suspended from the network following graphic remarks he made last month about the former governor from Alaska. In that segment, Bashir suggested that Palin should be forced to endure slavery like conditions, including the consumption of feces.

MSNBC spokesperson Lauren Skowronski told a different story: "He’s still out on vacation," she wrote in an email. Asked multiple times when Bashir would return from vacation, Skowronski did not respond.

Bashir apologized, but there was no apology from the network that approved the airing of his remarks. There was no acknowledgment from the network that his remarks had crossed the line from being opinion into the realm of advocating violent and perverse action. There has been no action taken against Bashir or his producer announced. We are left to believe that this kind of commentary is OK as long as the target is a conservative woman and in particular, Sarah Palin.

Has anyone checked the authenticity of the diary Bashir quoted from? Wikipedia says that it contains 1400 pages with details of 3600 sexual acts that Thistlewood engaged in with over 120 different women. The description of it sounds like a pornographic fantasy book. How was this book authenticated as anything more than fiction? In any event it doesn’t relate to Gov. Palin, to our accumulated debt and what the result of it might be.

Bashir is probably stepping down to "spend more time with his family." That excuse always works.

Maybe he tried to sign up for Obamacare and realized with is declining mental faculties he would be better off under socialized medicine back in his home country.

What a weird thing to get fired over.. Not saying he shouldn’t have been fired, he should have been, but I know I hear worse everyday from both sides. Why don’t more get fired? Was it the fact he mentioned excrement?
