Amid phony furor over dog whistles, and the meaning of "blood libel," the major media not surprisingly missed the central point of Governor Sarah Palin's eight-minute address to her Facebook supporters Wednesday.

Part of the reason Palin’s faults get so much attention is because a multicultural, post-everything media considers her strengths so passé. Her conviction in American exceptionalism doesn’t even have to be proved wrong to be denounced; it merely has to be highlighted, like a fashion don’t. It’s part of her perceived yokelism.... Too bad it’s precisely what the country needs right now.

Despite the strong association of the term with collective Jewish guilt and concomitant slaughter, Sarah Palin has every right to use it. The expression may be used whenever an amorphous mass is collectively accused of being murderers or accessories to murder.

It’s not like they could find anything even more ridiculous to say about her, could they?

Unveiling his new 2012 campaign slogan and handing out t-shirts at what is supposed to be a memorial to honor those killed and wounded last Saturday may not or may not be narcissistic, but it's certainly rank political opportunism.

Such criticism is hard to take from people who demanded that she speak up and then denounced her for doing exactly that... The objections that she “injected herself into the story” are hard to take seriously from the same people who insisted she was the cause of the story in the first place

Days of vile political opportunism, on the backs of the dead. Days of giddily and gleefully exploiting deaths, including those of a federal judge and a nine year old child, all in an attempt to score political points and to silence and demonize those with whom they disagree.

Palin was not the first to characterize the liberals dumping the blood of innocents onto her head and the heads of others who dare to voice disagreement with Obama as a "blood libel."

It was Palin whose name was sullied by vicious politics. It was absolutely proper for her to denounce the politics and defend her own honor -- in what actually was a rather dignified way.

It would seem clear that Palin's use of the blood libel phrase in a wider sense outside a specifically Jewish context is nothing new in terms of political debate. But there could have been something much more significant in her mind when she chose to use that phrase.

Palin, like Glenn Reynolds (and, independently, Andrew Breitbart) used the term “blood libel” to describe the way in which opportunistic politicians and journalists seized on the shooting spree to demonize the Tea Party and conservatives in general.

While the Blamestream media is outraged over Governor Palin's use of the term "blood libel", many have rushed to support her Reaganesque response to the atrocity of the Arizona shooting.
