Linda Vega said she is running for a U.S. Senate seat in Texas because Washington, D.C. is gridlocked by two parties who can’t get along and work toward solutions. The incumbent Senator, John Cornyn (R-TX) "can’t seem to offer legislation that is beneficial for Texans," she said on the weekly Palin Update with Kevin Scholla. Vega is an immigration attorney and the founder of Latinos Ready to Vote.
Vega is against amnesty and says the quota system is at the root of most of our immigration problems. Vega, therefore, wants immigration quotas abolished. She said immigrants currently must wade through a bureaucratic labyrinth involving three separate agencies. Vega wants to streamline this.
Like Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), Vega supports defunding ObamaCare. She said the IRS should be stripped of all involvement with ObamaCare. She said ObamaCare is a job-killing, tax-raising monster.
"I admire [former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin] a great deal – her courage, her tenacity," Vega said. She said Gov. Palin had been told that she was "not smart enough and not well recognized enough, and did not have a grasp of the concepts," yet "she has the grasp of the American people’s frame of thought." Vega said the idea that a former governor is not qualified to run for office is ridiculous. "I rooted for her, I applauded her, because in a time when people needed a voice, she was a voice that needed to be heard."
Vega said Texas’ population will double in 10 years and job creation is key if the state is to continue thriving.
Vega also admires Ted Cruz for his courage and tenacity. "We need more leaders like [Sen. Cruz]." She said she would love to work side by side with him.
On energy independence, Vega said Canada through Latin America is an energy corridor and we need to work together to minimize imports from countries in the Middle East "who love our money but hate our freedom."
On the court ruling about the Obama Administration’s data collection being legal, Vega said it is a violation of our Fourth Amendment rights. She said if the Fourth Amendment is tumbled, the Second, First, Ninth, and Tenth will go along with it. "All these amendments were made to work together to protect our rights as U.S. citizens.
Commonwealth Commonsense: US Chamber to Support Establishment Candidates
Susan Stimpson discussed the US Chamber of Commerce’s goal to support "no loser candidates," and "have no fools on our ticket." But, it was moderates who lost their elections in one election cycle after another, not the Tea Party candidates – who actually follow the Republican Party’s planks and platform.
Steel Resolve: Manger, Cross Fulfilled God’s Promise
Sarah Steelman recounted the story of a shepherd who was with Christ from His birth all the way to his Resurrection. "The promise of the Manger was fulfilled, not denied by the Cross….Sometimes we look for answers in all the wrong places. A Manger and a Cross fulfilled God’s promise. Never again do we need to be afraid."
