Former Bush staffer Ryan Streeter is a towering figure in American conservatism, a giant of the Beltway who clearly has his finger on the pulse of Mr and Mrs Average Republican and a hotline to GOP activists in every state of the union. "Can you consent to wade through the vile mire of dependency, and owe the miserable remnant of that life to charity, which has hitherto been spent in honor? If you can — GO — and carry with you the jest of tories and scorn of whigs — the ridicule, and what is worse, the pity of the world. Go, starve, and be forgotten!"

Democrats tell us one of the reasons we can't drill for oil and natural gas is because it won't help us now, that it will take years to build the infrastructure to get it to market. True enough, but by what logical contortion is this an argument to delay or completely shelve the development of our domestic natural resources.

"Government takeover," like "death panel," is a true description of ObamaCare's essence. In the meantime, I haven't seen grass since Thanksgiving and there's a foot and a half of global warming on my deck.
