We have more conventional energy resources than every other country in the world. With the recent tsunami disaster in Japan being exploited to put nuclear energy on hold for another generation at least, we need to be developing the proven energy resources with which this nation is so richly endowed.

Right above our arctic circle, we have 90 billion barrels of technically recoverable oil. We have hundreds of trillions of cubic feet of clean green natural gas. God has provided these for us. It’s our responsibility to responsibly tap into them and use them for mankind and not rely on foreign regimes to do it for us.

We need a leader with a steel spine who has the authenticity, practical experience, and strength of conviction to do what needs to be done. Republicans — and America — should demand nothing less at this critical point in the nation’s history.

Democrats tell us one of the reasons we can’t drill for oil and natural gas is because it won’t help us now, that it will take years to build the infrastructure to get it to market. True enough, but by what logical contortion is this an argument to delay or completely shelve the development of our domestic natural resources.

Is Team Obama so afraid to admit that Governor Palin is right about this (and has been right all along) that they’re willing to risk economic disaster? It certainly appears that way. And make no mistake, if we see sustained oil prices of $200 or higher, the recession from which we just emerged will seem like a walk in the park.

Everyone agrees that we need to develop new sources of energy. But Cap and Tax will do nothing to further this goal. If anything, it will push its development farther into the future than it already is. There’s no evidence that an economically viable source of energy to replace fossil fuels is even close to being developed, and nothing Obama says or does, including destroying the energy sector, can change that.

It didn’t take Obama long in his Oval Office speech last night to change the subject from his administration’s incompetence to his next grandiose scheme to push America further away from the free market principles which made this country great. As Rahm Emanuel, his consigliere, has said, never let a serious crisis go to waste. [...]
