True leadership involves making decisions in light of what's best for both the present and the future. When we look in particular at energy, we can certainly see that Governor Palin has exhibited forward focused leadership.

There is an inherent link, David, between energy and security, energy and prosperity, and energy and freedom. And this is something that our President obviously doesn't understand because he is doing all that he can to do manipulate the US supply of energy. He is diminishing and decreasing the amount of energy in our market domestically and that of course is resulting in prices that are rising and gas having doubled since he has been in office. He is absolutely on the wrong track.

More than 1,176 American soldiers have died on President Obama’s watch, on pace to equal or surpass the number of war dead under President Bush. The difference? The media couldn’t care less.

This is the sort of thing that, had Palin said it, would be cited by the George Wills of the world as proof of her alleged “intellectual incuriosity” and as evidence that she should never, ever be nominated. E.g., “Why isn’t she ready to debate Obama? Doesn’t she care enough about foreign policy to study it?” But since it’s Daniels, no doubt it’ll be applauded as refreshingly candid and a demonstration of charming Hoosier modesty.

Foreign influence is truly the Grecian horse to a republic. We cannot be too careful to exclude its influence.

Noting the five-point "Palin Doctrine" articulated recently, there would be fewer deployments of conventional American forces overseas. Those that occur will be engaged in sharp, overwhelming campaigns of limited duration and clear, measurable goals.

Via Real Clear Politics "So when does Seal Unit 6, or whatever it’s called, drop in on George Bush? Bush was responsible for a lot more death, innocent death, than bin Laden. Wasn’t he, or am I wrong here?," Liberal radio talk show host Mike Malloy said on his show Monday evening. More, including audio, […]

John Stossel | Gasoline and Onions Speculators are like the ants in Aesop’s "Ants and the Grasshopper" fable: They save resources for lean times. Everyone benefits because everyone has a chance to buy from them in those lean times. Speculators don’t "artificially jack up the price of oil" — they take risks. Those who guess […]

This is exactly what Governor Palin's point has been all along, and what she meant in her CNS interview when she noted that the government takes in $6-$8 billion per day and can use some of that revenue to service the debt.

Harper is pro Israel, treats a mainly critical media with contempt and is quite a reasonable rock keyboards man. He holds strong social conservative views but in the past has been opposed to those Conservative Party members who wanted to push the party into socially conservative positions. He prefers to be seen as a fiscal conservative, strong on national security and extremely suspicious of the United Nations.

People like Barr want to portray Governor Palin as stupid, not serious and inexperienced and if she deliveries a speech that defies that narrative, they'll nitpick on something stupid like the venue, something the Governor had nothing to do with.
