Rasmussen appears to have included non-candidate Rick Perry and excluded Governor Palin in his most recent Iowa caucus poll. If Rasmussen’s poll is correct, then I think Ron Paul is a good bet to win the Ames straw poll.

During the fiscal years for which Sarah Palin exercised budgetary authority as Governor of Alaska, the State’s General Fund averaged an annual surplus of more than $2.6 billion (up from her predecessor’s average of $1.0 billion), amounting to 24.4% of average revenues over the same period.

Alaska under Palin was the only state to see a reduction in total liabilities (34.6% overall, 11.5% per year), due in large part to the Governor’s insistence that the State’s surplus be used to pay down unfunded pension obligations and forward-fund education.
