Many parents are fed up with the Girl Scouts which has distanced itself from God and cozied up to pro-abortion organizations. In an interview on the weekly Palin Update with Kevin Scholla, Patti Garibay, Executive Director, American Heritage Girls (AHG) said her organization is a Christ-based character development program for girls ages five to 18. Scholla’s own daughter is a member of AHG. Girls participate in many of the same activities that once made the Girl Scouts great, Garibay said.
Garibay was a Scout and in 1993 had been leading three troops. That year, the Scouts made the decision to allow atheists within its ranks. Garibay went on to found AHG, since parents still wanted traditional faith-based scouting. AHG operates in 49 states and six countries.
The Girl Scouts recently referred to pro-abortion Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis as "an incredible woman," and had a homopunk band leader as its spokesperson. That relationship ceased after complaints from parents. Garibay said life begins at conception and ends at natural death. A woman like Wendy Davis would not be affiliated in any way, shape or form with AHG. Scholla said when is short on time he simply describes AHG as being what the Girl Scouts was.
While Girl Scouts have been a tradition in both Garibay and Scholla’s lives and the lives of countless others, Garibay said we cannot accept the unacceptable and there comes a time when we have to wake up and make a change.
AHG girls are oriented toward honoring our veterans, recognizing their sacrifices, service to others, positive role models, and understanding that girls are made in God’s image.
Scholla suggested that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin would like AHG and that she is a positive role model for women to follow. Garibay agreed.
Commonwealth Commonsense: GOPe vs. Grassroots Nothing New
Susan Stimpson said the GOP establishment is seeking to ban nominating conventions in Virginia, because they are losing control and desperate to re-establish it. The party’s establishment is cutting off the heads of the grassroots and running failed moderates who continually lose elections.
Steel Resolve: Iran Cannot be Trusted
Obama’s press secretary Jay Carney said the declaration by Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani that "world powers have surrendered to the great nation of Iran" does not matter; only their actions do. Sarah Steelman hearkening back to an Alanis Morissette song "Ironic" said the song title applies to Carney. Iran cannot be trusted and lifting sanctions was very unwise.
