Is it a perfect deal? No, it still sucks. But, it’s still a hell of a lot better than what it would have been if that housewife from Wasilla hadn’t chimed in on Facebook on Thursday and encouraged freshmen Republicans to hold the line.

Palin: “@BarackObama wants us to contact Congress. Great idea! Tell them to rein in our dangerously unsustainable debt to protect our credit rating….@BarackObama wants us to support a “balanced deficit solution.” Great idea! How about a balanced budget amendment?…@BarackObama you’re wrong, threatening to throw seniors under the bus because you refuse to prioritize govt spending.Time to #womanup & lead”

She urged Republican leaders in Congress not to give in to the Obama administration’s demands, saying it would be “a failure of leadership” to yield at this point

Forward focused leadership is needed, not fiscal myopia focused solely on political expediency. Governor Palin enacted such a vision in Alaska. She cut spending and put money into savings during good financial times, and she realizes that when times are not good cutting spending and addressing entitlements is needed to help keep America from driving off a fiscal cliff.

This is exactly what Governor Palin’s point has been all along, and what she meant in her CNS interview when she noted that the government takes in $6-$8 billion per day and can use some of that revenue to service the debt.

“I absolutely do think the Republicans and Democrats – any common sense fiscal conservatives who understand that we can’t just give another tool to big spenders – I think they should vote against the debt ceiling”

Governor Palin’s thoughts on the debt ceiling are both present and future focused and are in line with both investors and conservative economists.

It turns my stomach to hear the assumption articulated that “well we have to” despite the fact we’re raking in, the federal government, $6 billion a day. Take that money and service our debt first and pay down some of that debt. Make sure that we’re showing the international financial markets and our lenders that we’re serious about getting our debt and deficit problems under control.

The gas prices have increased 67% since Obama took over and instead of doing everything in his power to decrease those prices by allowing more domestic supply of oil which would translate into obviously more supply of gasoline too, he instead is heading the other direction. He’s over there asking the Saudis and other Arab nations to ramp up production so that we can purchase from them. That makes absolutely no sense because there goes our jobs, our opportunities, our money into foreign lands. We could be having that circulated here and that would boost our economy.

Part II: “We cannot afford to incur more debt. Debt is the foundation of destruction. Look at what’s happened over the years in Germany and Poland and Greece and so many of these other countries. We just need to look at what has happened to these other countries, learn their lessons, and not repeat it. Increasing debt in America will just put us on that road that those other countries were already on.”

Well, what the tea party wants is for government to be smaller and smarter. So, you know, when you consider that we just saw an increase in government spending by about 28% and saw a little chip out of that to the tune of 1%, I would say that no, the tea party and Americans in general who are concerned about the fiscal health of our country did not get what they wanted.
